The 4090 is a 1440p card. I use it on my main system and would never go to 4K because there is already not enough FPS on 1440p. The 5090 will also be a 1440p card.

RT/ Path tracing in another 5 years maybe worth it. The FPS need to be over 90 with a high mid range GPU that cost under 800USD. Maybe then I'll get on the RT train. I just bought a hellhound rx 7900xt for 640. 700 with tax. My PC upgrade cycle is 4-5 years.

Vram is still down to your individual personal needs. But buyers absolutely need to be informed. If your buying pc for your first time and your not informed or aware, buy yourself a high resolution monitor and decide you want to play ultra on everything then you absolutely can get caught out. Something like the 5070 if its 12GB i think is too low. However that gpu dependent on value might sell well with 1080p esports gamers or just gamers in general that play low settings competitive. If Vram is more important the 5070ti at 16GB is your option, again price dependent. The 5080 at 16GB im not particularly happy about again for my personal needs, but im 4k so im more dependent on vram. If i was 1440p i probably wouldnt be bothered. 1440p UW would be a push as its gonna use more than 16.9.. I can pretend to myself i wont upgrade every generation but i know i will, maybe that means im a bit more relaxed about it. Or maybe i just have a tougher life as running out of Vram in one game really isnt something I'd get stressed about.. I mean your way more concerned about vram than i am so why you'd consider buying anything less than 24GB at this point i dont know.

Ray tracing does not look that great. The 7900xt alone plays Witchfire at 4k ultra settings at way over 60fps. The xtx can eat anything you throw at it.

Why show a bunch of clips from games which have not heen PS5 Pro patched? Also, for the ones that have you don't do a side by side? My main is my Series X, but i have recently upgraded my PS5 to a Pro. I've found the upgrades can vary. Of the games i have tried which HAVE been patched, Hogwarts Legacy, GT7and FF7 rebirth are very obviously improved. Others such as Dead Island 2 just recieve a resolution bump, which is very subtle in motion. The new PS5 pro 120 hz/ 40 fps balanced mode for Wukong is also very good.

Sorry, but sometimes you sound like someone trying to sell everyone an AMD graphics card at all costs, and the only valid argument is just VRAM. Yes, Nvidia is expensive, but DLSS is the best upscaling technology, ray tracing is far better than AMD (although debatable considering the number of games over the last 6 years where you can really see the difference-maybe 5 or 6 titles, which is laughable), and for someone like me, coming from a country where we have some of the highest electricity prices, energy consumption is also very important. Am I an Nvidia fanboy? Not really, as I’m not tied to any company and I don't get a holiday card from Jensen or Lisa Su every year :) I enjoy, just like you, playing open-world games, preferably on ultra settings with at least 60 fps in 1440p. As an owner of a 4070 Ti, I think that an RTX 5070 with the same amount of VRAM is a ridiculous purchase, and no one in their right mind should buy it. RTX 5080? I’m financially ready to buy the card, but at the same time, I don't want to, and won't support price increases with each generation. If the card is more expensive than $1200, I simply won't buy it and might wait for a 'Super' version or something else from AMD or Intel-but right now, none of these companies have anything competitive in their portfolio because, for me, the point of an upgrade is only when I get at least 50% more performance in pure rasterization. In short, I pay a premium for DLSS, ray tracing performance, lower power consumption (which can also translate to noise, room temperatures during summer gaming sessions, and gaming comfort). VRAM is very important, and as a 4070 Ti user playing at 1440p, I definitely won't buy a card with less than 16GB, but that's not everything needed to convince me to try an AMD card. I started gaming on PC, then Xbox and finally PS5. I must honestly say that the PS5 Pro is the best console at the moment. games run smoother or look nicer on the pro. these are just facts. people who say the ps5 pro isn't good are just jealous that they don't have one or are xbox fanboys.

NVIDIA GPUs' higher prices and limited VRAM could actually benefit those who want more competition in the GPU market. If NVIDIA lowered their prices and offered more VRAM, there would be little reason for people to choose AMD or Intel GPUs.

I use a 1080ti, the card is now 7,5 years old. The 12GB midrange cards may be faster but only 1GB more VRAM is a joke after all that time. Imagine the GTX 1070 or even the 1060 had the same VRAM as a 7 year old high end card, they would have got 2GB. The VRAM stagnation by Nvidia is an insult to the customers. 12GB is low end, especially if you consider that RT and frame generation increase the VRAM usage even more then these cards are broken by design.

With the way our economy has been for the last few years, and the fact that more of our income is going toward SO many other things like groceries, utilities, increased rent, etc., this might be a unique situation where the average gamer decides that they can still reasonably game at a lower budget than what they might have had in years past. Without competition in the high tier market to compete with Nvidia, the prices on the 5080/5090 is going to be insane. Something else to consider with these prices for the upcoming GPU releases, what do you think is going to happen to the retail cost of the RX7900 series cards? I could see them jumping a few hundred dollars as well. Something to consider for all those holding off on buying until the new cards come out. You might not even be able to find an AMD RX7900XT or a RX7900XTX available to buy. I have been running a 7900XTX for 14 months now and I have no regrets. If your looking to game at 4k or even high 1440p I would suggest buying your cards now folks while you still have reasonable options.

This guy thanks getting 55fps with an internal reaoultion of 1080p or 70fps with a base resolution of 720p. While using lower settings and an upscaler that causes pixelated grass, flickering and broken GI, and noisy everywhere... Is better than using high settings with a base resolution of 1440p getting 80fps and an upscaler that looks better than "native" taa. Or turning on the hardware RT and getting 60+ fps with max settings outputting at 4k upscaling from 1440p. Please dont say the ps5 pro uses rdna4 ray tracing. If thats true than rdna4 is dead in the water. A 60CU gpu getting worse rt performance than a 3070 while using lower rt settings is a bad sign. Tying an underclocked 2080ti that came out 6 years ago as shown by digital foundry is not good. If you enjoy the rt performance of the ps5 pro and pssr you would love a 4060 ti using dlss. It'll give a much better looking and performing experience than the ps5 pro.

Yesterday I compared Spider-man on my 7800xt and PS5 Pro. Ray tracing on the pro is better, but the 7800xt had a little bit more detail. Of course, the difference in detail really isn’t something you’d notice while playing the game. People love to hate on the Pro, but it is an impressive console. It is a noticable improvement over the base PS5 in terms of being able to play at higher graphics settings at 60fps.

They have patched this game many times since you played it on the 4070. Also, the CPU was the issue back in the day and not the GPU. The 4070 super is comparable to the 3090. Which is much more powerful than the PS5 pro.
