Is this really Britain and the beat of academic discussion? Terrorists are clearly defined in ul law but it appears UK residents, in Oxford Uni, support terrorist action and dismiss democracy and the right to to all persons to live. Life is precious no matter your colour, sex or religion.

How is Trans issues anything to do with LGB? Just can’t see the connection.
@ruffryder13Күн бұрын
I'm always surprised when trans activists try to point at things they dont like and just declare them an existential threat. It's as if they don't realize how utterly ridiculous that looks.
@ruffryder13Күн бұрын
The fact that this wasn't discussed in a debate format is very telling.

The reason we don't join you in politics is because we know that you'll kick us out before we even try. You have your fancy education, houses, cars etc and don't understand struggle. If someone says their mother was a nurse or father a plumber they won't be spoken to by anyone at your palaces for the rest of the night at your fancy dinner parties. This is an age old story of elites winning and us peasants fighting over scraps. Our participation is just limited to voting and you know the saying "If voting worked, they would not allow it"

I've pulled a total 180 on this topic to anti, just by listening to transactivists. We're never relenting against this insanity. Also, *combating 🧐

Of course one of the speakers felt it was necessary to say that they're a boxer. Lots of combating going on on all levels I guess.

let's assume for the sake of argument that AIs that do nothing but calculate and are just like knives. Then what about taking one of those calculators and giving it a reward functioon for doing actions in the real world? Then would you accept that's an existential risk to humanity? less intelligent AI agents that seek rewards from interacting in the real world are already built and in existence. And there's a monetary incentive to use AIs as agents in the real world to make profit. So his argument still leads you to conclude that AIs are an existential risk since they could easily be modified to be an existential risk and likely will.

Moderator needs more experience- nervous laughter, not composed, not professional, feels immature and not ready. Moderator’s capability is important to the overall professionalism of the discussion.

Trans people are people. Start treating people like the human beings they are . We all have our own experiences and we need to respect each. I have no time for people who think their old book grants them special knowledge or a mandate over other people.

We know they're people. What kind of people they are is the debate. And we reject their demands.

Just learned something reference and sources are really important when debating. So if someone ask you for a source, the youre ready. I think thats the only mistake ben made here. He wasnt ready for a source/reference that will back up his statement. But he composes himself really well and still managed to state his opinion. 👏

Watched most arguments, but not all. All I did watch was reflexively neurotic and failed to address the implications of AI in the near and long term. I chalk the reflexive neorosis up to an Identify Friend or Foe Algorithm implicit in human cognition. Until weacclimate to this new phenomenon, expect the flight or fight response to continue. For those who managed to bypass the IFF squalk, here is how I see AI: AI will never control humanity because we are too narcissistic to allow that. Original sin is operative in all souls at all times: Everybody wants to rule the world. I can readily see AI being adopted as referees and moderators, but no, the machine will never be let off leash. With that said, the true contribution AI will make to the human condition will be an immediate and rapidly increasing acceleration of the learning curve. The immediate result will be the exponential compression of the innovation cycle. Academia will continue to exercise imprimatur on the knowledge used to train AI models, and users will increasingly rely on AI to explore and adapt applications of all underlying knowledge, and AI will remain a tool. Authentic human creativity will persist beyond the reach of AI and, for that reason, be valued more in the obvious contrast. The initial novelty of AI as a tool will wear off and it will be regarded as just another feature of a common toolset. What will remain is a generation who have unprecedented access to, use of, and therefore understanding of the underlying knowledgebase. My AI will just be better than yours 😜

Exactly, it has nothing with liberal democracy. Who has a democracy in this day and age?Actually,we never had one. Neo-liberalism, Neo- cons, weapons contractors, Nato, The International Monetary Fund, World Bank and technocrats, wars for profits, all contributes to world economies. It daunting for one mind to behold. Welcome to Adam Smith's writings of what he warned about. Capitalism has had its day, Vulture capitalism with AI with the tech companies backing genocide in Palestine. Zionism is an ideology, it does not one is antisemitic. Fascism and racisim are words of ignorance. The Balfour Declaration 1917. Welcome to Aldoux Huxley's "Brave New World." Hannah Arendt was one of the greatest political philosophers of the 20th century. Explore her books, "The Banaily of Evil," "The Life of Mind," Volumes 1 & 2, "The Origins of Tolertarism." Dr. Iiam McGilchrist books and lectures.He is a psychiatrist, neuroscience reseacher philosopher and literary scholar from Scotland who lives on the "Isle of Sky." "The Master and His Emissary," The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World, "The Matter With Things," 2 volumes, Our Brains, Our Delusions and the Unmaking of the Western World. He is speaking with many various fields of backgrounds in sciences, technology AI, history, physics, literature and creative arts, theological backgrounds, of how the left and right side of the brain works. These books will help further generations to come. Subsequently, Dr. McGilchrist contributions with his life's works will remain as as the most important in our lifetime. Look at Forbes Magazine and see who has the greatest wealth of elites. Understand history and philosophy on many levels on all sides. Imperialism and colonization.
