can you share your parameters and what are you using as your source of dosing

@@EIY_Kumar I dose ESV Bionic 2 part. For parameters I target an alk of 7.5-8, ca of 420-440, and mag of 1350.

If read sea sees that most users don't like the reservoir for RO water why they even include it in the product! It should be optional so that we don't buy it. They could add an option of a bigger one that you put somewhere outside the stand. It is silly to be filling it up every 3 days.

Thank you for your kind feedback. Yes, I need to get some more videos ready! :) My MH fixture I got off Reef2reef. It’s a great forum and they have a selling goods section. You can still buy them new from Germany, but they are quite expensive. Sometimes eBay has them as well - it’s a Giesemann Spectra.

@@zburnreefingthank you! Have you changed your feeding method? You do once a week?
@zburnreefing21 күн бұрын
@@Dibilibix27 no real changes. Feed fish heavy each day - pellets, nori, and mysis. I also feed coral particulate foods about twice a week to keep nutrients up. Usually reef roids and benepets. If phosphate gets too high, I’ll cut back on the coral foods temporarily. I also will feed some oyster feast a couple times a week as well.

@@zburnreefing Nice! Last question, could please send me the link or name of your two part with traces. Is the ESV, but I didn't find all together.
Would you buy this tank/strand again or switch to something else?
@zburnreefing22 күн бұрын
Tbh, I’d probably go with something else. For 2 reasons…1) this downflow valve is so finicky and a constant annoyance to adjust and 2) I hear of too many horror stories of the G1 tanks busting a seam. I think the G2s are much better built now but I just despise the downflow valve. Some say if you swap it for a gate value it’s more easy to tune, so perhaps I’ll give that a go.

Looking to get back in the hobby. Im leaning towards a Red Sea because their sumps seem to have room for their reefmat. Have you thought about getting a reefmat? You also posted that you would have looked into a waterbox. Any reason why WB would be better? Thanks
@zburnreefing2 ай бұрын
Honestly, after I purchased this tank, there were several stories of generation 1 tanks starting to blow out due to seam failure. I am not sure I’ve seen where at G2 has failed, but it has me on edge a little bit. Risk is probably low, but there has been just a few too many seam failures for me, at least enough to consider other options besides Red Sea…I’d also look at innovative marine, waterbox, and aqua forest. I like the reefmat for sure, I’ve just never gotten one because my tanks are always too clean. In fact, when I vacuum out my sump, my nutrients dive and some of my corals pale out on me.

That is a solid setup for sure! I bet you’re getting really nice growth with that bulb combo. Which 6500k bulbs are you using? They still sell the old GE bulbs?
@crutch69913 ай бұрын
Respectfully, you provided no information regarding any of your levels for cal, alk, mag, nitrates, phos. Like do you run reef moonshiners? What's your lighting? What's your flow? This is literally, "here's how my tank grows corals" which is definitely very cool, but ultimately doesn't mean anything without supporting information. With that said, subbed bc i still love the content
@zburnreefing3 ай бұрын
Fair comments for sure. I think that information could be pieced together from my other videos, but that does sound like a chore. I'll be sure to include my parameters and basic methods in the next one for sure. If its helpful at this point to you, alk around 8, CA 420ish, Mag 1350+. I don't really test nutrients much, but I feed heavy and deal with algae as best I can through manual removal and some support from CUC. I just do water changes, no moonshiners, run a skimmer, UV, metal halide/t5 combo, and that's about it - or the cliff notes anyways. I run my tank like its 2007 for the most part, haha. Will definitely dive in to my methods in more detail soon so the new viewers have a better orientation and can find more value in the content.

thanks for sharing this knowledge. i’ve always thought browning were due to high phosphates. my hanna was testing high while the icp came back under 0.1 which frustrated me. will revisit and try these methods
@zburnreefing3 ай бұрын
0.1 phosphate should be no issue, maybe experiment with increasing your lighting/PAR and/or making sure that coral gets a little bit of time to bake under some full spectrum (i.e., whites) if running leds. Coral may just need more light. You might could achieve success without changing light intensity and going the low nutrient route, but I find that approach to be less stable and more risky.
@MACNTOSFAM3 ай бұрын
@@zburnreefing thanks! do you have walt disney corals in your tank? what levels do you keep your macronutrients along with Ca & dKh?

@@MACNTOSFAM Hi, yes I do have a walt disney at the moment. I keep dkH at around 8 and Ca at 420. I haven't checked nutrients in sometime...usually pretty low, phosphate below 0.1 and nitrate <3. I try to feed quite heavy- heavy in and heavy out.

Great video. Nice to see the side by side comparison. What lights are you using. I’m ready/needing to upgrade and looking for new lights. Thanks!!
@zburnreefing3 ай бұрын
For this latest tank I actually went back to metal halide/T5. Just out of preference. Most are running leds and as long as you have enough units for good coverage you should be successful…and perhaps giving your corals a little bit of time to bake under full spectrum (i.e., whites on) each day will help with growth a little if you feel you need a small boost.
