In my opinion, I think is helping the immigrants. No place like like home. Let's make use of whatever years we need to spend here and go back to our country. Getting uk citizenship is not necessary.

The UK must really think that they are great. Far too high cost for literally anything - living expense is crazy. many other countries look and seem better in most areas when compared to Great Britain yet they don't impose these wild restrictions. If legit immigrants are removed from the equation, the country will become imbalanced

Why not just take in fewer people and treat them with respect as opposed to treating people who are here legally this way. It is hard to give up your life to work in the uk with many restrictions and never have stability until 15 years.

Kemi is the leader of 1 of the 2 major parties (Conservatives) in the UNITED KINGDOM. She's not the leader of Nigeria. She should do the will of the British people, not the will of foreigners, including Nigerians. I know that it is shocking for foreigners to hear, that the leader of a country wants to take care of the people of that country, but maybe if other leaders take care of their citzens those citizen wouldn't be looking for where to migrate to.

Kemi is only reflecting what she believes to be the view of her constituents (those that put her in power), I wish Nigerian politicians do the same. We should not shoot the messenger. As a footnote, it takes 15 years to get Nigerian citizenship ! why are we complaining if Kemi is trying to replicate a similar policy?

My question is, if this unfair idea was to be true and implemented will it affect the ones who are already here on a 5 year spouse visa route?

Dont take politicians words too serious, expecially when they are not yet in power, when theygot in power, they will face and see the reality face to face.and amend most of thier agendas before they enter. A president onces said during election,he will end ukraine russia war soonest, now they reversed that they need resources from ukraine to support them in war. Politicians face realities when they are on seat

This woman is very bitter with whatever I don’t know, her plan is a joke. 15 whole years is not moi moi. She has shot herself, This one is classical case of over sabi person. She is just bitching about. I personally spent more than 10 years to get my own passport, but it was because I misbehaved.

Ok if they increase it to 10 yrs work permit before ILR is given, will that apply to people who are already here working ? Yes if it was 5 yrs at the time you started working, can it apply to you all of a sudden? I think not because that would be a breach to what I was told ehen i started working. Am I making any sense ? A person missing I action for 5 yrs is usually declared non existent aren't they ? So why 10 yrs ?

Olukemi (later shortened to Kemi) Olufunto Adegoke was born on 2 January 1980 in Wimbledon, London.[11] Her mother had travelled from Nigeria to the UK to give birth in St Teresa's private hospital before the British Nationality Act 1981 abolished automatic birthright citizenship for those born in the United Kingdom, and then returned to Nigeria shortly after Badenoch was born.[12][13][14]In later interviews, Badenoch denied claims she was an "anchor baby" and asserted that her family did not know she was in fact eligible for a British passport until she was a teenager.[15][16] She is one of three children born to Nigerian Yoruba parents. She is an anchor baby

They didn't move to the uk. They came to give birth to her. They took her out as soon as she picked up the passport and moved back permanently after 16yrs. She didn't pay a dime, and her parents didn't pay their ways. You are far more british than her

It's better to move to Irish Republic. After 6 years of work in the country you can apply for citizenship and once you have it you can live and work in all EU countries plus UK without any visas or work permits 😊
