Don't wait for a week. Find enough old rusty nails nuts and bolts etc to fill a small jar. Fill with white vinegar and 2 or 3 hours later you are on your way

Great restoration, well done! But at the risk of being “that guy”, I need to point out that wearing open-toed shoes in a workshop while operating tools and dealing with heavy equipment is very unsafe. Steel toe all the way in that situation.

I love the look, but I hesitate to try it on the furniture because of the smell. How bad is it?

Do you think bamboo could work for the legs? I don’t have trees close, but, I can get bamboo easily. The thing is that I’m not sure if they are strong enough. Thanks in advance

Yeah I was spotting some stuff, made me feel better about my resto videos (still some mistakes) but cool seeing someone getting out there and hitting the record button!

As far as I can tell you never ground all of the pits out of the back side down near the edge. That means that every where the edge intersects a pit there is a nick. When in use, every nick in the blade will leave a ragged line on the wood. Not really a restoration, only a prettying up.

I'm trying this with a non oak axe handle (had to de rust a bunch of tools might as well use the left overs)

Had one come into the sharpening shop a couple of days ago. Looks like it was found, whilst metal detecting. If this is what they plan to do with it, sending it to me for sharpening should have been the final step.

That was very well done! They definitely made tools better back then. I do not think many tools today could stand the test of time like this.

Personally I like a Fisher-Norris, but the long horn on this Trenton looks like it could be useful in making candelabras or other short but deep bends. Nice job breathing new life into it. Now go smash it with a hammer 🔨

Why not just use black stain please?
@mikuhatsune184Ай бұрын
If you’re still wondering, iron acetate is in fact considered a stain/dye. It’s just a traditional, easy to make stain with materials most people have at home. You can also use old nails in a jar instead of steel wool like the French typically do for an even easier recipe
@Jslim714010 ай бұрын

Why would you put a hole in a mason jar? The whole point of the design is to let pressure escape all you have to do is not tighten the lid all the way.
