nice work! may want to add a bit of expo to the rudder. May help with takeoffs. I have 25% on my 1/4 scale D7
@mrvoyagermАй бұрын
Normal speed for 1/4 scale would be about 50 kph up to maybe 60 flat out. Slowing down would not only look more scale but give you a lot more flight time to boot.
@mrvoyagermАй бұрын
There was no evidence of right rudder found during the course of the investigation.
@flycubflyАй бұрын
It’s obvious , you literally had no right rudder in there on the take-off roll. In fact, as it started to roll left , you were getting left rudder in there and it kept increasing before you hit the ground.
@johnmorrison1180Ай бұрын
Looking at the video, I could see LH rudder input all the way from lift off to impact, and I guess you were inputting RH aileron to correct which just accentuated slow speed LH wing drop. With these old birds its all about rudder, rudder, rudder. Great looking model and a good group of mates, you'll be fine!
@andre-dx4ywАй бұрын
@johnmorrison1180 yeah turns out there was up elevator that needed trimming out, she was trying to fly before she was ready, after trimming she had 4 great flights and take technique was not changed apart from getting used to how much right rudder she wanted.
@NoncenxАй бұрын
agree - on the 3rd flight where you say you need more right rudder because the plane was turning left, it looked like you gave it left rudder by mistake. As you began each takeoff, I was watching the rudder (past experience myself) to see how much you used. I didn't see any on the first 2 flights, then left on the 3rd. This is being nit picky, I think you did a great job and it looks wonderful on the ground and air
@NathanWaldockАй бұрын
Great comment Johnmorrison 🤙🤙🤙🤙
@FarmerFpvАй бұрын
A rubbing axle would cause a ground loop, not a wing stall. You lifted up too early which caused a wing tip stall. Some Bipe's need lots of airspeed to get off the ground. Always correct with the rudder at low speed not ailerons as it will accelerate the wing stall. You should make a throttle rudder mix for take offs Put it on a switch to correct the right rudder the more throttle you give it then switch it off once you gain enough altitude. I do it to all my taildraggers. Mixes work wonders on tail draggers. Especially for making turns, adding aileron rudder mix makes your turns much nicer. Let's you focus more on enjoying the flight.
@andre-dx4ywАй бұрын
@FarmerFpv yep I totally get the logic, it's just after fixing the axle I did nothing different on take offs and it was a completely different plane.i have a rudder aileron mix which as you say really helps.thanks for the comment

Thanks for the vidio. I have one that I will be converting to electric.
@vinceburling4613Ай бұрын
Thats what happens when you lift off with out using all the available power,plane leaves the ground below its flying speed,and drops a wing because it has stalled. A rubbing axle will only cause a ground loop at the best.
@FarmerFpvАй бұрын
Exactly. A stuck wheel axle would cause an immediate ground loop, not a tip stall. He also tried to correct it with the right aileron which accelerated the tip stall. Always use the rudder at low airspeed as the ailerons create more drag exacerbating the tip stall.

Hey you guys loved watching your video, great recovery by the way on your flip.quick question if you don’t mind? What would you set your throttle and pitch curve for a new starter ? Just to dull it down a bit , I’ve already broken my landing gear as it was a bit lively when I came down to land.oh well all good stuff.😂👍loved your video though hope there’s more to come.All the best.
@andre-dx4yw3 ай бұрын
Hi Fox, so when i was just starting out my pitch curve was calmed down a bit on the negative, so no flips or tricks but just hovering i had my my settings at something like 38,50 75,100, basically so that if i panicked i wouldnt drive the heli into the floor at 100% negative pitch, obviously as my confidence improved i changed it to enable me to do tricks as seen in my later videos, my maximum pitch was about 11 deg each way and throttle on idle up depended on the model but high enough to be stable as higher headspeed helps with stability,hope this helps, this is what i did, as i gained confidence i increased the aggressiveness
