Hey man great videos but I wanted to ask if u ever tried a marshall dsl20 or 100 head to me they’re very similar to the valve state also if u put bass at 10 and mids0 treble7 gain8 resonance10 presence7 and press the tone shift u get a killer old school death metal tone

Other than that, amazing and super informative video., Welcome back, we need more of you, and I am glad you seem to be doing well! <3

@PlagueScytheStudios5 күн бұрын
What's confusing is how well the 7 string Meshuggah tone works for 8 string material, whether it be their's or other bands. A high gain Mesa Boogie boosted by an Integrated Preamp is the ticket for 8 strings. They didn't have to change a thing for Nothing but got caught by the convenience of the digital bug I suppose 🤷♂️

the real exact clone but stereo chorus is the marshall 8240 that i own. unfortunately the 8200 is good but not exactly the same preamp as 8100. anyway for stereo operation i have swapped one speker on mine with a g12t-75 and i keep chorus level and rate very very low. it works good and beeing the only guitarist of my band being stereo it's a good thing.

Man, i walked in the door with an 8100 a couple hours ago and the first thing I see is you with an 8200. Awesome. I got a VS100 early this year and had it gone through and a master volume added. It sounds good but definitely a little more tame than this 8100. Maybe some day I'll run across an 8200.

I have a very decent Valvestate emulation on my FM9 using an EQ boosed Shred Master drive pedal into the Atomica Low channel. Plenty of post EQ adjustment on the amp as well to get the Contour scoop, but the gain structure is remarkably close. I would try that combination out with the Marshall 4x12 T75 IRs.

I realise these presentation is 6 years old ...BUT.....The Randall into Marshall, Solid State Pre-Amp into Tube Power Amp idea seem's like it could give the best of both worlds....My question is about loads. I heard that you must ALWAYS have a load for a Tube amp. (cabinet or load Box)...BUT that is NOT the case for Solid State?....So in other words, you would be fine SENDing your solid state pre-amp signal to the RETURN of a Tube amp and then a Cabinet, without having a cabinet hooked up to your solid state amp? ....HOWEVER you would NEVER want to try that in reverse as it would fry the tube amp, because it requires a load for it's poweramp? Did I get that correct?...Thank you for any response. I plan on doing some experimenting and I don't want to fry anything. Cheers.
@PlagueScytheStudios6 күн бұрын
I happened to get a notification on this for some reason. Your understanding is basically correct as it applies to a majority of solid state power amp designs where 0 Ohms is an okay load. For instance, I sent my Valvestate 8100 preamp out via FX send into a tube amp's return and did not use a reactive load on the 8100. No issues occurred. However, if you are at all unsure about what the power amp design is, it's safer to at least use an adequately rated dummy load on solid state amps.
@algrundau94416 күн бұрын
@@PlagueScytheStudios Wow! Thanks for the quick response...So I should be good to go feeding a Dime D100 into a Boss Katana? (for its power scaling and effects)...So an adequately rated dummy load would be 4 ohms?

agreed with the body styles. super sick of seeing super strats and almost nothing else. companies mostly lack creativity and are unwilling to experiment because it may mean losing profits so "if it aint broke, dont fix it"... inlays are subjective. i like offset inlays. I agree with mostly everything else. guitars need to come with choices i.e. - active OR passive pickups, bolt on or set neck, color options more than black, etc...
@zabtej164510 күн бұрын
Dude you can make it sound the same with 6L6, the question is rather, how well we know what the gain staging formula is? That amp cleans up super nice, and it's the no.1 feature I like about it, that clinical clean if you play softer of roll back the volume. I suppose there is no major cold clipper, it's a rather static design throughout the gain stages with some really careful tailoring going on to prevent the honking and harsh buildup. I am building my amp to this spec, though I don't have a definite schematic. Do you think the gargoyle is an exact copy? I am mainly concerned about the 2k7 resistors, while in the cali mod 820R is used on all 3 stages. But it's very telling that on all designs I have seen, the value stays always the same for all gain stages in the cathode. This has to be important.
