Great video. Another difference: the Richard Turner Gold Standards are perfectly centered; the Penguin Elites are not. I am happy with both decks. The lack of centering is not completely obvious on casual observation, but a number of the packs of the Elites I have gotten do have misalignment of the the backs--more room on one side than the other. If you have keen eyes, you could use this as a one-way deck--not impossible. As to handling, the Gold Standards are thicker and possibly more resilient, but both decks handle excellently and faro well...

great video.. i dont usually do the box setting as when i push the cards together after a riffle.. it feels already squared up.
@KardSharp17 сағат бұрын
Yeah squaring up is tricky. As you know from dealing, the house wants as many hands as possible going off per hour. Without a deckmate, the ruffle, riffle, box, riffle can obviously add time. Having said that, when you apply a pinch square up to the deck it illuminates a mechanics ability to create a “brief” which pro cheaters use when stacking the deck or securing a slug. It all comes down to “time is money” and unfortunately, not every dealer is created equal. Many can’t box the deck perfectly without a final square up action. Happy to hear your thoughts.

What does the placement of the cut card in front of the deck have to do with ANYTHING here? I am both a magician as well as an ex poker dealer and I do not remember placement of the cut card being specified anywhere in the standard shuffling procedure.
@KardSharp13 күн бұрын
Many card rooms don’t enforce it, but they always do after consulting with me. Imagine (for instance) you are doing a push thru shuffle. On the last riffle you could easily make the cut coming out of the push through straight to the cut card (only if the card is already sitting out front.. .because you can’t clear your hands from the deck to grab the cut card as it would reveal the false shuffle protruding through. By having it sitting to the dealers left, it forces us to take hands off the deck and make a one handed cut. Just one of the many subtle things that allow games to get cheated when they go unchecked. If you watched the video you should understand what I’m talking about. Thanks for your question! Btw… if you deal in a card room that uses electronic shufflers, then having the cut card off to the side isn’t really necessary. But even then it’s a bad habit that should be avoided.

I still don't understand how you forced it
@KardSharp15 күн бұрын
Sorry about that. It was a quick explanation. But basically yiu are keeping a pinky breakbelow the card you want to force. When you spread the cards and the spectator stops on a card you outing their card. It will be above the card you have the break over. When you square up the deck and lift up to show their card, you are pushing the card in while separating the deck from the break. You show them the forced card but they just assume it’s the card they chose.

So with a little experimenting… after two faro shuffles two pairs of kings are together, one set on the top, one set on the bottom. A cut would bring them together in the middle. A third shuffle could be used to split the kings to one side and then maintain the top position during one more shuffle. But the problem is that a cut to the middle is required, so I’m missing exactly how he did it.

that's why it makes me laugh every time someone accuses Jason of "photoshoping" his videos (that says a lot more about the accuser than Jason :)). Jason spend more time with cards in his hands than the accusers did with their d!cks in their hands. There are obviously many additional prep elements available for the tricks, so I always discard the preambles of "I am opening a fresh box" as if shrink-wrap is rocket science :) or even ordering a deck from China with pre-made card order for any given trick. But I think Jason just doesn't need those preps, he is just that good (doesn't change the fact that he is an asshole :))
@KardSharpАй бұрын
lol. Jason is a working magican who is very smart. During Covid when jobs were scarce he decided to go full force into making KZbin videos. While most magicians tend to make videos of tutorials, Jason found a way to "perform" to his audience on KZbin and fool laypeople and magicians alike, I can assure you he uses any method possible to achieve his tricks. From Gaff cards, to stacks, false shuffles, false cuts, etc. No one can memorize where every card in the deck is after a "true" shuffle without some sort of marker, indicator, gaff, or sleight. Having said that, he is great at needling his audience. His "asshole" persona works for him, and his fans (mostly non-magicians) are true believers! To that I say...BRAVO!

I don't think you know what the word exposed means. Jason is talented, but he's not REAL magic. Of course there's a trick to it. Card control. Maybe "explained" but not exposed. This just makes you look bad.
