Just bought me one of those Little Dandy powder loaders ; didn’t realize i also had to get rotors for it. do you recommend this product? Thanks for the video have fun plinking

Yes the Little Dandy is a great way to load powder quickly. Do some research to find out which rotor you need for your preferred powder and charge weight. www.rcbs.com/on/demandware.static/-/Library-Sites-RCBSSharedLibrary/default/dw2308a13f/productPdfFiles/rcbsPdf/LittleDandyChart.pdf

I need to replace my front sight on my 686+. I was thinking about putting a vortex red dot on it, but idk if i want to do that or not. It is a few screws, easily restore it back to iron sights. Idk if i want a red dot or not on mine

I don't know about that. I have red dots on my pistols, but I have not ever thought about putting a red on my revolvers. If you do let me know how it works out!!

I have 250 model 99h. My question is how rare are they?

I do not know how rare they are, but I do believe the 250 Savage was designed t fit in the Model 99.

I have same rifle, best groups are always with 87 Sierra's & IMR 4895 although some success with 75 Hornady's & Varget, fairly consistent 1-1/2" groups with lower powered hunting scopes is what I consider excellent results. I have never achieved really good results with anything heavier. That also applies to my Sav's too. Your results shooting also indicate 5 shot groups are too much for that pencil barrel, it throwing last shot virtually every time, 3 shot is way to go. IMHO anyway!

The 250 savage is inherently accurate. I would check bedding on gun and loose scope setup.
@CloningersGarage
@CloningersGarage Ай бұрын
That's what everyone tells me. The bedding is fine and the scope is not loose. It appears that the barrels on some of these old Ruger M77 Ultralight rifles are not very good. I am just going to knock this up to a poor barrel and move on. Maybe I will replace the barrel in the future. It still works okay within 100 yds, which is all I ever used it for; many years ago. If I want something for longer range I will use one of my other rifles. Thank you for commenting and please come back for more content in the future!! 🙂

@CloningersGarage I had a M77 in 280 remington. No matter what I did , it wouldn't shoot well. Good enough for Woods hunting but not accurate enough for long range. I sold it and bought a Remington mountain rifle in 280 . This was when they first came out. It's a tack driver even with the light barrel.

I have one. Since I am in Croatia it was a no brainer since the rifle is made here and if things go sideways parts won't be a problem. Another thing that convinced me was the short stroke piston and the gas setting for suppressors. No mucking about with adjustable gas blocks, buffer tubes or even bolt carriers. Just turn the knob and stick a can on it. I used to have an M&P15 sport 2. Lovely rifle. Sold it after getting this. I'm a minimalist and don't like having too many things to worry about. I do miss the mil spec trigger though. Maybe it's best that I have never shot a nice after market trigger.

I set it on low for 4 hrs. Somewhere around 3 hrs, I do a basic pull of the chicken then around 3.5 hrs I fully pull the chicken apart. I then let it finish cooking til right at 4hrs.

Your issue is the rifle has a wilson barrel which were hit or miss in the rugers as well as the ultralights pencil weight barrel heats up quick, try cutting a small piece of index card and placing it between the barrel and the black fore end tip, this will add a little fore end pressure and help with harmonics, it may help it worked for mine, make sure your action is tightened down into the stock as well, my best luck for accuracy has been 117gr hornady sst or interlock over a max charge of h4350, velocity will be low in comparison to 87gr but still a great 150yd hunting load. Its worth a try for you as its worked for me but all barrels will be different, good luck and hope this might help.

@CloningersGarage 2 ай бұрын
Thanks!! I will try that out!! I do now have some H4350 as well. I am in the process of putting together some 100g loads and I do have a few 117 grainers as well.

Nice video!.. I'd go a little higher, maybe at least 5' off the ground. I uses landscaping timbers and wrapped aluminum dryer vent around the wood. Also spray Pam or no stick baking spray!...very slippery!

The pipe comes 10 feet long. I cut it down to 5'6", so that with 18" in the ground it is 4 feet tall. This way it is easy to get to in order to refill the feeder. This 4' height has proven to be good from several other feeders like this that we have built over the years. I also did not glue the top to the pipe because experience has shown that over the years the board will deteriorate from the weather and the birds pecking it. If I had glued, it it would be not be possible to take off the top and just replace the board, while reusing the toilet flange and the actual bird feeder. If you have any questions, please comment below. Have a great day and God bless the USA!!

1400 fps with a 158gr bullet out of a 4 inch barrel is pretty impressive. I have a 6" 686 and I've never shot lead bullets out of it, so I may give the blue bullets a try. I also have a Henry .357 rifle with a 20 inch barrel and I'm really curious to see how they will perform in it with that 16.9 gr load. I'm looking for a cartridge load that comes close to maximizing performance in both guns.

Work up to it as I did; It is over all published maxs. It would probably be really good out of that 20in. Henry. Let me know how it goes!

@CloningersGarage
@CloningersGarage 3 ай бұрын
No, I'm actually right eye dominate, but with my contacts in I have to shoot as if i am left eye dominate in order to see the sights. So yes I can see how you would think that. I actually have moved to shooting mostly red dot optics on my handguns due to this. (my contacts are left for near vision and right for far) With red dots I can just shoot with both eyes open; much better with my aging eyesight!!

I build and sell AR 10 uppers for hunters who want extreme accurate AR 10 in something other than what the AR 10 is commercially chambered on. I am just now adding the 250 Savage to my AR 10 uppers going to be sold. I use Pac Nor SS super match barrels with all the other parts are from KAK Industries .

I love my Lil Dandy powder measures. I've tested the consistency of the throws while using it a few different ways. The most consistent is mounting it in a powder measure stand secured on a solid surface. But for plinking ammo, handheld is very fast. I'll even mount it on a turret press from time to time. I have 25 rotors. I store them in a 12 ga shotshell ammo box from MTM. Good vid! 😊
