I have been drinking coffee for 48 years and in the 80s 90s and early 2000s I used to drink three pots a day now I just drink homemade iced coffee with no sugar and I only have about 2-3 cups a day however I'm in the process of weaning off of it by adding Decaffeinated in every time I make new batch of ice coffee I add more and more decaf and I plan to quit it entirely over the next little while.

That's a lot of coffee! I'm glad you are weaning off of it! Let me know how it goes it's definitely worth it! I was just thinking to myself that I used to drink 3-4 cups a day for so long and now I'll have maybe a cup or two at most (decaf). Thanks for watching and commenting btw, it means a lot to hear from everyone.

Ever since I quit caffeine, I get a caffeine buzz just from being in a room where tea or coffee is being made or drunk. I am absorbing the substance through my nostrils from the air! And it gives me a similar mood lifting, focus improving effect as drinking it. Has anybody else noticed this effect? My friends laugh at me, but they wouldnt know since they are all caffeine addicts. But it's also because I work from home. If I was at a workplace and surrounded by caffeine drinkers, I would quickly develop a good tolerance.

@@AlexKojfman Thanks for the reply! Actually I get a buzz that lasts a day or two, maybe 20-30% intensity of what you might get if you have a cuppa one day while being off it for weeks. And it's either because mostly I am in a caffeine free environment, or that I am highly sensitive to caffeine. I suspect it is a mix of both factors.

How mutch heat do I put it on on an electric stove
@AlexKojfman
@AlexKojfman 11 күн бұрын
I grew up with an electric stove and I just remember that it's not as responsive. you can cook it on any amount of heat (usually medium to med-low is best) you just have to watch as the eggs form the ring around the pan and then once it does you can swish the eggs around (with chop sticks or a spatula) You can cut the heat then bc your pan should still have enough heat to cook the rest of the eggs.

I make pasta sauce (San Marzano tomatoes, EVOO, salt, pepper, fresh basil) at least twice a week. I have been buying Cento San Marzano Whole Peeled Tomatoes for the taste, and that is the best I can find in my small Kansas town. But in 2024 they have abandoned their quality, IMO. They no longer include basil in the can (even though the label clearly says "WITH BASIL LEAF" in all caps ). Instead, they are now leaving on the peel (even though the can says "peeled"), and as an added bonus, they are NOT removing the green core where the stem was attached, nor the seeds. While they may be from Italy, that huge decrease in quality means Cento is no longer a brand I will buy. Very disappointing!!! Thank you for this video, Alex!

Caffeine suppresses appetite. That is why you had food cravings. Caffeine also suppresses the body’s detox. After watching your video, I really appreciated the research and effort you put into it. I've struggled with quitting coffee twice. Last year, I made it 14 days before subconsciously going back. If I plan to quit again, I think I'll get rid of my coffee machine or at least put it in storage. That way, I would have to consciously and deliberately decide to go back to coffee since it wouldn't be in my house. The hardest day for me was day nine-I felt like I was going to throw up from the lack of caffeine, and the Earth's pressure felt unbearable. Despite this, I'm determined to try quitting again at some point. Currently, I'm on high blood pressure medication, which makes caffeine more relaxing for me, but I get anxiety if I consume over 400 mg. Today, I had 310 mg from a 24-ounce cup of coffee with an additional espresso shot, and it was like meeting the "God of Anxiety." However, I'm good at using bad experiences to motivate me to quit. For instance, a bad hangover usually keeps me off alcohol for at least 100 days. I believe quitting coffee could help me handle crowds better since caffeine contributes to my anxiety. During the pandemic, I learned that caffeine played a huge role in my anxiety, and my doctor advised me to go easy on it. There's never a perfect time to quit, but with my kids out of school, now might be ideal. By the time they return, I could be two months caffeine-free. Caffeine addiction is so normalized, yet so challenging to overcome. Thank you for all the hard work on your video. I hope to successfully quit coffee soon and see how it impacts my high blood pressure. Maybe getting off caffeine will allow me to lower my medication dose-only time will tell. I look forward to finding out. Cheers and thank you again!
@AlexKojfman
@AlexKojfman Ай бұрын
Caffeine addiction is normalized for sure. I have a bunch of comments saying they could never give up coffee and I used to be like that. I like the idea of removing your coffee machine for the time being but have you thought about just introducing half caffeine and then decaf into your coffee routine so you go down slowly? I do wish you the best in trying to do this. I find less anxiety would be better for sure but also you will sleep better I think which also helps. Or have one cup regular coffee (less than 400mg) and then a halfcaf or decaf later in the day. So long as you keep below that level you see fit. Let me know how it goes!

I've been drinking only a single 12-oz cup of coffee (at breakfast) for at least 3 decades. I tried to drink more--half a cup or 1 cup extra. I don't enjoy that excess over 1 cup. My body repels it after about 2 sips, so I pour out the rest. 1 cup is enough for me. I've heard of the perils of decaf. Apparently, the process used to remove (most of) the caffeine might be carcinogenic. Try green tea or any herbal tea.

Not worried about potential carcinogenic things. Lots of stuff can cause cancer. And I don’t think the research suggests that from what I’ve seen but I’ll look more into that. Swiss water process is supposedly fine but honestly I don’t think it’s worth worrying about it. So lately I too don’t finish my coffee (decaf) and I really only max out at 2 cups a day if that. I think that if you can handle regular coffee and do what works for you without arising sleep or feeling good. Do that. And it sounds like you found a routine that works for you
@writerforlifeify
@writerforlifeify Ай бұрын
@@AlexKojfman Agreed. Do what works best for you without depriving yourself entirely of the sheer pleasure of coffee, regular or decaf. That 1st (& usually only) cup of the day invigorates & pleases me. I always look forward to it. The 2nd half-cup feels redundant & excessive. If I have to force myself to finish it, that's a sign that my body has had enough. Sometimes, when I'm in the mood, I add a dollop of (light, 1/2 fat) Cool Whip to my steaming cup--for a touch of sweetness & creaminess. But black is my default. We know dark roast coffee (like French Roast) contains less caffeine than lighter (Blonde) roasts. Dark is my fave as I love its smoky boldness. But it can have a burnt taste; the beans are roasted to the brink of incineration.

In my video I mention Kevin kos’ website that doesn’t specify malic acid for lemon super juice. He uses it for lime super juice which I’ve made several times and prefer more. I just visited his page and you have to login to view the calculator now. :( but it’s just signing up w your email address. Also not sure if you saw the entire video but for grapefruit super juice he uses a bit of MSG which I thought was interesting.
