16 possible combinations. Least ridiculous part is the mystique of having to push down. Could use a padlock point, to attach a chain, so stupid criminals can't wander off with it. Not knowing what was in it, criminals may leave it. I still wouldn't give $20 for it....

@belegionary right exactly right by the bed, I used to sneak cigarettes from my dad's dresser and id find the gun when I was 12 years old but I'm 49 back before adhd meds, correct Terminology I amphetamine salts giving to children way before the 🧠 is developed and the internet and games while they are growing messes alot of children up, but getting back to the point you never heard anything about school shootings in the 80s and 90s got to be a reason in behind it.

There are numerous problems with this product: 1. It’s intended for temporary storage of a gun in use (ex., transportation to a range), but many buyers are using it as an alternative to a safe for routine, daily storage of a bedside home defense gun that may be left unattended for long periods of time. It is not secure enough for that purpose. 2. The company’s marketing is dangerously irresponsible. They claim that it’s a “rentention device, not a safe” in order to mitigate liability, but their most recent ad refers to it as “The fastest gun safe you’ll ever own.” In addition, their videos feature it in use to secure a bedside gun in exactly the same capacity as a safe. Realistically, most people are not transferring their gun from a proper safe to the StopBox each night then back into a safe upon waking. Their marketing contradicts their own statements and may mislead the public into believing that it’s a viable alternative to a safe. It’s not. A child could open it within a few minutes. 3. Contrary to the company’s claims, there are only 54 combinations, not 81. They have miscalculated the number and are misrepresenting the product. Amusingly, they undercounted the permutations. The correct calculation is (4x3)x(3x3)=108, not 3x3x3x3=81, because the choice of the first button assigned is a choice between 1-4, while the second is chosen from the remaining 3. BUT, that’s 108 permutations, which reflect double the number of unique combinations, because they account for order and therefore include inverse duplicates of every pairing (ex., A1+C2 and C2+A1 are two distinct permutations, but they’re the same combination). Most “combination” locks are actually permutation locks, but the StopBox is a true combination lock; that is, the sequence doesn’t matter because both buttons are pressed simultaneously. As such, we must disregard those inverse duplicates by dividing by 2 (108/2=54). Finally, it ships with a default combination, accounting for one possibility, so there are 53 user selectable combinations in addition to the default, for a total of 54. 4. If they don’t understand how many combinations their own lock is capable of, I question their competence to design and manufacture such products. 5. I would never trust this product to secure a firearm from access by children. Even allowing a generous 5 seconds per entry, it would take only 4.5 minutes to try every possible combination; realistically, it could be done in half that time. The company’s claims that a child would have to know how it works are incredibly naive. Almost every kid you see now has a smartphone; they can easily and quickly Google the information or watch a KZbin video. 6. There is no need to compromise safety and security for fast access. Companies like American Security, Fort Knox, Steelhead, V-Vine, and Viking have offered heavy gauge steel safes with Simplex locks for years that are far superior to the StopBox for any application other than lightweight portability.

You don't mention the cables available to attach the box to a solid fixture in your vehicle to keep it from getting lifted. One note buy, the cable from Snap Safe they are cheaper there then from Stop Box, and stop box gets them from Snap Safe. I find it interesting Snap Safe sells cables included with their lock boxes. Stop box sells them separate. So you pay over $100 for the box and an addtional $25 for the cable. These boxes are good I guess, but in States like California they are not CADOJ approved so you could not use them for storage per se.

Received two as a gift from someone who is not a gun person at all. It's a shame they spent so much money on these...they're worth maybe $20 at most. If you just jam all the keys at once, it will open. This will keep out someone whose hands aren't large or strong enough to hit the buttons...maybe...but I would not trust this thing to keep a 5 year old out of it. To be honest, I wouldn't trust this thing to keep a 2 year old out indefinitely. I can't think of a use case where this is sufficient protection for a loaded gun.

The StopBox Pro actually has 81 possible combinations. It's a handgun retention device. They don't market it as a safe. I call it a safe in the video only because "hand gun retention device" is not a commonly known terminology.

When I originally saw this, I was all in, but then I watched video after video of people handing them to their kids, and 30 seconds later the kid had it open. Too few combinations. Also, the electronic Vaultek Lifepod is better, cheaper, and TSA compliant. If this was 1/4 the price, I would use it as a case for my more expensive handguns, and then place the whole thing in a much larger gun safe. So for me it's a hard pass. What could they do to make it safer? Mirror the buttons to the other side so both hands have to press buttons to open it. 10 buttons total.
