Genius! Thank you for the info, need to make a feed auger for cattle feed for my older father in law that can't lean down into the big dumpster we use for holding cattle feed. Hope it works!

Exactly what I was looking for. Using your approach, I built the auger I needed to feed the cats. Thanks for taking the time to show us how it is done.

I was looking to see if someone else had built a feed auger from pvc pipe......truly appreciate you making this video. I had first thought all-thread and washers but too much expense and work figuring pitch, then thought of pvc and was looking for ideas and found your excellent vid online and this was exactly what I was wanting to do, but with multiple drops for my rabbit cages. I use a hand drill like this on hand grain grinders and hand meat grinders too, always quicker... Great job teaching your daughter as well.....daddy's girls rock! Thanks for this awesome video!

Dude. You won the internet. OMG how cool. I'm looking for a way to transfer sand & Portland cement from a knee high hopper up to about 5 feet, just enough to feed a spinning 5 Cubic Foot mixer. You might have the right idea. Bravo!

@@shawnstrittmatter4783 No, I did not. I'm close to ordering a "flexible screw conveyor" from a supplier I found on Alibaba. It's like 100mm x 4 meter (4"x17') with a 3kw motor on the output end. The price is just under $300, but with shipping to the Port of Tampa would be an additional $500. I live nearby and can pick it up, but...I've never purchased an item that way and am nervous about the security of such a transaction. I'd like to buy from an American supplier, but try to find one that actually posts prices! It's always "Contact for quote". From what I can tell, an American made one would be in the THOUSAND$$$ It's like they don't care about little people like I am. Oh well. But Alibaba suppliers are hungry for our business. Unlike American suppliers. Tsk, tsk.

I like how you used the PVC trim for the auger flight......how did you attach it to the pipe, with PVC. Glue or something else? I may have the craziest use for your idea, I’m researching composting toilets, and am planning on designing a “no touch” system and building it into a custom Overlanding Rig I’m working on.

Did you use pvc glue to attach the quarter round to the pipe? Does the drill spin inside the quarter round if its not glued? Youre wrapping it around 1” metal pipe and then putting it around 3/4” pvc? Seems like it wouldnt match that size. Obviously it works, just trying to figure out a few missing pieces of info.
@MrMoney316-r2x3 жыл бұрын
Have you tried this yet? I just did and used a 1" metal pipe as he said to use and can confirm unless I did something wrong when winding it , its far to big for the 3/4 pvc pipe.

@@MrMoney316-r2x No, I realized quickly after asking the question that the amount of feed I wanted to auger is way more than this little thing can handle. I started looking for a professional pan feed system for my 250 chickens.

3/4" PVC pipe is 1.05" O.D. 3/4" steel pipe is also 1.05" O.D. 1" Steel tube is 1" O.D. My guess is he used 3/4" steel pipe, not 1" steel pipe.

Currently trying to build this myself to use at the beach to feed my sluice box when looking for gold. I just tried to drill out the cap and failed, how did you drill it out for the pipe to fit thru? I can tell ya a spade bit was definitely a bad idea....lol. next idea would be a hole saw but need to figure out a better way of holding on to cap when drilling. great video and exactly the idea I had but wasn't sure how to go about it til now. Actually going to see if I can make it in multiple pieces as that would be ideal for transport and storage.
@silver1fangs3 жыл бұрын
Curious if you have managed to drill the cap cleanly? Also as a thought to make it portable id imagine you could use couplers but just press fit instead off glue and if those dont hold enough, a wrap of electric tape on the pipes.
@MrMoney316-r2x3 жыл бұрын
@@silver1fangs I ended up using a hole saw in a drill press. Worked well just make sure you the cap clamped in vise and vise clamp well, first almost hurt me real bad as I didn't have vise clamped down well enough.
