If you bend a sewing pin into a tiny hook shape you can fish the broken chain piece through one of the holes on the bottom of the switch. Then tie a peice of string to the bottom of the chain and push the chain and string up through the bottom hole back into the switch. Then use the hook again to hook onto the string and pull it out the main chain hole. Then you can either use the string as your new chain or pull very hard on the string to expose enough of the chain to attach a new chain extension to it. The whole thing took me about 10-15 minutes. Make sure the string you're using is very strong but thin enough to fit through the holes when knotted. Fishing line would work good I used

It wasn't necessarily that you were careless or sloppy. Since this was your first time doing tile you made the same mistaken 99% of first timers do, you put way too much thin set on the back of the tile or on the floor surface, and this is why it squeezed itself up through the grout lines.

I am always attracted to the dark flooring. I ended up putting dark bamboo all through my last house and ugh. It shows every speck of dust all over the floor! I don't like blond flooring at all, but now I go with a light to mid shade floor. That floor looks so beautiful, but I wouldn't want to clean it again.

Do you mean where it clips on to the inlet valve body? If so I don't think it matters. If I remember correctly, I think that is just to secure the wires.

Would the temporary wall be good for a 2nd floor?
@AdvantureRoad3 ай бұрын
This video came at a perfect time for me. Have to do the same repair around my entire house. Would it still work on a wall that runs the same direction as your ceiling joists? I’m guessing that a wall under 1 joist would be enough to get the weight of the sill plate for replacing
@KyleMerl3 ай бұрын
I meant to reply to this sooner but got distracted by life! This method is for when the ceiling joists run perpendicular to the wall you're trying to repair.

Do the inlets have n ay type of screen or filters,,i have a 3 year old amana thats short cycling and not getting clothes clean,,,we have well water and it often stops up certain appliances,,,
@KyleMerl4 ай бұрын
I dont remember to be honest. It definitely doesn't have a built in filter but the may be small screens on there. It's probably best to set up a separate filtration system if you don't already have one so the water is filtered before it gets to the washer. I wouldnt rely on the inlet valve to do it.

@ Kyle, I have the same washer, it sprung a leak a week ago, so I changed the pump out, still was leaking water after that, so I took the back off again and just set there watching, water starting dripping constantly from the hot water side valve, so I ordered a new one, just installed it, when I start the fill cycle the valves just hum loudly, like it’s getting juice but no water will come out at all, and I’ve switched between all the water setting and nothing changes, so what do I need to do
@KyleMerl4 ай бұрын
sorry I didn't see this comment until now. If you're sure all of the electrical connections are good then it sounds like this might be a problem with a different component in the washer. Not really sure what it would be, since I didn't have the same problem as you. But if it seems like the fill valve is working then you can at least rule that out. You'll probably need to do some more research to figure out the cause of the issue. When I research stuff like this I first try to learn how the appliance works "under the hood", and then try to think what parts could be the cause. Then I do more research to try to rule out each part. Sorry that's not really an answer to your question but I hope it helps and you figure it out!
