@CloningersGarage9 күн бұрын
These are loaded to mag length: 2.26" COAL for the 75g BTHP. I have done some 75g ELD-M before and that COAL was too long to fit in normal magazines. (had to single feed the eldm's , but they shot very very) There are aftermarket magazines that will allow for longer COAL but I have not invested in those yet. In some of my other videos I have loaded up 73g eldm's and the are good to go at mag length: 2.26"

I knew an old rancher who used a Savage Model 99 in 250-3000 shooting 100 grain Partitions to hunt pronghorn. His rifle wore a simple but reliable Leupold 4x38. When he hunted pronghorn he would setup near a dirt tank and would kill a buck almost every year. His shots were almost never over 200 yards since he had the patience of Job. I asked him why he didn’t use his 270 and he replied, This rifle has a classy look and I love the thought of using a cartridge that is simple and gets the job done. I thought, Well, that covers that!

If you want a 25-06, just get one. Running those pressures, disclaimers aside, is irresponsible. If you're going to do this kind of thing, keep it to yourself.
@CloningersGarage3 ай бұрын
To each his own. Modern bolt action rifles in 250 Savage can easily be loaded above book max (45,000 cup) without pressure signs. As stated before, the saami pressure was set at 45,000 CUP or 50318 psi when it came out in 1915, due to the 250 Savage cartridge being used in lever actions. Modern bolt guns can easily handle 62,000 psi; thus resulting in higher muzzle velocities. Thus the experiment was a success. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
@marksellers48753 ай бұрын
@CloningersGarage Sorry to disagree. It is irresponsible to advocate exceeding industry pressure standards. Your disclaimer will not protect you if someone chooses to act on what you're doing. You're demonstrating exceeding known safety standards. You have not shown any pressure testing apparatus and therefore have no idea what your pressures actually are. There are too many variables in ballistics to just cross your fingers and hope for the best. And c.u.p./ l.u.p. and psi do not have direct conversion standards. Ie, 45000 cup in the .250 Savage and in the 7x57 are not equivalent, and do not convert to psi. You can do what you want with your rifles. Finger, eyes, etc. But putting it out there for less experienced folk is asking for a lawsuit. Just because one can, it doesn't automatically follow that one should. I'm not trying to pick a fight. Just trying to spare some real trouble. Consult legal counsel if you doubt what I'm saying. Cheap insurance.

These AR 10 upper in 250 are being built and sold to hunters so with the 1-10 twist rate I am getting near same hole bullet patterns on targets shooting 101 grain Barns LRX 25 cal and 1/4 MOA from the 25 cal Hornaday 117 gran SST with both bullets I am using 33.3 grains of 4064 Accurate powder now that may seem like allot for powder charge but the primers tell me I am top lead and still good but no more powder . I haven't yet checked FPS but that is coming. This 250 Savage works so well in the AR 10 right from the start with no feed problems I have to wonder why no other AR rifle builder ever offers AR 10s in 250 Savage. AR 10s can be found in 22-250 the child case of the 250 Savage and that works great in AR10s. So far whatever load in the 250 Savage I feed the AR 10 is just works without any problem. I even have used 5 brands of AR 10 magazines and still no feeding problems with the 250 Savage in all of the AR 10 upper in 250 Savage made and sold.

I normally find that the factory seconds are.....sometimes accurate lol. I mean they are seconds so that means something is wrong with them. Normally with factory seconds with poly tips, it's the tip that's wonky. Shooting these at hot loads will never make them accurate, you will have to lower the speed a bit to make them seconds poly tip bullets accurate. I have factory seconds 77gr bthp and 88gr eld. Used the 77gr in my 16inch AR-15 and I can do 1 inch groups at 100 when I lower my velocities a bit. I use the 88gr in my 22arc and I find it more accurate with lower velocities also. I'm using vithavouri n140 powder in both calibers

@Mother_Father_3 ай бұрын
Why did you load the first 5 with only 34 grains?
@CloningersGarage3 ай бұрын
I look at several different reloading manuals. Hodgdon has the max load with IMR 3031 as 34g, so I started with that load. The max pressure by SAAMI is 45,000 cup. I know that is low per modern standards but that is what the specs are for a cartridge developed in 1915 for the Savage Model 99 lever action. I started at this load with the intention of trying to reach pressures that are possible in modern bolt action rifles. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

The felt recoil is because of the synthetic stock. If you use Devcon on the fore end to stiffen it up and put a little bit of weight. Fill the stock with silicone rubber to help in recoil management. It also makes the rifle shoot much more accurately.

A few years back Smith and Wesson built some .357 mag. revolvers that would not stand up to the maximum pressure as stated by SAAMI in loading manuals. They were able to get SAAMI to lower the maximum pressure in loading manuals. When loading for newer revolvers you will need to make sure you use a newer reloading manual. There is a difference in maximum powder charge in all my older manuals than there is in my newer books. It may only be a problem with newer S&M revolvers I don't know. Just be aware.
