When you say if you can be successful at Penns you can be successful everywhere. Why? Can you elaborate? I was under the impression penns had a lot of fish per square mile.

Been hopping around creeks alot here the past few weeks and i think alot of the spinning guys hate seeing a fly rod show up to their fav holes. Watched this guy comb over a 20yrd section for 30mins and not get a single hit. Asked to fish above him in water he already had a go at, got the green light, and had 2 fish landed in 10mins. He packed it up about 10 mins after i got the 2nd fish while i was stuck in a tree from a 3rd popping me off.

Couldn’t agree more with ya!! It’s always funny seeing their faces too when you just start ripping fishing out right where they were previously fishing lol

Shad fishing is like Crack ! You did good for the first time. Been shad fishing for 40 years. You need to jig that dart. They hit it as it falls. Put a 1/4 to 3/8 barrel weight on the line, tie on a swivel, 18 inch leader, then a dart or spoon. When using a spoon, bend it a little where the hook meets the spoon. This makes it wabble back and forth. Just cast out and reel in slowly. Shad fishing will get frustrating. You need to move from spot to spot depending on the river level. Good luck !

Penns Creek fishes great when it’s high. A girdle bug/pats rubber legs is a killer pattern there all year round. There are stone flies in there as big as your pinky finger. I especially like the large pattern because they can see it easier in high water and you lose less fish once hooked

What fly rod and reel combo would you recommend for a beginner fly fisherman? I will be fishing small to medium size creeks no wider than say 35 feet at the widest. I am not looking for the cheapest combo available but something middle of the rode that will last. I am an experienced fisherman in both fresh and salt, but never tried the fly game. Thanks in advance and awesome you had a chance to fish the famous Penns Creek in PA!

The path that you were riding the bike on, Couldn’t you just drove in?

My man, you got to be cateful, rule is you cant fish within 100 feet of that fishway. The painted rock is 100 feet (used to be yellow). Gavin was way too close, You may have been as well. No need to get in trouble, might want to consider pulling this video before fish and boat sees.
