Went dirtbiking at Lake Pillsbury. Camped in truck bed on lounge chair and sleeping bag. Weber grill for meals. Ice chest. 1980s. We survived.

Hi Just a quick question...Out of curiosity....You have so much in your boot, a wooden ply as a bed and so many other things. Now what if you have a puncture by the side of a motor way? Are you going to take out every thing to access the Stepney? or you have other arrangements??

Wow!!!! ❤ I am amazed how 🤔 camping in your driveway sounds so cool 😎!!❤ I never thought of that? I feel "stoopid" now....I have a mini van set up so I can take my little dog to the park for the afternoon. We do lunch, we read a book. She loves to read 📚 and I don't have to worry about NO DOGS ALLOWED at restaurants anymore. If I can't take my dog, I don't go.

Wasp spray - sprays hard for 20 metres... good for any one doing the wrong thing... gets rid of wasps and predator males... fast...

50 years ago (yes i am "vintage") Weber Lake was a private resort. The dirt road east of the lake is rough, some 4x4 parts, to some fine fishing. Loops around back to Jackson Meadows. Dual sport motorcycle that area 50 years ago! Labor day storm event unusual, but has happened a few times in the past. River below Jackson dam, good fishing. Are you heading to Bowman Reservoir? French lake? Meadow lake? Fordyce lake (doubtful) Sterling lake (doubtful). Good tires, your vehicle is very capable. Yes, lift kit will be nice, add ability. Still must "read the road" for big rocks. Next spring/summer, adventure the other side of 89. The Kyberz flat area interesting old town mapped out. THOUSANDS of sand hill cranes stop in the nearby HUGE meadows. Their honk sound like a Model T starting. Camping there, okay, no lake. Advice: forget holiday/weekends. Head there on a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday Much less population. Leave home before sunrise, arrive in area 8-10 AM when folks are breaking camp to next destination. You will have best opportunity for good site.

LOL, vintage, I love it!! Thanks for all the great tips. I'll have to keep you in suspense about the destination, but you are warm... Carmen has decent/newish mud/snow tires, so I probably just worry too much, but beefy trail tires would be better. And you're absolutely right about reading the road, lots to look out for ahead that the camera never seems to pick up well. I'll look up the Kybertz flat area to see where it is, sounds fun!

The last time I fixed it another rock hit and broke it immediately ($300 down the drain) so this time I'm waiting for the crack to get almost all the way to the edge before replacing... :)

@dianeschmiane yes indeed, I seen one on a jeep build and it was literally like an apartment that pops right out of your vehicle. That would definitely be pretty cool. I'm not sure how simple it is to setup or how durable it is but they are very cool.

@dianeschmiane i refuse to drive in snow i have had a 4x4 and a awd vehicle and never took them out in snow or 4x4ing my blazer was never put in 4x4 drive my magnum just came with awd. Now front end drive ford flex 2019. With all weather tires

That chipmunk totally had the upper hand, LOL. You can't leave food around these guys or the squirrel people. These critters are used to being fed at campgrounds, they don't act the same in the wild.

Yes, those guys totally knew the drill. They may have gotten a dropped crumb or two, but I was careful to seal everything and not feed them anything... :)

Congratulations on your new job. I hope it works out. The thing 1, 2 and 3 are chipmunks, and to the best of what I could tell was a bald eagle. Crows are very territorial. I have a huge hawk here on the property and my murder of crows scare it away, and anything that might noticebly irritate me they scare it away. They have even scared off humans at the end of my drive.

LOL, good to have a bunch of "watch crows" like that, and yes, I could see how territorial they were. Made me wonder if they had a nest nearby but it was probably too late in the season for baby birds.
