This game is a blast with an xbox controller. Absolute blast.

AWD is quite a can of worms. It's crazy how slim is the line between having and losing control of these vehicles. Yesterday I had and event on tarmac in Spain in Dirt Rally 2 and I just jumped from FWD to AWD and just holy crap it was extremely tough to finish tracks at all, especially with decent times. Some times the breaking completely locks and I just understeer down the cliff other times I break tight corners with no problem. The tire wear is insane and sometimes a single bump to the side may puncture them and if you lose one of the tires, might as well throw in the towel at that point, because then control is non existent.

i was playing manual in first person view on controller with all driving assists off for awhile cuz i wanted the simulation experience but man is it brutal and too unforgiving especially with RWD where the slightest error could make you lose the whole race which sucks when youre nearly finished. Yeah the challenge is fun but it can be pretty frustrating at times so i turned some of the assists up slightly and changed to automatic and its been much more enjoyable

Is it possible you actually lose time by hitting the brakes to slow down and make sure to enter that hairpin fully from the right side if that hairpin leads into another immediate hairpin? The opposing driver that keeps the pedal down and enters the the hairpin left from the left side will have carried a lot more speed through that hundred yards and gained time. The driver, who entered from the correct side will gain in the next straightaway but if the straightaway is very short or leads directly into another hairpin, right what is the right line?

How has nobody mentioned you driving on 3WD here. OMG

I love how dynamic this game is, the Dark Souls of racing indeed. My favorite is to use the camber of certain corners to really push the and also aid in weight transfer. Like, you can see a snaking road ahead of you and if you time the speed and angles right, you can almost go through it wide open barely steering at all, just using the angle of the road to move the car side to side.

Im like 40 hours in and can just start completing track without crashing. This game is a riot on the wheel, but I can only imagine how many players give up with this game. Id take a pay cut just for limited rewinds...but i am improving!

New to the game and have found that fwd is easiest for me, it seems to never spin out and i can control my turning a lot easier. Ive tried using all wheel but i always end up spinning out or smashing into the narrow side walls. I also know nothing about tuning except very basic stuff. Should i be running tc all the way off? It seems like i can never control the car with awd, maybe its the tc or maybe i just need to practice.

In the end of the day its more important to have fun. If you struggle you might as well put some assist on like traction or stability.. Technically yes it is faster withtout them but thats like assuming you're a very good /top driver no matter what. Having no assists doesn't automatically make you faster if you're still unable to handle the car. This is the classic sim racer pep talk to show off how better they are than everyone else.

So how do I slide?

Thanks for tutorial. If someone wants to comfy and realistic driving simrace on controller then check Asseto Corsa with A7 assist mod. I have not find yet other simrace, which would correct the way how a game interprets controller's stick input.

3:42 this was the only advice I needed... I was only trying classic cars like the integrale and was totally frustrated, because I absolutely couldn't drive it >.< now I got me an Impreza (2000cc) and it drives sooo well :) now I can do those hairpins like in action movies 😛 but I still can't drive the cars in any WRC game >.< either it's me or Dirt Rally 2 is much better

???do the stock cars in Free Roam have upgrades and are all the cars available in free roam?? I hope not haha I hope there’s more I’m just now getting good enough to finish tracks in decent times but only with the lancer 4WD and group B but only bc of your videos did I get that far I still need to learn how to tune so that I can actually drive a RWD faster than 50 Mph. I’m ok with FWD but only with the lowest HP. So I’m really hoping there’s upgrades to the suspension and other attributes that help with stability haha. I wanna go fast like I see others on KZbin mostly with the wheels but I’m borrowing a PlayStation controller to figure out if I wanna buy that or the Xbox controller and I’m leaning towards the Xbox or something similar and honestly I’m about the same using the keyboard but that’s bc I’ve been playing racing games all my life with nothing but the arrow keys. Hey your vids are the best there are out there for this game. You explain everything very well. Don’t have to rewind all the time to understand what you mean.

What an earth determines how many AI characters will be racing against you in rallycross. You never know until you pull up to the starting line because some move forward while some do not!

One thing I’ve never been able to find in a video and been really trying hard to find , which is the order of classes to take if wanting a realistic career path. I like to progress through from low hp and tech but I’ve been struggling with any of the 4wd cars in knowing which is where I’m meant to start.
