I've carried my Benchmade Barrage for like 6 years now. Beat the heck out of it and it still works flawlessly. Got the black tanto with serrations. The opening and closing gets easier once you break it in a bit, but still opens quick. Highly recommend it.

for bonus points, with the osborne, you can actually flick it open, just pull down the axis lock and flick your wrist.... you can close it that way too. I LOVE my osborne... it is my normal EDC... I have a crapload of knives but i always come back to that one. It basically disappears into your pocket, but is there when you need it to be.

RE: the clip. That's standard for a black oxide coating, not used. Much more durable than the black painted ones or even powder coated.

My first Benchmade was the Barrage as a gift for performing a wedding. Serrated edge and killer vibes. A fantastic model but Not my favorite EDC due to size and aggressive nature. Needed servicing after a few years due to a wonky omega spring; free of course. I own a Bugout clone and a genuine 535-4 that are great EDCs and get lots of attention especially in the kitchen and cardboard box duty. However my favorite Benchmade model may be the Griptillian. It’s a workhorse around the yard and just feels amazing. I don’t get the appeal of the 940.

My Osborne’s came looking a little worn on the clip. I think that’s just how they are. But is my favourite for sure.

The barrage felt better than the bugout and Osborne to me. Maybe cause the size and the assisted opening. But all are good knives

The 940 clip is black oxide. It’s supposed to look that way. And the satin blade has a light stonewash.

I’m curious if you are forcing your way through the secondary lock on the back make sure it’s slide all the way to the back before closing the barrage

I’ve seen some guys torture testing the Bugout. Batoning and processing fire wood, stuff like that. Things you should never use a folding knife for. It blazed through everything. Incredibly tough knives.

Are you positive the Barrage is a true Benchmade? I have never seen that model with a Tanto point and a non-serrated edge.

The “Used” look of the pocket clip is called stone washing. It is black coated though so actually called blackwash

Interesting. I don't think I've ever gotten a fake. Most of the knives I buy though, if not all of them, are direct from the manufacture on Amazon, not a random third-party seller.

@@belegionary I ended up having to send a Paramilitary 2 into Spyderco because the fakes are so hard to spot and the hardware on the knife looked off to me. It turned out to be legit, but the Spydey rep confirmed that Amazon has a HUGE counterfeit problem and to buy from AD's when possible. I also found out that the scammers on Amazon will have fake knives and will order the real thing off Amazon, replace the real knife with the fake one, then send it back to Amazon under their generous return policy. The knife then gets inspected, appears to be legit, and then gets put back into inventory and then someone else orders it they get a fake knife.

I can tell you I have bought what I felt was counterfeit products one Amazon. It wasn’t a knife but sennheiser headphones. I ordered one and it had issues. The felt on the ear pads were very itchy and the wiring had a wire tie like a bread tie with no plastic wrapping. So when I exchanged it the second one came in totally different. Very smooth non itchy ear pads,a nice Velcro strap instead of a bread tie and plastic wrapping with nicer presentation. I though hmm that’s odd. I’m pretty sure the first was a fake.

The ones that feel cheap and flimsy and bend are fake. Grivory doesn’t feel bad, but it is the weakness of the knife. I would buy a carbon fibre bugout… maybe, but not grivory.
