Mine comes tomorrow thanks to this video 🙏 Cannot wait for my first type on it. I've been on a 60 key for like 2 months and I just can't get used to missing arrow keys, delete, insert, and the F row (even though I haven't had that row for a while).

if you have ever tried to carry found a Keychron Q6 max on the go then you know you need a case... that keyboard is not just expensive stock it gets even more expensive when you mode it with better switches and keycaps. Its just way easier to carry it in a case.

we work in the office, but don't have assigned desks, so we have to bring our own laptops/accessories with us or we have to use the generic HP cheappo keyboards. rather than throw it into a backpack/messenger bag, a case gives it more protection. that's all.

Any case long enough for a 104/108 keyboard that you recommend? I bring along two keyboards with me at all times. A razer DeathStalker V2 Pro(104) and a Tecware B68+
@Kendingro3 ай бұрын
i’ve yet to develop the funds to get into 104’s at a pace where i can buy cases for them if that makes any sense. there are a few options on amazon.

my keyboards USB female port broke, do you know the type i would need to replace it, like is it 24 pin port, was it soldered to the PCB or was it connected via a connector to the PCB, thank you, love your content
@Kendingro3 ай бұрын
thank you for the kind words. did you mean for this board in particular? the port on the fizz is micro-soldered on there. you’d need a decent soldering pen/gun and a video microscope (both are rather cheap nowadays) if you wanted to do the job yourself. i started getting into microsoldering as of late and it’s been a pretty fun time.

Same here @gcb0ss18. I'm constantly carrying my Logitech full size ultralight k/b in my backpack to work and back. If people don't work laptop-only for a group of companies where there are no keyboards at all whatsoever (you just dock your laptop onto a pair of monitors and that's it), they won't appreciate the real value of working with a full size keyboard. for 8, 9 or 10 hours … A hard case is a must, if you want your k/b to survive, at least. I'm currently using the cardboard case the k/b arrived with, when I purchased it but will eventually have to resort to a better solution, preferably with an opening on the side of the case (just to slide it in and out, without having to take the entire case off the backpack).

You're not wrong on any of this. But what you're missing is the fact that these were the best Cherry switches to be had for the next 30 years. It's easy to swap in a lighter spring, there isn't much you can do about a scratchy switch. Most people seem unaware of just how much better MX switches have gotten in the past seven-odd years.
@Kendingro5 ай бұрын
i’ve heard the same things as of late. since then, i swapped trash panda springs into some of these blacks and the difference is night and day. it’s amazing what a spring swap does if you have the patience lol
@rockets4kids5 ай бұрын
@@Kendingro Yup. That's why people sought these out, or paid big bucks to someone with the patience to re-build a set of these with a new spring and a lube job. That's what you had to do for a good Cherry switch for a very long time. These days, you can get the same thing as a budget switch straight from the factory.

Got my MOD F keyboard! That sucker was wrapped so well that it took me at least 30 minutes to get the keyboard out of the box and unwrapped. NOW? I just have to get the DIN to USB-X converter device and HOPE that IT will work.
@jtc19476 ай бұрын
I think ( based on my experience with Mod F or similar layouts) that a BIG part of the original Mod F layout with the IBM 5150 PC was for people doing DATA entry on the numeric key-pad. Of course things changed and bar coding ( 3 of 9) came along, but for other people doing hand entry, the MOD F numeric key-pad was a dream.

Vintage cherry blacks are wanted for 3 reasons: - They are broken up from years of use, making them smoother - They are full POM, which is a seemingly self lubricating plastic. Modern blacks are Nylon case + POM stem, plus its a revised mold - Blind hype They are overrated imo, but they're still a great hobby project to harvest and restore. The boards i found had hard steel plates which are also restorable!
@Kendingro7 ай бұрын
gotta say they are overrated. I’m not too big into heavy switches for anything beyond typing and even then, i just prefer inks or something. I’ve written a couple scripts with the blacks and after about 10 minutes, my fingers felt like they had biceps

FYI you can order red dragon switches at micro Center. Not a bad price at all at 10 dollars for 24 switches. I went with the browns for my gaming keys and reds on the rest of the board.
@Mmmm-jh9dz4 ай бұрын
Huh? Aren't red better for gaming than browns
@Kendingro4 ай бұрын
it really depends on what you consider good for gaming.
@MorlogMorningDigest4 ай бұрын
@@Kendingro For me its all about the feel that I get from the browns. I don't play fps games all that much and I am not that much of a typer. Also, Red Dragon switches may have the same name scheme as say cherry for example however they don't feel at all the same side by side. So if you have a red dragon keyboard I suggest trying out a bunch until you find the ones that fit you best feel wise. As for as what's best for what lets be real, we all have budget keyboards if we are watching this video right? If that's the case then feel should be more important, should it not? If we wanted the best I could do as far as travel time and actuation pressures I would go buy a wooting keyboard. People get way to caught up in numbers and stats. Not saying this is what you're doing just my perspective on this topic.

no one uses them stock. they're always spring swapped, cleaned, lubed and filmed. all you did here was showing how ignorant you are. hell, you don't even have the proper keycaps on your boards, look at the fucked bottom row on that kbd67 lmao.
@Fragspawn9 ай бұрын
I'm typing on one of these now. No nubs on the 'F' and 'J' keys, so touch typists beware. No caps or num lock lights so guess if you can. And num lock is necessary because the num pad are also your arrow keys. When I'm back on 104 key layouts, guess how I use the arrow keys now. Those born in the 70s might be unlocking some long lost kinetic memories!

Dope video. I got my RK H81 with blue switches because they have no sky cyan stock. Changed it to Gateron Milky yellow. Planned to put a tape on it but in case of this video, tape didn't change a thing. I think I just need to lube my switches. Thank you for this awesome review.

sorry you got such a shitty batch. I can personally vouch for vintage blacks, i mean these switches have around a 20 year frame so some can just be awful, and some can be increcible. I have tried some of those incredible ones and they are special
