Can I use this around a sink area and how durable is it for a kitchen countertop? Thanks
@ArtisanDesignConcepts2 күн бұрын
Yes you can absolutely use it around the sink and on the kitchen countertop. That's what our company does. We create kitchen countertops along with bathroom counters and shower panels. I've included the durability video below if you use the topcoat sold by Savage Patriot. The video is for SP elite, however they just launched a new topcoat called Fortified and it's incredible! I just had the opportunity to use it this week and I will have some videos on it soon. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2bVY3ytgrGkjsksi=B9Xmxp1eCi-z_2H9

Our motto is from mild to wild. We create softer and busier designs to meet the requests of our customers. We currently are working on some wilder color patterns for a customer who wants every bathroom different. Luckily our countertops are functional art and we can create what the homeowner or business owner wants.

Bought a house, redoing everything by myself and I LOVE the end result you got here, amazing work. Now, Ive never touched epoxy, what are the odds of me achieving a similar result on my countertops&island? 😮
@ArtisanDesignConcepts9 күн бұрын
Though I can't promise it'll look exactly like mine, if you watch my videos and practice, you can definitely create a design that you'll love. But practicing is key. Don't just go for it on your countertops. Make a few sample boards that are descent size and play with the material. Get a feel for how it moves. And also practice applying the topcoat. I will also say that if you choose to use any other product other than PolyKote Pro like I used here, I can't guarantee that it will look anything similar. This product does things that no other product that I've used can do. It really does make it easy!

Hi Stacy, an always adore your work and I’m sooo excited to get started with PolyKote for countertops! I notice you are still referring to it as “resin”. Is it technically a resin? Or is it just simpler to refer to it this way for business/advertising purposes, as it’s what most customers understand or relate to? Just curious you aren’t calling it something else. Thank you!
@ArtisanDesignConcepts18 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! Excited for you as well. PolyKote is indeed a resin. It's just not epoxy. It's a hybrid non yellowing resin. Another artisan calls it High Performance Resin in her ads and it's tracking really well. We still use certain hashtags including epoxy since people search for that term but we explain to our customers a bit about PolyKote and why we use it.

Love the concept! Beautiful countertop! ❤ How did you prep the countertop before beginning the white base? Does one have to put a finish coat on it? How does this type of finish hold up to hot dishes and knives?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts18 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! We fabricated this counter using MDF and then put two coats of Behr Paint & Primer in one. Let off gas 24 hours and then scuff lightly with 220 grit sandpaper before pouring. If you're going over an existing surface the process is a bit different. Let me know if you're looking for full build tutorials as we have a few of those on our channel. It's definitely designed to use a topcoat for the greatest finish and durability. We like Savage Patriot's SP Elite topcoat. We primarily use the matte finish. So is this product an epoxy?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts26 күн бұрын
No. PolyKote is a hybrid coating that is non-yellowing. It's still resin based but not epoxy. All epoxy will yellow to some degree over time. Some people are ok with that risk depending on its use. But we prefer to know that the colors we pour will stay that way. You can purchase at www.savagepatriotpolymers.com

How do you get the surface as smooth as quartz, granite or Formica? Is that possible?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts27 күн бұрын
It'll have a slight texture but that's what gives it the scratch resistance. Feels very much like a leather finish that's often seen with quartz.
@DolphinBuddy-q3e27 күн бұрын
So how do you keep the pattern of the nap of the roller from drying in it? I had someone do it for me that has been doing it awhile - and the surface is completely bumpy - not smooth at all. You can see the up and down lines of the roller very distinctly.
@ArtisanDesignConcepts27 күн бұрын
Well it definitely takes practice and skill. You can ask them to sand it down and reapply. But also find out what topcoat they're using. If They follow our technique with the rollers we use they should be good. But if they over roll or roll too hard, that's when you can see the lap lines. Here's our instructional video on how to apply. SP Elite Topcoat Tutorial- UPDATED! | Artisan Design Concepts kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJzTeHuvaM2Fjq8
@DolphinBuddy-q3e27 күн бұрын
@ I want the surface to be as smooth as glass the way Stonecoat is, granite, quartz. I was looking for a quartz look all the way. Sanding it smooth will work? I saw another of your videos, and it had a texture remain on the top. If I put another coat on it, can I use the Stonecoat method of a blow torch to smooth it out? Will that work? They said your polymer is guaranteed to never yellow.
@ArtisanDesignConcepts26 күн бұрын
High shine is not durable. Nobody's product with a high gloss can promise scratch resistance. The urethane topcoat, from any manufacturer, leaves a texture. You could sand it off starting with 80grit and then jump to 220 and do another clear coat of PolyKote but each of the PolyKote versions are really designed to have a topcoat for the best durability. PolyKote Enhanced gets the hardest. Be sure to torch 3-4x lightly in 10 minute intervals after you lay it out.
@staceydickinson802128 күн бұрын
Absolutely gorgeous!! Question for you though.. how do you keep these products from getting little tiny air bubbles that are noticeable?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts27 күн бұрын
Thank you! With the PolyKote original and pro, the bubbles pop themselves. With the Enhanced you still need to use a torch towards the end to pop bubbles because it's a thicker product.

In addition, it has cracked in some places, so I rather need to cover these cavities first with some putty or plaster. I also have a question about the edges. Do they always come out as nicely as you did with no streaks? I just added myself to your FB group. Thanks!!

@@roserodriguez5491you mean like plywood? Technically yes you can go over plywood but you would want to seal it first. It's better if you can to fabricate out of MDF. But with plywood if you sanded it and then did a thin coat of resin first to seal any air, then you can scuff it with 220 grit sandpaper and then do a bonding primer followed by a regular paint primer before pouring.

In addition it’s not like a stone when it dries compared to stone coat. It’s a resin even when it dries. You should test this crap before advertise!

Wow you're the first negative reply that I've had since they launched. My question to you is have you reached out to the manufacturer directly instead of just posting a negative remark? Savage Patriot is the type of company that would look into any issues that you brought forward and help figure out what the issue could have been. So my suggestion is to reach out to them via email and explain the situation so they can look up what you've ordered and can discuss everything that was done. You can email [email protected] Oh and I assure you that they put their products through a ton of testing prior to launching .
