Thank you very much Mr. Merl. You made what started as a bad day a good day. The box said there was detailed instructions inside but there wasn't any instructions. I searched for the Kohler parts on KZbin and by great luck, I found your video. I'm an accountant by trade and far from mechanically inclined. Your video saved me from spilling water all over my bathroom floor and allowed me to complete the task in 10 minutes (When I purchase furniture that requires assembly, if it says it will take 2 hours based on history it usually takes me 2 days so the 10 minutes is amazing). Thanks again!

I just replaced my Kohler fill valve today after watching your video. It's been awhile since it was noisy and leaking my fill valve. I was afraid to replace before because plumbing is kind of difficult to do. Also plumbers are charging like 120 bucks and sometimes they don't wanna do small job. Thanks for sharing this video...

Thank you! Great video. I was able to do this in 45 minutes. It'd be shorter if I didn't have to struggle removing the nut from the water supply line. After that, it was quick! When I replaced the tip and hose, I noticed water was leaking too (like you mentioned in the video). I decided to use the original hose which seems to have more of a grip and less leakage. Do you think it is ok to have some water leak from the tip?
@KyleMerl4 ай бұрын
@@cathyk9120 it's best to not have any leakage there. I think i had to just push it on harder. As long as if it's only leaking when the tank is filling then it's not the end of the world but I'd try to get it to stop.
@cathyk91204 ай бұрын
@@KyleMerl Thanks Kyle! When I pushed it in harder (at least 4 times), the drip/leak was much less especially with the old beige hose which has a much stronger grip than the new black one. Yes, only dripping when tank is filling. Perhaps I need to get another fill valve? Maybe it's defective? I'll call Kohler in the morning and see what they say too?
@KyleMerl4 ай бұрын
@@cathyk9120 i think for me the leak was that the plastic tip wasn't pushed in the whole way and not so much the hose. Did you double check that?
@cathyk91204 ай бұрын
@@KyleMerl Yeah, pushed the tip in (without hose) all the way in/as much as possible and still dripping. For you, there's no dripping on your end at all? At certain angle, it looks fine but when I dry it, I notice a bit of a drip towards the back. I'll keep you posted but thanks again for an awesome video! It made me feel I could do it and I did :)

@@KyleMerl 🤣 People don't get it that , in general, the water in the tank is no different than the water from the sink. It's not in contact with the business end of the toilet water. Although there may be more sediment in the bottom but of the tank, that same sediment is in the water you use every day. I hope you poured that water back in the tank when done, water co$t$ money. Yep I believe you have to twist it to adjust the height. At least that's what I had to do with mine
@kthewhite74534 жыл бұрын
I literally just fixed this issue 2 mins ago with our brand new toilet. If you remove the cover for the floater arm, you'll see a pin that most likely isn't aligned properly in it's holes which creates friction so the arm can't go up all the way. I took pliers and yanked the pin out then realigned it properly and voila! It's fixed. No more friction on the floater arm so it fully rises now :)

hmmm. if it's a Kohler it could be a defective part. If it's a different brand it might have a different way for adjusting the height. make sure you're turning the bottom part clockwise and maybe pull on it a little bit as you do it... not a lot but just a little.

And now your toilet will fill 50% more slowly because of that gray valve you put on. I don't understand Kohler's logic of filling the tank more slowly as a 'water savings' measure. How does that work?
@KyleMerl11 ай бұрын
Yea I'm not sure what the purpose of those are... I just made sure to match it to whatever the original was. In general I think all of these water saving appliances are annoying because none of them work as well. And how much money is it really saving us?
@guymandudely32411 ай бұрын
@@KyleMerl Money saving = zero. I live alone but if I had to share a toilet with three other people, I think life would be stressful waiting extra minutes for the tank to fill. So I guess the purpose of the flow regulator is to make life more frustrating, right?
