Watching this in august 2024. Such a great video wow! 🎉 I lived in Bavaria for a few months and spent my days cycling around all of the bike paths. Such incredibly good memories. I would love to do something like this. But maybe in the spring or fall when it isn’t so hot 😵‍💫 thanks so much ❤

The cycle Paths are shit where I live in Berlin but they defo get better the more North you go. If you’re ever here again there’s a bike shop called VELOBANDE BIKES and you can rent decent gravel bikes or adventure bikes like the Kona sutra for €15-20 per day

As a lifelong cyclist from England, I had no idea that the German cycling infrastructure was so good until I (temporarily) moved to Berlin.

@@MatHall Yes indeed Mat, it's never mentioned in the same way as the Netherlands, or even Denmark. When I got back to England it hit home just how crap it can be for cyclists! Cheers 🚲👍

Very nice! I have the first 2 weeks of June next year to ride the EV15. I’ve been reading reviews of the EV15 being boring on several places. If you have this time, what EV would you recommend? Thank you!
@MatHall

I think ev6 is more interesting in general bit ev15 is still so beautiful especially in Germany. A few days yes, of industrial area, but on the whole ev15 is perfect for 2 week trip as it is also easy to get to start or finish by train. Ev6, 2 weeks, perhaps look at Passau thru Austria, Slovakia all way to Budapest. Very scenic every day!

Hi Mat & Harriet, just discovered your videos after all these years! Really enjoyed watching your journey, not just the actual journey, but ‘your’ journey too! Very inspiring, would like to ask a couple of questions if we may, 1. This is bike touring, and you appeared to be relative novices, have you kept it up and have you migrated to Bikepacking? 2. How did you get yourselves and the bikes back from Istanbul. 3. Since then we have left the EU, let’s not get into the politics but how d’you think this has changed your route?. 4. What would you do differently now, family aside. We are bikepackers but haven’t yet been on such a huge adventure, you have inspired us to look further afield. Thank you, Rob & Nicki.

Just discovered and watched your 3 videos of London to Istanbul and have to say it was amazing to watch. I’m a lorry driver and love to see our country by road but have longed to do European. Watching this has made me want to do this in the near future how you described that mark Beauchamp cycle around the world inspired you to do something similar you and your misses has done the same to me and I thank you. Hope family life is all good and I’m looking forward to watching more on your channel

Just found this. I'm hoping to do Istanbul to UK next year for my 60th birthday. Thank you so much for lots of great ideas. Your route planning sounds great building from ever friendly and easy rides in the Netherlands ending with the lesser known Greece & Turkey. However I just really like the idea of doing the annoying flight and transport at the start, cycling home, putting the bikes in the garage and turning on the kettle.

Your sojourn looked to be for the most part a nice blend of work (peddling) and relaxing in a restaurant for a local meal, coffee, tea, beer and wine with some camp cooking besides. I was surprised that you all were doing 70 - 80K a day - not too shabby as we say in the States. Enjoyed the videos and the music was relaxing. Om!

Hi, I came across your video a couple of days ago and enjoyed watching your adventure. The thing I would like to mention is that after having done large cycle tours with my wife in multiple continents I think that you have to recognise the signs of travel fatigue and rest up for longer intervals. You became grumpier than need be with small breakages on your bike. Better preparedness and knowing how to improvise should overcome even the biggest challenge in this way. I am sure that your lives have changed forever as it has done ours. Cheers, Peter.

8 min just adjust your pace. Slow down. You can take 1 paracetamol or 1-2 magnesium zinc orthomelucular pills before going to sleep.
