The ugly future of America's Social Security system is rooted in the fact major shortfalls ahead must be addressed in some way or another. This will not be easy and will most likely disappoint a lot of people. brucewilds.blogspot.com/2024/04/the-ugly-future-of-social-security-huge.html

I think one of the biggest reason people get to 65 and don’t have much is that they think they can always start saving later, and before they know it, it’s later and they never started saving and investing.

The recession is here, where do investors look at for wealth gains now? mortgage rates still on the rise with higher imports and lower exports, yet the Fed is to lessen cost. Something will eventually break if they keep raising interests and quantitative tightening.

when we go into recession, tech will do poorly as a sector considering what's going on in the world, while defense stocks should be doing good, but always do your own research, or speak to a valid advisor before investing your money

Agreed, I've always delegated my excesses to a pro, ever since suffering portfolio steep-down amid covid-19 outbreak. As of today, I'm semi-retired with barely 25% short of my $1m retirement goal after subsequent investments, and only work 7.5 hours a week.

Safest approach i feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown. its important to seek the guidance of an expert

A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.

Unfortunately, this video was just propaganda and had no real information. People’s problems aren’t due to $6 eggs, it’s their $1200/mo truck payment. People have been making bad financial choices for a long time, and now they want to blame low-income immigrants for their problems.

We are entering the age of "Full John Galt." This is a time where society and politicians are rapidly dismantling the rights of ownership. This transfer of rights constitutes a transfer of wealth whether we wish to call it by that name or not. While we may not be at our end, or the end, it is understandable why so many of the most capable contributors of our economy are now moving towards the sidelines. Capable and smart people do not have to work hard to make ends meet and are proving this by going out and enjoying life rather than working to support those that won't. When people decide to remove themselves from a game they see as rigged in favor of those far less deserving it is an indication that at some point even Atlas will shrug and let the world fall. More on this subject in the article below. brucewilds.blogspot.com/2021/07/we-are-entering-age-of-full-john-galt.html

Also, welcome to debt. This is how the wealthy will sell us products while taking what little we have in terms of income or savings. Credit cards, overdrafts... And when we exhaust it all, we'll lose it all, and they'll move on to our kids.

Prices HAVE NOT STABILIZED. Super markets at least disguise this by holding big sales. And then when the price goes back to "normal" , it's HIGHER... And even a twenty percent off or thirty percent off SALE ITEM more than previously. IT IS A DECEDPTIVE STAIR STEP MECHANISM. Many but nearly all FRESH grocery items 60% to 80% percent more per pound And a few years ago. Don't forget that the cost of transportation (given fuel increases & truck maintenance ) and the cost of FINANCING OPERATIONS has increased too. "Disinflation" Is simply a decreasing rate of inflation, but when it's compounding upon prices that have NOT fallen back the OUTCOME might be a 2% price increase of a dollar amount that is 3% to 3.5% or more HIGHER n the same mominal mark-up increasing mon-sale prices would have been a few years ago. No matter how you count it...displayed prices and on sale prices CONTINUE COMPOUNDING.

We were warned about this, but sadly, too many people misinterpreted the warning as a promise, because that's what the social media sphere propagandized it as. "in the future, you will own nothing, but you will be happy." The Freemium videogame model is all about that.

One thing I really disliked from the Democratic side was the idea that the economy is doing great, and like you said in this video, it technically is if you cherry pick the stats. I understand that for the incumbent, it’s expected they be a little more positive, but this example was simply insulting.

It’s not their habits lol. There were actual supply chain issues decreasing supply and the quantitative easing with no interest rates and stimulus led to consumers having more disposable income. It’s not as complex as you’re making it. Just supply and demand

David Bach calls it the latte factor. It is meant to symbolize your wasteful daily expenses. It’s not about buying coffee, it’s the DAILY cost plus the extras. The “daily” and “extras” part of this equation is what makes the “coffee” a problem. Latte $5 Banana bread $3.75 20ish days a month $175+/month. It adds up.

I am a landscaper in Maine. I mow the lawns of mega mansions and million dollar vacation homes nobody even visits once all year. The vast majority of the lawns I mow all summer are seen by nobody, because the owners never even visit once all season. These vacation homes are three times the size of most people's regular houses, and very very modern and expensive. Cobblestone walkways, in ground pools, in ground hot tubs, tennis courts, gargantuan luxury style fire pits, bus-sized brand new RVs that never even move, lines of 4 wheelers and dirt bikes, classic cars, you name it, they got it, and they don't even live there, these are secondary fun-houses to them. These vacation homes would blow your mind and 1000 new ones pop up every single year here. I make 20 dollars an hour. It is time for fire and pitchforks.

You DO NOT retire until you can afford it! I retired with a pension at 51 1/2. I had to sit out a year before returning to teaching as a substitute. I subbed for 6 years full time. I took 2 years off and am now subbing at a private school. You have to sacrifice when you are young and put money away. You should be able to live off of your pension and have the other accounts and TSA for big item tickets. Teachers and substituting for teachers are ALWAYS needed.

Company I was at went full remote during the pandemic. Their lease for the office building was coming up for renewal. They decided not to. Instead, they invested way more money into a downtown location, then ordered us back to the office. They created the need to use commercial real estate when they were in a perfect position to reduce their office lease line item significantly by just not renewing their lease. Instead, they not only committed to office space, they upgraded. Big, big turnover. They didn't care. It was owned by a PE which is just interested in sucking the brands dry before they're killed off.
