That has the consistency of a Feather Finish product. The "snots" seem to be lumps left from a dirty bucket. No criticism, it happens to me too.

Dealers sell 3.2mm rigid core products which are low quality, installers aren't doing enough floor prep. These 3.2mm products are giving the rest of the lvp industry a bad name because they don't hold up. Installer error is a huge issue, patch is not used when needed, plywood joints aren't getting sanded, no one seems to pull a level out of the truck to check subfloors. I am a fan of WPC products like Adura Max and Coretec Plus, we sell them all day long and they don't have any call backs. Rigid core plank today is to made to brittle today, they don't hold up like wpc products. My opinion is WPC core is the best of the best.
@PreferredFlooringMI10 ай бұрын
There is definitely not enough prep done. We don't do too much residential, but I've had a lot of installers say they like WPC best as well. Have you seen Mohawks new product? Pure Tech

Our scope wasn't the hard tile, but they have a caulking company that typically comes in after us and seals everything up. We are typically using a 4 inch scraper or a five way to scrape along the bottom, could also use a utility knife to ride the bottom.

Uzin 888. Typically the first pass is the ramp with a notch in the trowel for the correct height. Then it's a regular patching trowel to smooth everything out and extend the ramp out for a smooth transition.

Just did a cove job with 13 foot vinyl and for the most part it was easy enough to cut it but my teacher taught me how to full scribe incase I needed to with a stiffer product like forbo. But I really like this method and I'm going to try! Whatever is easiest and makes you feel comfortable to get a good install is all that matters. And taking pride in your work!!! Great video

So I tried this today on an Altro job, the altro was pretty thick close to 3/16 if I remember correctly, but instead of making the template I put a key mark on the floor and measured to the key and to my seam and got my lines that way then to keep it from being too tight I just cut out the thickness of the material on one side but overall same result and process. #Tradesecrets 🤑🤐

I really hate 13 ft
@SonsOfThunder229 Жыл бұрын
I prefer to pattern scribe. Make your pattern, glue then cut your pattern while the glue is drying, drop it on the key mark and youre done. Much more efficient, no dry fitting and all that. Of course, you can drop it in the glue and still knife it in, but i dont like to knife in tight spaces. Not worth the time for production.

Dumb question from someone who is relatively new in the trade: If your Leister welding gun is a manual (older) version with settings from 0-9 which setting do you have it on that equates 750F?
@PreferredFlooringMI2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the tip and airflow coming out. A Majority of the time it's more of what you feel comfortable at than actual recommended temps. I would start around 4 and work up or down from there.
@freddyking73882 жыл бұрын
@@PreferredFlooringMI Great! It's probably the answer I was hoping for 👌. I hover around 3.5 to 4. Two more experienced colleagues advised me to work with 5, but I feel that the weld melts way too fast at 5. Thanks for the reply.

I am just curious why nobody patterns out their vinyl anymore? I prefer to pattern everything, keeps from having to hack it in like this. To each their own, I just prefer the cut, glue and drop method.
@PreferredFlooringMI2 жыл бұрын
There's definitely a time and place for it. When we are teaching classes we teach to pattern scribe. There's far too many experienced installers who have never done it or even know how to do it. We have to go back to the basics and start to teach it again.
@Christuffrz282 жыл бұрын
Does nobody pattern anymore? I can pattern this entire room out in 15 minutes, make my cuts, glue up and throw it down.. Good beginner idea but this is usually only used for Nora by Interface. I prefer scribing in all my flash cove.
@PreferredFlooringMI2 жыл бұрын
This is a Nora product. The more delicate the product the more you have to pattern scribe. As I've said in another video comment, not a lot of people know how these days, but it is definitely a valuable thing to know how to do.
