We are based in Umbria, and I am totally at the end of my tether with the cinghiali. They have just dug up everything, and although we have fenced our orto, I am now developing a larger permaculture food forest and need to protect it from their attacks. I am trying to piece together a system of VOSS elements. Do you have any recommendations for voltage needed to deter them? I'm hoping we don't need to resort to the rebar fence solution yet!

I would like to purchase a small amount, 100 to 200 grains. I am developing my own Rostrato variety which will be similar to Nero Spinoso. I have Floriani, as well as several Rostrato varieties from Happy Cat Farm, but none of them have the dark pericarp like your Rosso di Rovetta. How might I obtain some?

@@nfevelo Hello Nicholas. If possible, I would be very pleased to purchase a small packet for my home garden. It seems like a very special variety. If possible, please let me know. In years past, I have grown Floriani, Otto File and Roys Calais. How does the the flavor of Rostrato differ would you say?

Everything I read states to trap them and remove them from the area. Hunting them will not work it only makes them reproduce more and harder to trap.

I live in Salerno and i have some boar problems too of course. The fence is the best option i suppose, and i don't get why you have to dig so deep if you can simply put some heavy rocks on the ground to prevent animals from digging, maybe bricks. A common method used in italy is also the sound, some simulate a firearm shoot and others some other sounds. I'm trying , but i'm not sure it will work, i can put some food for them outside the fences to maybe addomesticate them. Peeing on the fence is also a good idea :) The fact that surprised me is that they can jump and go up the fences even if they are so big and heavy. So you need fences that are pretty high, more than one meter for sure , maybe 1.5 m is a good one. Trees and walls also help, and if you want barbed brambles are a good plant that scares boars. A fence of barbed blackberry can prevent them from coming. I don't know if you was joking with the human presence, i don't expect anyone to sleep outside near your crops lol ... with a tent? for a month? or 2? It's just ridicolous. Human presence is not practical. Unless you want to live in your garden like tarzan or a wild man, that sure is effective lol. Dogs can help and replace the human presence, or other addomesticated animals.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. One thing I'm not sure about - does it have a two-stage clutch or the equivalent so that you can disengage the wheel drive while still running the implement. It's a feature on my Massey Ferguson 35x that I use a lot when toppering/mowing in heavy stuff that allows me to briefly reduce/stop forward speed to let the implement clear a particularly heavy patch. Since a big reason for wanting a machine like this is to use the flail mower to bash down heavy brambles etc in places where the 35x is just too big to get to and I think I would miss being able to use the same technique. Thanks.

Thanks for this... I'm weighing up getting one of these vs an old kubota 'big boy' tractor. My land is terraced and I have a lot of trees so I think the BCS will be able to access much more of the land. But yea these decisions are not easy so I appreciate the straight talk.

I want to cross two radish varieties. What is the best way to do this? Should I have a radish of each variety indoors in a controlled environment and pollinate them when they flower? Or should I have several radishes of each varieties growing side by side outdoors then look for variations when I then go to grow out these seeds looking for a successful cross?

I know this feeling. I have a large terraced garden. They have brought whole sections of wall down, trees have been uprooted. Electric fencing and shotgun slugs are the only stuff that works.
