I'm just going to be blunt but as a former film reviewer and freelance journalist , I don't consider any of these people you mentioned actual film critics. These seem like more movie fans with a lot of opinions and that doesn't make you a film critic or reviewer. I don't have an issue with people who simply have film channels on you tube and talk about movies per se or even analyze films. That's fine. But you tube movie reviewer is an oxymoron.
@JangoDiscКүн бұрын
What do you think does makes someone an "actual film critic" ? What's the difference between someone sharing their opinion about a movie on KZbin vs sharing their opinion on another website or publication?
@writeralbertlanier34343 сағат бұрын
@@JangoDisc A film critic is a working professional and a person sharing an opinion about a movie is simply a person whose opinions don't matter .

On the topic of Scorsese vs. Tarantino, Scorsese's documentaries are also amazing. That "one filmography for the rest of my life" hypothetical was cool. I'd definitely pick Scorsese, no question. One day, I can watch Goodfellas, and the next I can watch a George Harrison documentary (which may just be the best Beatles documentary too). Definitely more versatility. Also... just as people, Scorsese gives trustworthy dad, where Tarantino gives that high school friend you outgrew.

Pulp fiction is my least favorite quinten tarrantino film. And I can't really tell you why. I love all of his films, but maybe it was overhyped or something, I've seen it many times and it just doesn't do it for me 🤷♂️

The thing is fans hate pandering that Hollywood does. I hate it. Look at the South Park episode Panderverse. There is a reason why that was made in regards to Culture Warriors. I don’t even like Nerdrotic but I do have some agreements with him. No one cares about Star Wars now. Marvel has lost popularity. Disney has gone down a bad road.

With harsh critics it Depends on the individual and how he approaches movies. Your movies Sucks would be a Harsh critic I think he sounds too much like Oscar the Grouch. Too negative for my taste and not positive enough. He is like Simon Cowell when he was an American Idol judge.

Picking between Tarantino or Scorcese to watch until the end of life it’s easy because Martin has almost 3 times more movies than Quentin. But picking someone for being better between these two is indeed very hard for me.

Don’t know if you’ve seen When Harry Met Sally, but that’s probably the best romcom of all time. It made me realize that romcoms can actually be amazing. When Harry Met Sally is the main movie I think of whenever I’ve been in a relationship with a girl. Better than Mean Girls. I’m being so serious.

I definitely recommend the Herzog version of Nosferatu. Adjani plays Lily Rose-Depp's role in it and in my opinion it is the most depthful and nuanced performance of her career. The only thing I would change about it is that it's a bit slow-burning, like most depictions of the story, but I think the themes within the narrative are best explored here. There's a scene with rats in it, and you'll know it when you see it--like Eggers' version, but much more tragic to me. Also Francis Cord Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula is my favorite adaptation of the Stoker text tied to Herzog Nosferatu. The idea of sexual repression in the gothic 18th century time period I think is done more interestingly in Coppola's version in my opinion. I found Eggers' version somewhat pointless, although I can understand why people might like it. Frankly, I am a bit jealous of those who can see something in it that I can't. I think his probably has the best cinematography & score of any of the films with the 'Nosferatu' name though, Eggers has said it was partially inspired by Tim Burton's Batman Returns and I could absolutely tell where that came from because the best moments in the film are taken from that movie.
