You could’ve saved all that backdraging by just having the machine in all wheel steer and do a “sweep” from the side to get the snow behind the vehicles. We have 3 of these toolcats running in our fleet and do the “sweep” all the time, behind cars, at garage doors etc.

I've been plowing 15 years. That is easy to do with plow truck . The amount of insanely difficult driveways in western ny is daily life for us. Up massive hillsides with major grades and turns. Slick heavy snow isn't gonna be friendly to a inverted blower . I have a 92 protovos with hydro wings and front mount 10'4" custom modifed mvp3 plow on my 73hp tractor .truck has the same plow on it. It honestly is dependent on operator. A crap operator with no knowledge will not be able to plow it. But someone who's plowed thousands of driveways parking lots knows how to do it efficiently. You did a great job . If you added the hydro wings to the blower you can get even closer to edges . Simple install if you have a spare remote available. Or run a summit hydraulics rear remotes add on to stock remotes and get all of the functions using that.

The only major downside I find with plowing with a blade is making sure you are going to have enough room to push the snow all year and more of a potential to damage lawns if you have to push their snow onto the grass for the season

I'm curious, is there a threshold of snow that the Muskox + Toolcat combo is better than the Tractor and inverted blower setup? I live in Winnipeg, Canada. This is prairie country where most of our snow is dry and comes in smaller batches. We have no lake effect snow in our area. Snow fall amounts: Winnipeg - 44.8 inches Keweenaw - 300 inches Most snow falls are 1-3 inches What would you recommend?

I would go inverted with viper cutting edge. That setup is cheaper, easier to operate, and faster. The toolcat is cool, but jack of all trades is a master of none.

I love your weight set up in the bucket. I just purchased front wheel weights from Texas and installed those. I have a plow on the front also then I put studs in the front tire so I could steer when plowing it kind of works I think to use it as a plow I would have to remove the blower in the back.
@allupsnowblowing11 ай бұрын
We run the weight kit 90% of the time. During big storms we’ll run a bucket up there to help clear around mailboxes. But the bucket is a lot more of a liability (i.e. easier to hit things) so we custom made the weight kit using the front weight kit from JD and a skid steer carrier plate.

So how do you like it? Would you buy it again? What size machine are you running it on?
@allupsnowblowing Жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremy. I run it on a toolcat UW53. I do like the Muskox. I think it’s the best option for a toolcat or a skid steer. Would I buy it again? No, but that is because I do residential snow removal and have found that a John Deere 4066R + Inverted snowblower is faster. There are some driveways you can’t do with an inverted though. I turned those customers down this year. So if you can do what you need to do with an inverted I would go that route. If you have to be able to blow forward, the Muskox is a great option. If you have a toolcat/skid and don’t want a tractor, then the Muskox is a great option.
@jeremygibbs8659 Жыл бұрын
@@allupsnowblowing thank you for your response. there is no replacement for first hand experience. how does the inverted snowblower work where you are driving over the snow and cant really get any down pressure out of the 3 point blower set up? i guess you could add a hydraulic arm to add the down pressure though.

@Allupsnowblowing After about 200 driveways have you had any particular issues or things you'd change on the blower? I have a toolcat and am looking into the muskox
@tmbouman Жыл бұрын
Hey Dan. No issues. I have gone through a fair amount of normal wear parts, but I have cleared hundreds of driveways with it. As for changing, sometimes the dual auger chain tensioner gets loose but we check it before we go out each time. Have to tighten it a couple times a season. Additionally, it tends to leave a fair amount of snow on the road. With the right technique you can prevent this, but I would it collected snow more effectively.

@@allupsnowblowing Great! Thank you for the reply. I was thinking on getting this set up but for my residence since I am in no way related to the plow business. How much would you charge me if I was a potential customer? Do you charge the same for plowing and snowblowing? Just curious if the set up would make sense. How does the Muskox compare to an inverted? I really want it to work because I can use a Toolcat/skidsteer all year, but it seems too slow to be as profitable as a tractor with an inverted blower.
@allupsnowblowing Жыл бұрын
Depends on the complexity of driveways. Muskox can do any type of driveway. Inverted blower cant (e.g. a drive you have to blow forward with). Assuming you just have driveways that inverted works with, then yes inverted is faster (~50% in my experience) and the whole rig is less expensive. So short answer, if you have all driveways that work with an inverted then I would recommend an inverted. Im running 3 inverted and 1 toolcat this season.
@blackbeardlawncare7811 Жыл бұрын
@@allupsnowblowing That's very helpful... and disappointing. There is not much work for a tractor outside of snowblowing in my area. I'm just not sure I can justify $80k+ for a machine that is only for snow.

I ran the muskox with a skid before and the visibility in the toolat is a lot better. Especially backing up. In the skid the arms during back drag are like right at window height which makes it a challenge backing into the road. Additionally the toolcat road speed like 18.5mph which is good. The main issues with the toolcat is cost and less HP.

@allupsnowblowing Жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, yes I have a complete backup machine. I would say when you are just starting out you have to have two machines, because they do break. My best recommendation for accommodating equipment failure is to make sure you (or someone on your team) is very mechanically inclined so you dont have to rely on your dealer when something breaks.
