@@ben99ny69 the pacing is all over the place, the first 30-40 minutes build to absolutely nothing, just for it to kick up I. The last 20 minutes or so. The cheesy b movie aura from the movie is not something that Tarantino excels at. Many of the characters seem very shallow and underdeveloped, bar maybe Kurt Russel’s character. If you want to see good stunts, watch mad max. Those movies were made decades before and do a much better job.
@ben99ny69

@@Iendhchdhbs284s You are being way to critical of a B movie that is double featured with another B movie that's got a girl with a gun for a leg. Of course the characters are gonna be shallow. Been a while since I last saw it. But we got a serial killer who kills his victims with his stunt car. On top of that we have tarantino dialogue. Kurt Russell's character stunt man Mike is fun. Movie is very memorable. It also compliments its sister film, planet terror. The film is so fast paced that they straight up skipped scenes. Death proof balances that out.

Not necessarily a "hot-take" but A24 is the best and worst thing in helping out indie directors, but also developing too much of that "style" that gets kind of bland when mimicked after a while

While I think Pulp Fiction is the best film between Tarantino and Scorsese, I must choose Scorsese because he has done more great films than Tarantino. Sure he is more versatile, but Scorsese has done so many more films than Tarantino in general, very few of which I did not like. So Scorsese wins.

Pwoaaaahh Jango I love ya mate but I gotta disagree on 1917 - the cinematography for me was so memorable! The burning village, the plane crashing, and that final run through the battlefield at the end, some of my favourite cinema moments of all time and for me, definetly emboldened by the cinematography. That's the beauty of a video like this though it's a great call, gets the comment section firing and the views coming in! Another great video mate!

My hot takes Alien 3 is amazing. Not masterful unlike the first two, but still an greatly directed fun time. Joker: Folie a Deux is an amazing film. It's a terrible sequal to the first Joker because it misunderstands the character of Arthur and Joker. Joker Folie a Deux is a beautiful and tragic film about the mentally ill escaping into fantasy together because of a bad life, and how that escape into fantasy ends up badly. It works by itself, but if you combine it with the first film, it makes no sense. Zack Snyder is not a bad director, he's a bad writer. All of Snyder's worst films are bad because of their script, not because Zack Snyder directed them. He could use a skilled partner in the writing room, or maybe he could have someone else write his stories into reality.

“I love all 3 Indiana Jones movies”…. xD My hot take for Lord of the Rings fans: The theatrical cuts are better. The pacing makes a world of difference to the flow and feeling of the storytelling. I’ll admit Return of the King theatrical feels like it’s lacking a few scenes toward the end, but overall it’s still better than the extended cut.

-I don't think that fanservice is automatically bad, I think that the problem is when a movie relies solely on it to generate emotion. -I think that watching a movie in a phone is ok. -Into the Spider Verse is overhyped to me. I cannot connect to it. I should expand on this on another comment. -Not the hottest take, but Tarantino is right, OUATIH is his best movie. -I don't care if The Force Awakens is a New Hope remake. A good movie is a good movie, and TFA is made with exceptionall craft, has good acting and some really good action sequences. It's the best sequel to me. -Rogue One is SO OVERRATED it hurts. People only like it because of the ending.

I'm pretty sure Raiders being the favorite is considered a hot take because a lot of people online say Last Crusade is the best. My hot take: Last Crusade is considered the best because it's more dramatic with the father-son dynamic. However, this aspect isn't so strong that it stands out from the rest of the franchise. It's not like The Dark Knight or Casino Royale where those movies leaned into their dramatic elements head on and basically feel like some drama/blockbuster hybrid. In comparison, the central dynamic in Last Crusade is good, but it feels more like a garnish so people can identify it as "the one with the dad."

Hot take: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull wasn’t that bad. People complain about surviving a nuke with fridge scene but the second movie has a BS part of using a raft to parachute off a plane as well. Fans barely complain about that. Cate Blanchett’s villain is an underrated villain with an interesting motivation. Shia was fine as his son to me. I agree with the criticism of using aliens instead of a supernatural threat, but was still an entertaining and very well made action movie despite that.

I think the fact that tarantino writes his films makes him a better director (though this is a pointless discussion). Taxi Driver and Raging bull could've been made without Scorsese. Maybe not better, but who knows. The film wouldn't have even existed without Paul Shrader. If Brian De Palma was given the scripts to Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, he would be put in this discussion instead of Scorsese.

For the record, I love both Scorsese's and Tarantino's work but the biggest problem I have with some of Tarantino's filmography, especially later on, is that he can veer on being quite self-indulgent. Some of his extended dialogue sequences can sometimes drag on for no real reason outside of him flexing how much of a great screenwriter he thinks he is. Also, Quentin, cut your movies down in length a bit. You're not making a LOTR-sized epic here. You're making a movie about a bunch of crooks who are stuck in a cabin and hate each other. Scorsese is in my opinion also far better at handling and incorporating more mature themes into his work like loneliness, corruption, naivety, etc. Tarantino's movies can sometimes feel like a teenage fratboy made them like ''Dude, wouldn't it be cool if his fucking head exploded?''

Parasite is a great movie that ends too quickly. By the time the flood happens, it feels like the movie is just getting started. I think Bong Joon-ho was in total control of the movie and could afford a lopsided structure while keeping it entertaining and accessible. If it went on for an extra 30-45ish minutes, then this could've been one of the best movies ever. The Handmaiden (from the director of the original Oldboy) is basically if Parasite was even crazier

I'm not sure about specific plot points. I just feel like showing the mom and son of the Kim family dealing with the aftermath a bit longer would make more a more unique structure. Like to start, the events we saw after the birthday party could've been the second half as opposed to a montage. And it could still play into the whole exploration of no plan because you spend 30-45 minutes seeing all the effort the son makes to reunite with his dad and by the end, it's all for naught. Basically, it feels like a waste of time, but that's the point (to show the uselessness of the son's plan).

My hot takes: I'd rather watch Tenet more than anything Nolan made before The Dark Knight. Akira Kurosawa is good but overrated and pales in comparison to directors like Masahiro Shinoda and Shohei Imamura. La Dolce Vita is the best film ever made. More movies should have one scene that everybody hates and dreads, whether it's because it's boring, irrelevant, offensive, etc. Blade Runner 2049 is ugly and the fact people think it isn't indicates that moviegoers are degrading as much as movies themselves. PG-13 was a mistake and should be abolished.
