I’ve had my Elise’s DM 10 for 10 years and barely played it at all, but I moved two years ago and now all of a sudden the module when turned on is unresponsive and just makes a lot of high-pitched alien squealing sounds… What happened and what do I do to remedy it?

Hi Rob, Sorry to be commenting on something that you've already discussed at length. I know you don't have the kit anymore; just wondering if you could help me with something. I've bought a yamaha kp65 kick trigger pad. Tried plugging it in taking the jack out of the hd-1 kick. Problem is, it seems doing some reading that it's not working because the hd-1 kick trigger uses a resistance strip, whereas the kick trigger pad I've bought uses a piezo (like what you used in constructing your own pedal). The pedal works if i swap out any of the other jacks on the hd-1 and put it in the new trigger, seeming to confirm this. I'm wondering if you had any ideas on why you could use a piezo and plug the jack from the hd-1 into it, yet I do essentially the same thing with a store bough kick pad and it doesn't work. I noticed the hd-1 has mono jacks, whereas the yamaha one I bought has stereo ones. Do you think that this is the problem, and that it can be overcome somehow? I noticed your video had a mono jack, whereas the yamaha one is stereo. Cheers, Aidan.

you can further hone in your kit by reducing the velocity curve so you really have to lay into them to get that snare "pop". not like is shown here

Hi Rob. I am desperately trying to get/find the Blue Jay soundset but it is not available anymore on the net. There are no "uploads" of it anywhere, not even on torrents LOL. Is there any way you could upload the kit somewhere so that I could grab it from you? I would be very happy if you did that. By the way, your tips regarding EZ drummer helped me a lot, so thanks for the info!

Great Video, I do find that my kick pad bounces a bit too much when i play double bass on it. I was thinking of just putting some weight behind it, but mounting it to the frame could be a much better idea! although unfortunately I use my kit to play Rock Band so i have to move it around quite often :/

+Rob Glynn I have a brand new dm10 mesh kit.. its 2weeks old now.. your videos are really helpful for me to setup settings like crosstalks... Few questions.. what is it? The remo sticker on the kick drum pad? what software do you use to record or to make cover of a song? Thanks in advance☺
@25rglynn
@25rglynn 8 жыл бұрын
The sticker on the bass pad is just to stop the felt beater from wearing out as fast on the mesh head.

Did you use hd1 brain? No external module? I would love to do this to an hd1 tom, basically you are the one who did it ;) most of people replies me that it's not possible! Thanks :)
@25rglynn

Yes I did it with no external module. I made the drum pad attached it to the frame and took the jack lead from the hd 1 right bass pedal and plugged it into the drum pad socket I made to trigger the sound.

Are the E-kit DM10 only connected to the pc with a USB cable? No interface in between? Can you record your own drumming into EZ Drummer 2 or can you use the drum kits in EZ Drummer 2 for your sound?
@25rglynn
@25rglynn 9 жыл бұрын
Yes it's just a sub cable between the dm10 sound module and pc. Have a look at my other videos where all is explained. If you wanted to record with ezdrummer this can be done in recording software or you could take a cable from your PCs into an input channel on a mixing desk

The settings should be similar to your usually set up but you may need to tweet a bit just play and see. Bluejay is a software upgrade if better sounds visit the alesis site and search for bluejay that will tell you more.

2 more questions plz: 1. I understood how you got EZ sounds back into module using 3.5mm to rca cables, but what is that purple wire coming out of module headphone jack going into? (Couldn't make out what your saying during that part-accent) 2. How are you getting both module sounds & EZ sounds recorded onto this video?
@25rglynn
@25rglynn 10 жыл бұрын
Ok. The purple lead is a jack to jack going to a speaker so I can hear what I'm playing. It is possible to have to sounds from the sound module and the aux in at the same time. I turned down the sounds from the module and have the sound of the aux only.

When you edit instrument midi note on module to assign for ezdrummer, do you have to redo it each time you play? Does editing midi screw up the preset kits?
@25rglynn
@25rglynn 10 жыл бұрын
I created a new kit channel around 90 or 100 and save the midi note assignment to that. When you are using your normal kit on alesis sound module use 1-10 then when using ez drummer. Using kits at the other end so they are easy to access. I also set new channels for rock pop kit and kit from hell etc as the midi notes are different for them. Hope this helps
