I really want a farm/ranch/homestead. How do I afford all of this equipment? What's a good place to start ?
@tickcreekranch6 сағат бұрын
Just start with the land and go from there. Without land, you have nothing. Study regenerative ranching/farming practices. It requires very little equipment to become profitable.

@@tickcreekranch thanks so much for your reply. I have a house with a strip of land that is about 75 yards long and 20 yards wide. We had a huge tornado a few years back that still has me rattled and I'm not easily rattled. I came across your channel while looking for solutions/alternatives. Thank you for this video. I hope to build something similar whenever I get the means.

Serious question from a building noob: could you just use a storage container? What would you need to do to adapt a container to work for this?

Could be done but they have a tendency to collapse. Maybe install upside down. The floor is strong. The roof not so much

Should have been all reinforced concrete, even the roof. Wood frame and corrugated steel will not last in the ground. There's a reason foundations are concrete. Nice build though.
@tickcreekranchКүн бұрын
It’s not meant to last. It’s a very affordable solution to a problem we have now. We mill our lumber, own the equipment and don’t pay ourselves😁 before it implodes we will ex it back out and use it as a form to pour s.r. concrete.

@@tickcreekranch”affordable” until it goes bad way faster than it should when you should just do it correct the first time. Now that person is going to have to pay double or triple the cost to fix it cause you were to lazy to do it right at first.

If you are willing to use the budget fence chargers, which you did, Im not sure why you didnt save more money by skipping the inverter and getting a budget dc charger. On the other hand, I wonder if in time you will decide the extra $1OO is better to go with a dc cyclops. I like what you did and tried here, hope it gives you a long time of use, and thanks for sharing. Edit .. I will say, though, I do like the multimeter readings that the inverter gives you.

@tickcreekranchКүн бұрын
I rarely have more than 5/8 mile of total fencing that’s hot. This keeps it really “spicy”. The price increase from a 3 to 6J was negligible so I went for the bigger badder one. This whole set up was comparable in price to the 1J Gallagher and it also has remote/fault finder😁 Love it!

Same watched a ton on youtube and this is 1 of maybe 3 good videos on building a solar charger and i think the best one. I got a parmak 3j solar fencer and it was complete junk. I have no idea why you are going to build something called a cellar when it’s above ground and it’s not a cellar at all Please explain how this is going to keep you safe. I don’t think so. The only place you’re safe is in the ground.

Without metal hangers, that'll be falling apart in a few years, maybe. You do incredible work, but it surprises me that you're not using metal hangers.
@tickcreekranch4 күн бұрын
I strongly disagree and have the evidence and experience to prove it. Hangers are inferior in comparison. This is superior to hangers and has been the proven method for 100+ years until manufacturers lobbied to force everyone through “code” to use their products. Moving to a county without a building department and regulations was top of the list. I challenge anyone to do a lateral load test between the two methods. It will open many eyes. Thanks for the compliment, but we’ll have to agree to disagree on the matter of pressure blocking. 👍
