Very few young guys want to be in the cow calf business. A lot of us old guys are taking this opportunity to cash out. That's why the fences are gone and everything is soybeans. ☹️

The HPAI primarily targets mammary tissue and lactating beef cows are generally spread out on pasture/ range. So there is little risk to beef cows. Feedlot cattle are at extremely low risk because of the lack of active mammary tissue.

I raise cattle in southern Canada. I am curious as to how the tarriffs that President Trump is going to inact will affect the cattle market on both sides of the border. I really enjoy your show.

When Brasil ships its harvest in June to China, probably through Chancay port, the US farmer will already be committed for 2025 and know what the demand market looks like. What a gamble !

The irony of China infrastructure in Brasil and most of the world...the US has military bases such that the US is protecting China ports, trains, dams ....for free.

The Brasil - China alliance is not short term. Chancay Port in Peru just opened and will be shipping out Brasil agriculture now . Expect Brazilian farmers to buy farm tractors and harvesters from China , at 80% less cost than anything built in the USA.

The break even price is probably out of reach at this point. The thought process is now minimalizing the loss.

I'm reading that 31% of last year's soybean crop is still in the silo , while Brazil is looking at another record year. And now that the Peru Chancay port is open this week, I gotta believe that the Brazil crop will be shipped to China this way , allowing Brazil to sell beans at a market price with lower transportation costs overall. Time to re-evaluate that break- even point during the winter.
