The second in my series detailing simple yet effective techniques to getting faster. Recommended for those new to sim racing concepts and rally pace notes.
PACE NOTES GUIDE: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Detailed explanation of Rally racing lines: • Racing Lines: Early VS...
1. Look ahead 0:18
Keep your eyes on the road!
2. Listen to your co-driver 1:35
Please refer to the pace notes guide link posted above. The best way to learn is to simply just play and pay attention to the icons and/or co-driver calls. Feel free to turn off icons in menu options for more realism and faster learning.
3. Late Apex Turns 3:07
I failed to mention that sometimes your co-driver will call out "late" or "early" - this is in reference to what kind of apex turn you should take. Do so! Often they will make you faster. I recommend taking late apex turns as a way to encourage slow in-fast out driving and the easiest way to prevent yourself from crashing. There's nothing wrong with taking a traditional apex, ESPECIALLY in the slow car classes as they lack power and it is much easier to take that racing line compared to the faster vehicles.

Great video Manic. I would suggest people turn off visual pace notes from day one. That forces you to learn to listen to the co driver. This game takes a solid time investment, but is one of the funnest sims ever if you put in the time.

It allows you to focus on the road and build a better roadmap of the turns ahead.

For me they help me distinguish left/right lol, sometimes my dyslexia doesn't help, but I'm not constantly seeing them, just eyeballing them on my peripheral vision, and mostly just paying attention if they are red or orange

Look ahead but also look at the road in front of you. If you can read the road you’ll be able to increase your stability and learn what your car can and can’t do. Turn pace notes OSD off so you force yourself to listen to your co-driver. If you don’t listen to your co-driver then you’re going to break the car Samir. Racing line will become even more natural to you when you put the others together. You’ll start doing it without even realize it. You’ll slip into “the zone”. But that’s an advanced lesson you’ll learn once you get comfortable driving. As for racing line/apex cornering, just remember slow in and fast out. Eventually you’ll know how fast you need to be going for the degree of turn. Slow in fast out is the best method. Just remember not too slow, it is rally after all. Biggest piece of advice, don’t be afraid! Loose the fear and you’ll do a lot better.

I just picked this up on steam sale. Thanks for the tips! I'm playing in VR with a Logi wheel and it's stupidly fun even though I suck.

I’ll also do an early apex approach to get a jumpstart on the turn when I know I don’t have the handling to make certain turns at high speeds

Im like 40 hours in and can just start completing track without crashing. This game is a riot on the wheel, but I can only imagine how many players give up with this game. Id take a pay cut just for limited rewinds...but i am improving!

Where do you recommend leaving the co drivers settings for him telling you the track info early or late options
@manic_driver8751
@manic_driver8751 3 жыл бұрын
Ideally as early as possible. One reason is because some of the in game calls arrive very late, so you need to compensate so as not to risk crashing. The other more important reason is because professional rally drivers get their calls early as well - the more information you have, the better prepared you will be for the road ahead and you can start chaining turns together.

@@manic_driver8751 true 💯 thanks! All I need to start learning is tuning the cars etc if need too cause I don’t mess with any of that type of stuff but my settings for the game are good to go

@@mannyp36 if you do it too early you might get confused and mix up your current corners with the ones he announced for next year so the intermediate setting has worked the best for me

Hi , feel a bit silly asking , but after playing this game for around 2 weeks I still cannot find the option to turn off pace note icons , I have all else switched off on screen . Ivan only see “Entire HUD off” or options except “icons off “ anyone help ? Excellent guides by the way 👍

It should be under OSD settings, something like co-driver calls, I believe. No shame in leaving them on! Useful for when you are starting out
