If you have rusty water, you can try cleaning the inlet valves out and reinstalling. I use lysol black toilet bowl cleaner get it inside and on the outside hookups (where the hoses hook to) rinse it all out, make sure the solenoid things are dry, and put it back in. I have to pull ours and clean it every couple months (it between then i have to switch hose sides) because it's completely orange and water flow is blocked. I so so so appreciate this video, because I was looking all over youtube and having a heck of a time. Your video was the clearest, easy to follow, just thank you so much! ❤️ I just had to pull it up again last night because I couldn't remember how to take the top part off, and then ended up cheating and using Allen key torx bits to get those screws off without taking the top panel off. It was a pain tho. Much easier doing it your way, I was being lazy. Lol

Bought my new home and it came with this dryer . For some reason the water would not fill . It would start a bit then stop. I was literally going to go buy a whole now washer. Our Amana washing machine only worked on the cold cycle. The hot cycle would fill up very slowly, then drain and stop. Replacing the inlet valve fixed the problem. Thank you! This worked great and your step by step instructions were perfect.

It does that on both the hot and cold. I knew it had to be the water intake valve, but your video showed me that I'm right. I will be ordering the part, and now I know how to install it. Kept meaning to get back to make this comment. A few months ago (April '22), our washer stopped working. My son suggested this fix and we found your video....almost the exact same unit (different name). Went over to amazon, $42 dollars with tax for the part, popped it in and all is right with the world. @@KyleMerl oh it did, but one thing though I noticed after the job. One of the flexible metal pipes on my water heater started knocking (water hammer?) When the cold water stops flowing to the machine...I turned down the cold water abit to the machine itself and it stopped, should I be worried about it?

advertising it'd probably be good to try to secure if you can. That's interesting. It might be a sign of other plumbing issues? Maybe a water pressure problem somewhere?

Mine was the opposite. It wouldnt stop filling with water. I switched the hot and cold on the back and tried hot. It worked and that told me my cold side was faulty. Ill just use it on cold until i fix it

Do you mean where it clips on to the inlet valve body? If so I don't think it matters. If I remember correctly, I think that is just to secure the wires.

I replaced the unit and am still getting drips on the cold side, though less frequent. All the hoses are a good hand tight and not leaking. Leak is on the inside, behind tub coming off the blue plastic piece of the intake valve, same as with the one I replaced. Trying to see if the water could be traveling from somewhere else? It has destroyed the floor. #baffled. BTW mine is older and came apart somewhat differently. Good vid. Thx.

Interesting. You may have to remove the whole back panel to see the source of the problem. I never had that issue before so I'm not sure what would be the cause.

@ Kyle, I have the same washer, it sprung a leak a week ago, so I changed the pump out, still was leaking water after that, so I took the back off again and just set there watching, water starting dripping constantly from the hot water side valve, so I ordered a new one, just installed it, when I start the fill cycle the valves just hum loudly, like it’s getting juice but no water will come out at all, and I’ve switched between all the water setting and nothing changes, so what do I need to do

sorry I didn't see this comment until now. If you're sure all of the electrical connections are good then it sounds like this might be a problem with a different component in the washer. Not really sure what it would be, since I didn't have the same problem as you. But if it seems like the fill valve is working then you can at least rule that out. You'll probably need to do some more research to figure out the cause of the issue. When I research stuff like this I first try to learn how the appliance works "under the hood", and then try to think what parts could be the cause. Then I do more research to try to rule out each part. Sorry that's not really an answer to your question but I hope it helps and you figure it out!

Bought a new house and this washer came with it, seemed fine until the same thing happened to me. It’ll only start to fill on any temp setting for 5 seconds when you open then close the lid. Once closed, water rushes in for about 5 seconds then it stops unless I open and close the lid again.

Probably... this seems to be a common problem with these things. Being only 4 months old it may be covered under warranty. It might also be less expensive to fix your self even with warranty though.

We recently had a freezing temperatures out here that caused a pipe to burst. The pressure was so strong the hot water connection broke off the back of our washer and when I run a fill cycle it trickles water from the hot side even when I use cold. Is there a simple fix for that or would it just be better to replace the whole inlet valve?

U might be able to get by with teflon tape temporarily. If the threads are messed up I'd just replace the whole valve. It's not that hard of a job

Hey I know this is an old video but I just fixed my inlet valve on the same washing machine you don't have to necessarily replace it ,,on both ends there is a little green cap you can pop it off and the magnet things slide off both sides are interchangeable so you could swap them around to make sure that's actually the issue if it's not unscrew the white stem and clean out the rubber gasket also a little plastic piece in between the rubber gasket stretch the spring a little bit out put it back together and should work fine

I forgot to mention I think you have to plug in the wire upside down if you're using the other sides magneto thing ,,the part numbers are one number off , I would just take it apart and clean it stretch the spring out see if that fixes your issue before you swap them around

Hi Kyle, first of all thanks for the video. I have the exact same model Amana washing machine as you and I think I have the same problem, but I'm not sure. When I try to run a cold/cool water cycle the basin will fill with just a little water and then get stuck on the sensing fill part of the cycle, like you described, and then try to restart the cycle. My hot/warm water cycles run fine until the rinse part of the cycle (which only uses cold water), it'll fill with just a little water and stall before the cycle forcefully ends. Is this what happened to you as well?

Pretty similar. For me, if I remember correctly the cold would not fill up with any water at all but the hot would. I never ran a full hot cycle but I'm assuming the ending rinse would have failed. Its possible that you have the same issue

I have an Amana NTW4516FW....Is there a way to get the machine to fill faster on the rinse ? It's a cold rinse but there is a restriction on it that takes ages to fill .

not that I know of. Water will flow slower from the hot side than the cold, but I didn't have any issues like that with cold water.
