lmao, My baseline portrait sketch looks almost exactly like that first one. I decided to take up Learning how to draw... properly. I've always been a doodler. I set a 365 day goal to draw every day and follow YT tutorials and take classes on skillshare.

Can I ask you a funny question? Why on earth do you all use erasers? I don't get it. I draw semi fine art, I'd say I'm pretty decent in realism and hyper realism...and sometimes I just draw with a pen when I can't find a pencil, I never really know what "hardness or softness" pencil I use, and I don't really use anything else, I draw of any piece of paper with any pencil/pen/crayon at a hand. I Just use whatever I have at a hand and draw...I never even thought to "use an eraser" it's kind of counter intuitive to me. So why everyone does it? Does it Actually make anything easier or faster or something? What's the secret?
@LinoNetoArtsАй бұрын
It is not necessary to use an eraser. I and many other artists use it solely because we need a tool to create light details that a white gel pen would not achieve effectively, as it often looks too artificial. In my drawings, the eraser serves more than just erasing mistakes; it is used for light details, subtle texturing, and even as an initial step for gradients. Another important point is that I use it exclusively for realistic and hyper-realistic drawings. For freehand drawings, I only use it to correct errors.

Will this work, when using a photo reference, of say...an Eagle or a Squirrel
@LinoNetoArtsАй бұрын
Yes, it works; however, the texture for an eagle will change significantly compared to a squirrel. The ideal approach to make it work for any type of animal is to learn the construction routine technique.
