I now am in possession of a recalled motor (as you probably know from watching my video of it). On my recalled motor (it is an **actual** recalled motor from 2000-01 and also not saying yours isn't recalled but mine is just older and "better") the iron core is as thick as modern WeatherShield motors IIRC. I don't know if that's true though. Mine has a 4uF capacitor. Mine has the same amount of copper visually compared to yours. The Hungder motor is quite inferior. A motor from a 3733 from 2005-06 is not as powerful as a recalled motor. I know this because I had bought a 2005-06 3733 and it had thinner blades. If I put a recalled blade on it, the motor would perform slower. No, the 2005-06 motor was not involved in the recall because it was paired with a Blue Plug. On my recalled motor the wire comes out the back of the motor as opposed to the side, and the recalled motor is mounted in the back as opposed to mounting on the front of the "insulation ring".

Why were they recalled
@sccpsteve
@sccpsteve Күн бұрын
There are several possibilities: A) because it has no fused plug and that B) the motor has rubout points - in my recalled motor, I saw a few points of the insulation inside of the motor were flattened and close to wearing through, and C) dust buildup = overheating.

I believe Lasko may have started phasing in some new molds for new blades. The inner text has the Arial Rounded font on the glossier variant (which oddly has slightly more blade pitch, cool!) and a different font on the matte variant with less blade pitch than the glossier blades. I know this because I bought an Air King 9733 (which obviously has the 3733 blades), it had the glossy blade set with more pitch, and compared it on a huddled winding 3733 motor to a standard less pitched 3733 blade. They were slightly different in sound but look the same pitch-wise. It's nowhere near the weather-shield though.
@Fanscarsetc
@Fanscarsetc 5 күн бұрын
Speaking of the weather shields, i’ve noticed the older ones have a wider, more flower petal shape than the newer ones like mine which have a narrower diamond shape. Idk if the older ones move more air than the newer ones cause i haven’t tested an older weather shield yet, but i imagine they move much more air. I have noticed the glossier blade seems to be quieter and spins slower than the other blades, and spinning at the same rpm as other blades it moves a bit more air. The new blade molds will probably be a lot better than the current ones.

@@Fanscarsetc I can't say for sure since I don't own an old weather shield, but my recalled 3700 certainly moves waaay more air than a modern weather-shield. Does the old weather shield in question have that "highly pronounced ring" in the center of the blade hub?

Regarding the GPU, the PCIe Slot provides 75W and the 6pin cable from the PSU provides another 75W, the cpu on these optiplexes is usually a 65W, you can do your math, but the gist of it is that you can basically put any gpu with a 6pin power connector and it will be fine, not the most efficient, because PSU's efficiency peak is at at around 50 to 60% load if i remember correctly, but still in the safe zone, if you wanna upgrade you could look for a RX 6500 XT, i think the Gigabyte has a 6pin, and all it's ITX variants should be running a 6pin.

Typically, these tuna cylinder motors come with plenty of lubrication from the factory, with minimal exceptions. Same goes with the tuna square motors. Therefore adding zoom spout will cause problems as you probably added more than 6 drops on the front/rear bearings. AFAIK there will not be a problem with the windings coming into contact with zoom spout.
@Fanscarsetc
@Fanscarsetc 9 күн бұрын
Jordan is the one who advocates for motor lubrication but the newer motors don’t come with much oil if any at all. The older ‘huddled winding’ psc motors, like this one in the video seem to come with good lubrication but some of the new ones i’ve found to be bone dry. I made sure to not put too much oil in the bearings to prevent this but idk i guess it still was too much

This was filmed a while ago i had just ported it on my channel so i don’t remember how it exactly performed but it was similar performance to today’s tuna-can motors.
