For psychological reasons, consider painting the interior using neutral or calming colors to alleviate the "prison cell" setting. This is especially effective in calming children and teens. Plan and practice occupying with little warning or notice, so everything has to be in place. Clothing, lite blankets, shoes, and medications should be vacuumed-sealed. 72 hrs is a recommendation for the immediate threat. But you should also consider the aftermath - what if your home acquires significant damage? Two weeks supply of food and water will help if you have to live out of the shelter, or when relocating to a safer area. Other comments above and below provide great suggestions too.

If it’s possible I would put a love seat down there for comfort and get rid of the table but that’s just me. Maybe some blankets, pillows, sleeping bags down there on that shelving. Cooktop burner maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️

My work heros were rig welders and third party inspectors. So I became a welder and and inspector. But not a rig welder. A union welder. When asked differentiate between a self employed welder and a union welder. All I ever brought to work was my workboots. Emoloyer provides everything else. Respect to the self employed. I was acting as the job steward for six months and a permit rig welder showed up. He said he was tired being his own boss and wanted to try it. He was a permit and not known so was not given any responsibility. What I thought of his skill level was not recognized by supervision. Forman asked me to make some kind of custom asbuilt jig so I asked him to give the rig welder a chance. So he did and that guy whipped that job up real quick and nice. He was then in, trusted, and given interesting jobs. I got to look at lots of self employed work as an inspector. It was welders, fitters, and ABSA and third party inspectors that taught me 99% of whatever it is I know.

I drove a Chevy truck for 28 years straight, my daily driver, 1.5 million miles, The only time it saw a tow truck was in Virginia Beach when I was in the military; there was a Tow to Go program for service members needing a ride from a bar or club if they ended up drinking too much. That truck was an absolute dependable, reliable, vehicle. Maybe thats why I still drive a Chevy.

move all the jars to the lower shelf, fill some with water, others could hold matches or dried foods. Lots of good storage there. Get boxes that fit the jars so that they don't rattle around.

I live about an hour east of Williston in Stanley. I've lived all my life in ND except when I was in the service. -40 used to keep the riffraff out, haha. WOW Kayla went 300 miles out of the way going to Sioux Falls. US 85 is a main highway in ND but ya going through the park in the winter sucks. Watford still is a madhouse. Before the boom it was 800-1000 people before the boom.

Ya'll are not exaggerating one bit about driving in West Texas. It is the wild west and has become a transient town. (Midland/Odessa as a whole) People either have the gas pedal to the floor or the brake pedal to the floor, there is no in-between. They pull out in front of you or will pass you in the turning lane to get in front of you, only to turn in front of you with no blinker. If you don't believe me, just drive from downtown Midland heading south on Rankin Hwy and you'll know what I mean. No Mas pinche Midland. chupale!
