Nicholas Coppala his REAL name. Francis Ford Coppola's nephew. Boring monotonous actor. Who needs talent when you're in the Ole Boy circle.

I think this movie depicts how criminals start serving their time long before the arm of the law has reach of them. For some, their hell has begun, as if God and Lucifer have joined forces just to exact judgement on their mortal lives, long before they die, long before that long arm of the law has gotten hold of their mortal form. They have suffered what criminals make each other suffer. Perhaps, that is what hell means. I can be no spokesman of God, literally, I do not believe in God, but perhaps Christians were right. Act in the way that makes other people's lives worse, so that your life becomes paradise, and your existence slowly becomes the Hell that is promised after death. In this case, as if eternity isn't long enough, Satan reaches out just to make whatever you're living that much more like whatever you're going to, depriving you of any chance of being anything worth of redemption.

I felt so sorry for Hawke's character in this movie. He genuinely does believe in the system - that if he just takes down the bad guys he'll fix the world and save lives. Hawke does a great job in this scene - you can see that the agent knows Nikolai is right, and his whole world crumbles.

Thanks for posting. Anybody get to see the VHS version of the movie, which includes an interview after the film with Robert S. McNamara? Interview was cut from other versions, such as Prime, DVD, etc. To me removing the interview is akin to removing US Civil war memorials... improving odds for repeating history. Hope I'm wrong. Cheers SV Good Karma as Grins

The impressive part is that we might have expected Cage to look smug when he says “I’m a necessary evil,” but he just looks sad. Which indicates to me that he does, in fact, appreciate seriousness of his position. Great acting choice.
