Fun Fact, Mosquitos are not attracted to UV light. In fact any light can disorient mosquitoes, but that's it. Light does not attract them. Carbon Dioxide, heat, body sweat, and odor is the best for attracting Mosquitos.

dont worry the light does nothing

I would have at least wired the fan into the base of the light, that way it is a single cord unit. You could expand on that wire in a switch under the lid also.

I'm liking this project so far, but as an electrician I would like to point out that you did not polarize the electric cord. It is possible that you crossed hot and neutral. Either use a meter or feel the edge of the cord--one side will have "ridges" on it to mark that side. Keep it straight, keep it clean.

A bug zapper might cost a little more, but it'll consume much less electricity and probably last much longer so it'll pay for itself, and it's quieter.

This pales in comparison to a bug zapper for costs!

Add a little little container of vinegar and egg shells, secure somewhere around the light. The mixture will make CO2 and attract mosquitoes.

If your rooster crows to much for your liking you can buy a rooster collar that stops the loud crowing down to a cluck and it doesn't hurt the animal at all.

On the extension cord , the insulation on the wire that has the " ridgies" on it is the "Identified wire" it's the grounded conductor and goes to the silver screw on the keyless light fixture ( witch goes to the screw shell on the Edison base "A" lamp 60watt incandescent black light ) 😎 🤙 PS; My earliest memory is being electrocuted ... 😐 🙋

Cool design❤, what if you drill a hole in the Smoking one and you install a Pipe made of metal in the middle which can suck fresh air from below like a inverse chimney. Would that not be even easier to achieve the post combustion?

I get the idea but it's such a waste of time, (if you burn a lot, they oxidize and rust away quickly. On our busy farm, we just use 2 separate burn barrels, LoL. There's always so much to do, why waste time 🤠
@alex_stanley12 күн бұрын
My issue with steel burn barrels is that they rust out in about 5 years. After going through several of them over the years, I finally bought a DR burn cage, which is made of perforated stainless steel, and it lets air in from everywhere while containing the fire. It takes about 30 seconds for the fire to turn into a smokeless inferno, and it leaves powdery fine white ash.

This looks really cool! One of the selling points of the $80😳 small DynaTrap is that it is coated with some kinda stuff that emits carbon dioxide trails that mosquitoes follow back to the trap because the think it's human breath. I didn't notice you coating your trap with any mysterious imitation human breath potions, so how well does your trap actually work with only the light (black light??) to lure the bugs?

Use a HDPE Plastic barrel as a form to create a standing concrete *Smokeless Super Mario Bros Warp Pipe* ! Of course you'll need 2 of them, but most of it can be done like the barrel, just with concrete and rebar! I dunno, just a thought!

Yeah, it's good idea to get the polarity right when wiring the lamp. I'd also suggest hooking up the fan in parallel with the light so that you have only one plug to plug in. And also cutting out one continuous piece of screen to completely cover the side of the bucket.
