Babies get to a point that they don’t like a tight swaddle. I’ll put I link for you to look at. When you lay baby down, it can help to put 1 hand firmly under baby’s bum and the other on her tummy/chest area. This helps with that startle reflex as baby is settling in a falling asleep. @@evaorbuch90 Yes, it’s usually best to pump both sides if you are doing a pump in place of a feeding from the breast. BUT… if you’re pumping to relieve some engorgement on one side, it’s good to pump just that side but don’t over pump. Pump just enough to be comfortable. You can add fresh breastmilk with frozen ONLY if you will be feeding that to baby immediately. Then that mixed amount needs to be discarded with in an hour. If you’re not sure that baby will drink it all, I wouldn’t mix it. I would just feed one then the other. ❤️

My baby is 10 weeks old, we got the flu and had company for 2.5weeks straight. We were exclusively breastfeeding until then and because it was taking 5-10min after showing hunger cues for me to leave the room or grab a cover, we decided to used a bottle on 3 occasions. That was all it took for her to start SCREAMING at the breast. We are on day 6 of no breastfeeding (except maybe in the early morning) only bottles. I’m so disappointed. With my first we never could figure it out so I pumped exclusively for 15 months. Desperately hoping these tips help us❤️ it’s been so stressful pumping with her while having a 2year old.

@@lacygill9969 I’m actually making a video about that today 🥰 but… it won’t probably post for a week or so. How old is baby? Do you exclusively feed from the breast at home? How many ounces are you pumping per hour while you are away from baby? And how long are usually away from baby? I’m not a fan of a wearable pump unless a mom has a forceful letdown/over supply. If you pump it all you need to add lots of breast massage for stimulation to make enough breastmilk. If you’re using a wearable pump, you just have to be sure that you’re taking the time to do lots and lots of breast massage and some breast compressions while you’re pumping. You should be pumping about one to 1 1/2 ounces an hour while you’re away from baby. So you should be seeing about 8 to 12 ounces pumped if you are away from baby for eight hours. Often moms will tell me that their baby takes in much more than that. If baby were feeding directly from the breast, they wouldn’t be taking in as much because the bottle just pours out into baby’s mouth. But the time baby realizes that they’re full they have actually over eaten . It won’t hurt baby to over eat but it’s a wasted amount. Sometimes it’s nearly impossible for Mom to pump out that extra amount to be wasted. ❤️

@@Kimacho ❤️ Many moms feel like they’re not making enough because they are providing “just enough”. We have to remind ourselves that “just enough” is PERFECT! 🥰 Our bodies are amazing! I know that it’s our reaction to want more than perfection.🤷‍♀️ Mothers milk tea is popular and you can definitely try it but for me, I see it as a placebo affect for most moms. This can hurt a mom’s supply if she’s just waiting to see an increase in supply. Those 3 keys are what works. Here’s a link to read more on Moringa. There are different study findings. And there are possible health risks. www.drugs.com/breastfeeding/moringa.html As far as I know, Omeprazole isn’t know to decrease supply. Always be sure to tell your doctor that you are breastfeeding. Here’s what Dr Hale’s research on it says. Omeprazole is a potent inhibitor of gastric acid secretion. In a study of one patient receiving 20 mg omeprazole daily, the maternal serum concentration was negligible until 90 minutes after ingestion and then reached 950 nM at 240 min.[1] The breast milk concentration of omeprazole began to rise minimally at 90 minutes after ingestion and peaked after 180 minutes at only 58 nM, or less than 7% of the highest serum level. This would indicate a maximum dose of 3 µg/kg/day in a breastfed infant. Omeprazole milk levels were essentially flat over 4 hours of observation. Omeprazole is extremely acid labile with a half-life of 10 minutes at pH values below 4.[2] Virtually all omeprazole ingested via milk would probably be destroyed in the stomach of the infant prior to absorption. Adult Concerns Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, flatulence, changes in liver and renal function, anemia. Adult Dose 20 mg twice daily. Pediatric Concerns No complications reported from milk currently, but does not exclude potential risk. Infant Monitoring Unlikely to be absorbed while dissolved in milk due to instability in acid.

@@Kimacho are you pumping to store milk or to be away from baby at times? When occasionally pumping, it can be normal to see only drops as time goes on. After 4 to 6 weeks postpartum, our milk regulates to just what baby needs / just what baby takes out. If you need to be away from baby, it’s best to pump while you’re away and at around the same times that baby eats. If you would like to pump for some stored milk, you need to consistently pump with lots of breast massage and at the same time, every day.

Some babies get a little fussy and have a hard time sleeping because some of the caffeine does come through our breast milk. I would limit it to just occasionally or 1 or 2 cups a day maximum. There is some evidence that iron levels are slightly reduced in breastmilk of moms who have caffeine. If you’re feeling tired and need a coffee for energy, drinking a little more water is very helpful. I personally love my coffee too. lol Some moms even say that caffeine increases supply but that’s not been shown in research to be true🤷‍♀️ I’ll add some screen shots for you here. @ Ok. Here I just copied the text 😎 Caffeine is a naturally occurring CNS stimulant present in many foods and drinks. While the half-life in adults is 4.9 hours, the half-life in neonates is as high as 97.5 hours. The half-life decreases with age to 14 hours at 3-5 months and 2.6 hours at 6 months and older. The average cup of coffee contains 100-150 mg of caffeine depending on preparation and country of origin. Peak levels of caffeine are found in breastmilk 60-120 minutes after ingestion. In a study of five patients following an ingestion of 150 mg caffeine, peak concentrations of caffeine in serum ranged from 2.39 to 4.05 µg/mL and peak concentrations in milk ranged from 1.4 to 2.41 mg/L with a milk/serum ratio of 0.52.[1] The average milk concentration at 30, 60, and 120 minutes post dose was 1.58, 1.49, and 0.926 mg/L, respectively. In another study of seven breastfeeding mothers who consumed 750 mg caffeine/day for 5 days, and were 11-22 days postpartum, the average milk concentration was 4.3 mg/L.[2] Values ranged significantly from undetectable to 15.7 mg/L. The mean concentration of caffeine in sera of the infants on day 5 was 1.4 µg/mL (range undetectable to 2.8 µg/mL). In two patients whose milk levels were 13.4 and 28 mg/L, the respective infant serum levels were 0.25 and 3.2 µg/mL. In a study of six breastfeeding mothers who received one dose of 100 mg orally, peak levels (Cmax) in maternal serum ranged from 0.5 to 1 hour and 0.75 to 2 hours in milk.[3] The maternal plasma Cmax ranged from 3.6 to 6.15 µg/mL, while the Cmax for their milk ranged from 1.98 to 4.3 mg/L. The average concentration of caffeine in milk was 2.45 mg/L at 1 hour. The average milk/plasma ratio (AUC) was 0.812 for both breasts. This elegant study shows that caffeine rapidly enters milk and that the decay of caffeine in milk is similar to that of plasma. In infants from 4 to 7 kg body weight, the estimated dose to the infant would be 1.77 to 3.10 mg/d following a 100 mg maternal dose. In a group of mothers who ingested from 35 to 336 mg of caffeine daily, the level of caffeine in milk ranged from 2.09 to 7.17 mg/L.[4] The author estimates the dose to infant is at 0.01 to 1.64 mg/d or 0.06% to 1.5% of the maternal dose. An interesting review of the nutritional effects of caffeine ingestion on infants is provided by Nehlig.[5] There is some evidence that chronic coffee drinking may reduce the iron content of milk. Irritability and insomnia may occur and have been reported.[6] Occasional use of caffeine is not contraindicated, but persistent, chronic use may lead to high plasma levels in the infant particularly during the neonatal period.

@@Shay2020. Pumping moms get extra gold stats from me because pumping is a lot of extra work. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ You did an amazing job mommy! ❤️ Your situation would be a great video for me to do. 24 ounces every 24 hours is on average, what an exclusively breastfed baby who is eating from the breast takes in. ❤️ Your next thought is probably: “My baby was still hungry”. Here’s a couple of things to understand: Paced Feeding is usually needed for babies who are receiving breastmilk from a bottle. This is a method of slowing down a feeding to mimic breastfeeding. I’ll link a video here for you. When baby eats at the breast, they usually take several minutes longer to eat. Moms who feed directly from the breast, don’t know that baby is taking in just 24 ounces a day. When baby eats quickly from a bottle, they take in more than they need or want. You can’t over feed your baby. Giving extra to baby (when not Pace Fed) will just be wasted. Baby’s body will pee, poop or spit it out. Though a pumping mom’s body, often can’t keep up with that extra amount taken in. The evening feedings often get stressful for moms who pump AND for moms who chest feed. Baby will cluster feed and be very fussy. They may seem hungry but aren’t. They are either, overly tired, over stimulated or just hurting all over. It’s painful to grow so quickly. This is a time of day that Paced Feeding is really important. We do want to be sure that baby is getting enough. The way that we know that baby is taking in enough is by counting wet diapers. As long as baby is having 6 or more wet diapers every 24 hours and is growing well, you know that baby is getting enough. Exclusively breastfed babies will take in that 24 ounces every 24 hours, from the time they are one month to six months old. From 6 to 12 months some baby stay around that amount and some will take in a few more ounces a day. I know that that sounds crazy That a growing baby wouldn’t be taking in more but breast milk is just utilize differently and more completely in baby’s body as they age. Formula fed babies need more and more as they age because their body doesn’t absorb as much of those nutrients so they need more. Formula fed babies usually poop more often and have much larger poops. It’s good, when possible, for mom to increase milk supply to 2 or 3 ounces extra a day to store incase there is an emergency need for extra milk. The very best way to increase supply when pumping is to add lots and lots of breast massage. I’ll link a video on that here too. I hope all of that makes sense. We don’t know, what we don’t know. The internet and doctors (and sometimes even lactation counselors) don’t understand this. We see babies who are formula fed and compare breastmilk feeding to that but it’s so different. ❤️ Paced Feeding kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHqniJitltifhbM Pumping Moms With Low Milk Supply kzbin.info/www/bejne/laDJZYKKo7SomMU

@@JusticePhoenix I have a couple of videos for you to watch. They can help to increase supply but if you didn’t have milk in the first weeks, you probably won’t be able to fully breastfeed. I’m not completely sure that you won’t be able to fully breastfeed. If possible, it would be good for you to meet with a local lactation counselor. Quite often babies will be fussy in the evening because they are overly tired, over stimulated or hurting from growing so quickly. This can look like low supply but not actually be. If baby seems satisfied in the morning and afternoon but not in the evening, it’s usually a sign that supply is good. It’s important that you always see 6 or more wet diapers every 24 hours. If you are pumping after a feeding and getting just 10 to 15mls, this is very normal. If you are pumping that amount in place of a feeding, that is low. Check out these videos to help with supply and let me know if you have questions. @@brch97 I would try to latch him at every feeding. Being a premie and a male can be part of the issue. Males will often have a recessed chin for days or weeks after birth. Keep working on baby’s position. Baby’s body/tummy tight to yours. Baby should not have a hand/arm between him and you. Start baby with his nose to your nipple. His head should be tilted back to get a wide mouth open. His chin should be pressed into your breast but nose not touching. An upright position (koala hold) can sometimes help to get this position. @marycahillclc
@marycahillclc 13 күн бұрын
Great question! I don’t think that I said that well. You can make a judgement call. Here’s the thing to always say to yourself; “if something goes into baby, something should come out of me”. So it would be good to pump if baby gets a large amount of formula or previously pumped (stored) milk. If baby is getting just a small amount of formula in total in that feeding, (under 1 ounce) it’s probably not a huge need but definitely if they are taking more than 1 ounce I would pump. You don’t need to stop and pump in the middle of the on and off again but a pumping after would be good. If baby is getting under an ounce and/or they then stay latched for a long time after the feeding, you could skip that pumping because you’ll be getting lots of breast stimulation and baby still gets a tiny bit more when staying on the breast longer. ❤️

@@ahlamnaarany953 oh, now I have a few questions if that’s ok 🥰 3 ounces of formula per day or per feeding? Can you tell me more about your situation? Pumping to “empty your breast” is a term that gets used a lot but your breasts are never really full or empty. Breastmilk is made while we pump or nurse. When your breast feel “full”, that’s not because there’s extra milk in your breast. It’s inflammation of the breast tissue around the milk ducts.❤️

@@ansilajoseph9875 if parents are thin and smaller build, baby may be a little smaller too. Just to confirm, baby is two months old and her weight is 3.3 kg, correct? If that is right, her weight is a little concerning. Have you seen baby’s doctor recently? What did the doctor think about baby’s weight? my first thought on a situation like yours, where baby seems to be getting plenty to eat and having lots of wet and poopy diapers, is that Mom may have a forceful let down/over supply. Do you know if you have that condition? Sometimes when mom has this condition, baby may be slightly higher in weight but more often they are low in weight gain. Does baby choke or make a clicking noise while eating at the breast? Does babies seem overly gassy? Is baby poop ever green, foamy or goopy looking?
