What is the reference standard for all welding gauges ?

Terrific question! The reference standard for all welding gauges is N.I.S.T. (National Institute of Standards and Technology).

I like the tools, but why discontinues the cat #32 offset gage? Is there a replacement for measuring angular offset on sockets and over welds?
@galgage3 ай бұрын
The gauge was discontinued due to patent issues. Unfortunately, we do not currently make a gauge that replicates what it measured. However, if you are still looking for a replacement, feel free to contact us ... below is a link to our Contact page. We may be able to make a specialty gauge for you. Thank you for your comment. www.galgage.com/contact_us.html

What is the calibration procedure? Specifically, the max convexity and max concavity scale
@lowellsmith341311 ай бұрын
The radius gauge does have a manufactures tolerance, and sometimes they are out of that tolerance regardless of how good your eyeballs are. Kudos to you convincing your auditor that you don’t need of them calibrated.
@galgage10 ай бұрын
To ensure that your measurements are correct, your gauges will need to be checked occasionally for wear and that the gauges have not been damaged. Also, the markings on any gauge, from any source are for reference purposes only and must regularly be reconfirmed / recertified. Final note, if your systems / auditors call for a periodic recalibration, it must be done for compliance purposes.
