"overly complicated and bizzare chicken coop door controllers," You think that this is NOT that? You are diffidently are part of that group. Boy you are mixing a bunch of stuff to make on of them Rube Goldberg devices. LOL

Rube would have loved it. And it is not complex to anyone involved in industrial mechanics. Just a timer, an air piston and a 3 way solenoid valve. All dirt cheap and off the shelf or waste bin. Indeed, most people can't tie their shoes, so I suppose that makes this bizarre.

@@RRaucina What make it bazaar is that you over-complicated something that others have already done and done well. Most have a battery, wire and timers. While you added Air, AC power , a timer that is power goes of you time is off, AN AIR COMPRESSOR or I think I heard something about a tire (a tire, really?!), Wire AND hoses AND tubing AND fittings. I mean just look at it. Just look at the visual. 3 simple components vs 9 ADDITION Components = overly complicated 0:15 Just listen to yourself. "You don't need and limit switches" but then "all you need is a timer", and what you should have said was "but you have to ADD", and a three way solenoid vales (way more expensive than limit switches already), an an air pneumatic piston," You completely glossed over that you added more stuff so while you say it like the limits switches are some big draw back you ignore that your add-ons are way more. There is also something I noticed. you are very snarky when you say "And it is not complex to anyone involved in industrial mechanics.". You say that but you expect people to have to take on that task. Do you not see the contradiction. COME on man. Come back to reality. You didn't distill anything you watered it down. Yeah do your thing and be creative but don't BS about it. OH. Did you add a filter valve to the outlet of the cylinder when it goes down? That way it doesn't come down as fast. Oh and there is a guy who made a pressure switch for the bottom of the door. That could very easily be done to yours. Last don't be an azz. I served for 30 years as an Army helicopter mechanic. I know an awful lot about hydraulic and pneumatic systems. There is a saying about assumption. It has been three years. Why no video of it installed? I mean you are so proud of it, why not? You know a follow up video would go a long way to back your stance.

Anyone with a log splitter should be aware that on every cycle of the ram, The amount of oil used to move the rod is displaced with the same amount of air. This air comes in through the breather hole in the dipstick cap on the YardMax. You may notice that I have a can over this dipstick - the can covers filter media that keeps dust out of the system. If you filter the fluid AND filter the makeup air, you will double or triple the life of the components. Few realize that the cylinder stroke causes a large air intake to the reservoir. That air must be CLEAN. Also, I drop several high temperature rated alnico or ceramic magnets into the tank to collect sub micron metallic particles. Such [well, rarely] self evident maintenance actions are not going to serve the manufacturers profitably - they count on failures and lack of maintenance to sell new units.

"After watching hundreds of videos of overly complicated and bizzare chicken coop door controllers, I distilled all the thoughts and built this clean and simplified version." Then says. "This is set up for 120 volt power and an air supply. However, this will also operate on water pressure and 12 volts with a change in components." Dude Air supply, PNEUMATIC piston, special valve, timer, 120 power, hoses, fittings, and , I'm sure a few other things is the opposite of a "simplified version". You are actually in the "overly complicated and bizzare" category. "the weight of the door closes itself and no chance for harm to a chicken". I watched the video and that is also opposite of "no chance for harm". I'm gonna take this whole video as a joke.

The door weighs less than a chicken, sorry. And if a chicken is under the door when it closes at night, it was sick. No loose wires, chinese crap components and NO DIGITAL timers that even a 15 year old nerd cant program. industrial components US made and low cost. Here is a comparison - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX3LfpidnNGCi7s and just one of hundreds of rube goldberg junk. And another real joke: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGKQd5ykjNt2nc0 By the way this works for about 6 months with an air supply from an old truck tire, and the components are available in DC for solar.

@@RRaucina First comment on this video you say : "the weight of the door closes itself and no chance for harm to a chicken" Now you say: "The door weighs less than a chicken, sorry. And if a chicken is under the door when it closes at night" Why did you even bring it up if that's the case? In any case the weight of that 2x4 is enough to cause damage to a chicken. Worse if it hit a chicken on the head or neck. "the weight of the door closes itself" Yeah that's not true. The compressed air is what pushes the door down. The weight of the door just adds to the force. Tell you what. Why don't you put a chicken bone under there. Record it. "No loose wires" 1:27 Looks like loose wires to me. Add loose hoses to that also. Loose wires are a product of who installed it. Has nothing to do with what products you used. "NO DIGITAL timers that even a 15 year old nerd cant program." If you are having problems programing simple timers, then it's you who might be the problem. I have over 15 different styles of timers and none of them took me more than a minute to figure out. "industrial components US made and low cost." 20 for cylinder, 25 for timer, 20 for valve, 20 in fittings, 80 air compressor or bulky big truck tire (120 if they don't just happen to have one add however much for rim), Yeah "low cost" not even close. I can have a Linear Actuator $30, Battery $20, 2 timers $12, wire $5 and a solar panel $10 that will get the job done. I can get it done with $77 compared to your $165. " Here is a comparison - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX3LfpidnNGCi7s" Yeah and if you take the time and find my comment on that guys setup, I fairly harshly criticized his too. "And another real joke: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGKQd5ykjNt2nc0" Only joke about that is he paid way to much. Windy city is way overpriced and has crappy products. They used to be good, but they went down hill. "By the way this works for about 6 months with an air supply from an old truck tire" yeah again, if you already have the tire. Plus it takes up way more room. Like I said, bad to worse. "and the components are available in DC for solar." Adding more cost. LOL. Here you go. $18 timer and three actuators all under $30 - $36 each, $20 battery and $5 for wire and Bus Bars. That's $73 compared to your $165. And on only one charge of the battery, with all three actuators, it ran for 3 months. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYDcnKBurN6Eqrc Don't cry about loose wires either, this is a test install. Again You are actually in the "overly complicated and bizzare" category.

@@RRaucina Why do you call them "rube goldberg". They are nowhere near being that. They have a specific function. You are the second person that unjustifiably calls them that. Do you even know what a Rube Goldberg device is? Why do you feel you have to tear down other people's work just to make yours better? Higher quality work and ideas stand for themselves. Funny how you and this guy "Here is a comparison - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX3LfpidnNGCi7s" do the same thing and have inferior concepts.

@@AztecWarrior69 That is a double acting air cylinder operating with a 3 way valve. That means the down stroke is gravity only. No 2x4's are involved. The linear actuators are powered in both directions and you can choke a chicken on that, but really it is not a concern on any system. Chickens are fast and bright.
@AztecWarrior69
@AztecWarrior69 3 жыл бұрын
@@RRaucina "That is a double acting air cylinder operating with a 3 way valve. That means the down stroke is gravity only." That's NOT what that means at all. A double acting Cylinder is a cylinder that has an air port at each end and they are used to push the piston in and out. "Powered" IN and OUT. That has NOTHING to do with or "meaning" gravity down. Do you not know what you are using? LOL "No 2x4's are involved." Are you that stupid? 0:00 just what exactly is the rod from the cylinder connected to? I'll give you a hint. A fucking 2x4. LOL. "The linear actuators are powered in both directions" Well no shit. That means it is controlled both ways. Controlled up and controlled down. "you can choke a chicken on that" You almost got one right. While they have a lot of force and can crush a chicken, they move so slow that it doesn't matter. Yours moves so fast that you can do just as much damage. Again, "Chickens are fast and bright.". Yes they are. You should hand over the keys to your household. They are brighter than anyone in it. You should give them control. LOL Why haven't you tried to rebuttal my other points? Could it be that you have no substantial reasoning behind it all and your Rube Goldberg Device is NOT the ultimate simplified way and nor is it magical in any way? LOL I also noticed you emphatically try to demean and degrade other people's work, all while yours is just as bad. I say worse.
