Good group of heifers. Smart to have the older cow in there. Always a challenge getting everyone fed vs that one who gorges itself. We have had to learn that here with pigs and chickens lol. Gosh 2026 seems far off. Always a waiting game with livestock it seems. Glad their digestive system did well with the food adjustment. They get fed once a day right?
@TheCowEmporium16 сағат бұрын
Thankfully they just get fed once a day! When we start to feed barley we really have to make sure nobody gets too much. Don’t work too hard today friend! 🎄❤️

Truck is called "Terex titan" 💪 I'll be paragraph guy for once, The Terex 33-19 "Titan" was a prototype off-highway, ultra class, rigid frame, three-axle, diesel/AC electric powertrain haul truck designed by the Terex Division of General Motors and assembled at General Motors Diesel Division's London, ON, Canada assembly plant in 1973. Only one 33-19 was ever produced and it was the largest, highest capacity haul truck in the world for 25 years. After 13 years in service, the 33-19 was restored and is now preserved on static display as a tourist attraction in Sparwood, BC, Canada.

I've seen trucks this size or bigger on mines here in South Africa and their size always blows my mind. Out of interest how is the tyre mounted to the rim? With a press?
@FalloutboyCANКүн бұрын
@DanielDavis-h6s we are cowboys haha, I had a 7 ton knuckle picker and would essentially lather the rim in tire grease and it would slide on like a charm with the knuckles boom, they are multi piece rims so that made it alot easier. Chain the flange and snapring on the top and leave it on until you get about a quarter ways then you can take off the chain without worry of that heavy metal falling on you haha
@DanielDavis-h6sКүн бұрын
@@FalloutboyCAN damn bro! Must have been tough work. How did you get into the business? I am a diesel mechanic and I own a shop. I bought a truck tyre changer this year which I thought was a pretty big piece of equipment but now it's feeling pretty small 🤣

@DanielDavis-h6s haha honestly it's a long story that involves me in highschool applying for a simple passenger tire tech job, breaking my collarbone at the skatepark on my first day, getting fired, and then they came back because no one wants to touch tires haha. It's been a year since I've worked on them, but I'm getting back into my service truck in January, I thought i hated tires. Turns out I'm one of those rare fellas that misses it 🤣

It's amazing the difference in what ya'll feed your heifers/cows compared to what we do. And it all depends on location and weather conditions. All ours get is hay. And not always, because there's usually enough grass even in winter. We do put out round bales for them when it's cold. But other than the occasional sack of cubes to get them to come into the corrals....we don't feed any grain.
@TheCowEmporiumКүн бұрын
I wish we had fresh grass year round Gwen! There are producers here that only feed hay, not that many though. They usually don’t have crop land to grow grains. It’s hard to keep weight up on cattle without feeding them grain when it gets cold here. Merry Christmas to you guys. 🎄❤️

Good morning Annette, how much hay do you need to have stored, for let's say 10 cows through the winter months?
@TheCowEmporium8 күн бұрын
Heya Jen! A basic dry feed requirement for cows is about 26 pounds of hay a day. Cows will voluntarily eat 2.5 % of their body weight in feed each day. So say your cows are 1200 pounds and you need to feed them for 200 days before summer pasture is ready if you have it ( because we live in Canada and winter is forever…😆) If your bales are 1200 pounds it looks like you need about 60 hay bales for 10 cows for a winter season. Or if you are thinking small square bales each cow would likely eat one per day. That doesn’t take into account waste that happens so I’d plan on more feed than that even. Happy Monday! Take care. 🌺
@northerngirlhobbies8 күн бұрын
@@TheCowEmporium thank you for the info. The small square bales aren't really a common thing here, so we'd be looking at the big rounders. Yes, winter seems like forever. I watched a video of seed starting this morning from a Canadian channel and I was about ready to either throw up, cry or both. I'm not ready to even think about it yet! Happy Monday!
