Thank you so much. My puppy was spayed today and she has being crying even after I gave her pain medicine. It hurts me seen her like that. She sleeps in her crate so I will put her there with her recovery collar. Wish me luck in my first night.

I have a havanese puppy as well. Pistachio looks just like my Priscilla. Brown with white in the middle and white paws, so cute. They are incredibly smart! Anything I teach her she picks up within a couple of days max. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I have my darling Scarlett who is a Chiweeni.. she is 8 years old.. My sister in law delivered my new puppy on 12/29.. a beautiful Havenese I named her Ruby Maybelline and it has helped listening to your you tube videos … 1: Scarlett gets along with my ex husband’s dog , who is a Shitzu and a 3 year old boy.. I keep him at least 3 weekends a month.. My sister in law also brought her new puppy from the same litter, Hazel.. The 2 sister puppies slept in the playpen I purchased, ran around and jumped , played in my backyard, went to a BBQ at my ex’s apartment together.. My sister in law , husband , daughter and Puppy Hazel left and there was a teary good bye at separating the sister puppies. That was at 5:00 am and now every time I go to the laundry room on the other side of the house, my puppy backs and howls from her playpen in my room.. I come back and she stops.. she seems so upset and Scarlett sits in her bed just mixed up…. Scarlett just lays in her doggie bed in the room with us and she looks sad .. Do you think these two breeds will after a while, be friends? Scarlett is a darling doggy I have never seen her sad or not interact with another doggie.. I appreciate all your advice and I’ve taken every bit of it to heart and I’ve ordered some of the things you recommended , including the doggie with the heartbeat. I put my puppy., Ruby Maybelline in the beautiful baby carriage that I bought for Scarlett when she was 8 weeks old. It is like a crib, and I took her in the kitchen while I cleaned the kitchen and I talked to her and I told her I’m cleaning the kitchen and I gave her a little box to play with and now she’s sleeping..❤💥 Ana Sophia

Gotta share a story about using bells as a signal that the dog wants to go out. My daughter has a big yellow mutt and they taught her to use the bells. Turns out both the dog (Allie) and my son-in-law like to sit on the floor next to the sofa in the same place. Allie came into the room and saw my SIL in “her” place and proceeded to ring the bell. When my SIL went to open the door, Allie walked over and took her favorite spot on the floor 🤣

So wild. Our Golden Retriever learned potty training in 24hrs at age 2mo. Never had 1 accident in the house. No bell, no other ques except saying "go potty". He was put down few months ago at age 10. 😢 Miss him so very much.

We had a sweet adorable Javanese male that screamed at everyone literally haha, humped on everyone and wanted to control the household, he also ripped everything apart constantly ..he was an attention 24/7 guy and very, very high maintenance to say the least. We spent a lot of hours training him and he was not a fast learner unfortunately, but in my opinion, very worth being patient for because of his loving nature and great sense of humor ( he was so funny and playful ) He had horrible gastritis no matter what we fed him poor baby, and our vet said its indicative of the breed..he was a very picky eater as well so nothing seemed to satisfy this little man sadly. We solved his eating disorder by making him a homemade diet designed by US Davis ..in my experience Javanese take much longer to house train than other breeds and have frequent accidents indoors...our toy fox terrier and Min pin were both potty trained in less than a week and learned all commands much faster than our Javanese boy so we were not used to how long it took him to train. He was a such a sweet boy with many great traits we adored deeply but the highest maintenance little guy we ever experienced out of all the breeds we encountered through our life. Javanese are very loving and loyal ..you are so right, but I have found this to be true of most canines in general. Thanks for sharing your experience of the breed!

The anti spay neuter movement is partially responsible for the shelters and rescues having no room and having a 1 month wait for relinquishing a pet, causing more dumping…

Thank you! Your videos are superb. A Havanese is in my future and I plan to depend on your videos as we go through all the different phases of puppyhood. Please keep sharing with us. I want my dog to be happy and well adjusted. Would you mind sharing the name of the breeder from whom you got Pistachio?

So appreciatecia4e your insights, common sense, and intuition. It's been a long time since I raised a Havanese puppy. It's like forgetting how challenging child birth can be. It's good to have the reminder. The investment returns 10 fold.

Having had Havanese for 14 years, I thought your video was very lovely and resonated with my experience. As a life long dog lover - I have been through many rescue dogs, a German shepherd (a lot of work!) and some terriers. I loved all my dogs, but my experience with Havanese has been the best one. We lost our 13 yo beloved Monito a short time ago. We have an even older Havanese who obviously misses her sister. My husband and I both work from home and the dogs were integrated into every aspect of our lives. If we had to go out to dinner or do some errands, they had each other, but they would howl with ridiculous joy when we came back home. I feel that the remaining dog also needs a canine companion, so we looked at a litter last weekend and a new have puppy joins the tribe Jan. 1st. After 13 years of Havas - there is not even any consideration of another breed. They are absolutely the greatest dogs, if what you are looking for is connection with another species who will be a constant loyal, funny companion. They are up for anything. But it's hard to leave them alone They are sensitive creatures and their parents need to be able to attune to them. What you give, you get back ten fold. They won't tear up your home, but they get really sad if they don't have their humans or canine ccmpanion. I thank you for this thoughtful video. It's obvious that our experiences of the breed align.

We just found your video and I was almost in tears remembering the puppy days with ours. We had two Havanese sisters, one passed at 14 just before covid and the other passed in early October this year. I told myself I couldn't go through the loss of another Havanese so we were done. We pick up our new puppy on December 15th, I couldn't go any longer without having on of these puppies in our lives. Thank you for your story and bringing back the memories and all the "joy" we have to look forward to the next few months. :)

@6:50 lmao. Mine does this too. Before havanese, I never had a dog entertain itself like this before. We have way too many toys for our two havanese (to the point it looks like mental illness) and out of everything they have, their favorite toy that they love throwing around and rolling on is a stupid velcro ring that I used to hold my guitar cables together with. If I leave my pants on the ground, they will literally dig through my pockets looking for things like old paper towels to shred or chapstick to hide.

This is just the way our puppy lives too! The routines are basically the same except at 10 pm, right before we go to bed, she plays tug of war pretty violently with growling and snorting, to get her last bit of energy out before retiring.🤗

The only time my little Havanese barks is when someone gets close to the car when she is inside the car, and it is parked in a parking lot. I have had her for a couple of months now, and so far, I have only heard her bark five times. I am sure my neighbours don't even know I have a second dog.

I was born tongue tied in the 1950’s . The Dr snipped it right away . It is connective tissue and does not have a lot of blood supply. I still retain as small lisp but I thank goodness that it was the policy then . I think it is sensible . My DIL pumped her milk from a year because my grandson is tongue tied ,
