The Entire Idea, by Joseph Smith, that "The Garden of Eden" with "Adam & Eve" took place in Missouri is just crazy. I think it is one of the greatest examples of Joseph Smith and his imagination. THIS IDEA does not track with The Old Testament. It's just silly. AND... assuming it is false, it's a False Doctrine...FALSE PROPHECY.... and gives us an answer as to WHAT Joseph Smith REALLY was.

Another point. The earlier brethren and Prophets spoke to the people on a more personal level. As early as the 60’s and 70’s the Prophet and Apostles would sleep at the Stake President’s house when they would visit for a Stake Conference. My father told me about a Stake Conference he went to in Arizona where George Albert Smith spoke about a visitation he had had from the Savior. And afterwards a little boy came up to him and asked him if what he said about seeing the Savior was true. The Prophet responded, “young man I cannot think back upon my life when I have ever told a lie. Yes, I really did see the Savior”. Why am I telling this story. It’s an example of how the brethren got more intimate about what they saw. I think because of the size of the Church and perhaps even the lack of being able to “rub shoulders” with the people. The Brethren are a lot more careful about what they say from the stand.

I love this mix of scriptures to remind us of the power of prayer and God’s willingness to help us.

There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there is perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books and Benchmark Books.

I think this goes beyond the pulpit on fast Sundays. Thank you President Oaks.

I know that he is saying nothing but the truth but I have a very hard time loving those who has harmed or used me. That is what I find impossible. I will continue to work on it but I don't know if IWill ever succeed.

Thank you, President. I know you are a prophet of God by the power of God. The Holy Ghost bares unmistakable witness. I love your message.

All the prophets of old were out among blood thirsty enemies and faced people in person and they were persecuted and killed, knowing that their actions would endanger their lives. However this man who calls himself a prophet speaks only from behind podiums and safe environments, with securities around him. Why? Why doesn’t he go to Middle East (Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and other places without securities and speak to people. Leaders lead with example, similar to all the prophets in the Bible. In how do we know if a person is a true prophet or a false prophet, Jesus himself said: “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20 KJV) And what are those fruits? “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.” (Galatians 5:22) How do you know if this man in the video possess such qualities if he has not been put into the extreme tests like the ancient prophets? Any body from behind the podium can act with love, joy, gentleness, goodness and faith--that does not merit any greatness. Greatness is proved through the extreme fire of tests among the enemies with no safety nets where one’s life is entirely in the hands of God. This man who calls prophets has not passed a single test. The Bible’s mandate is: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.“ (1 John 4:1) “Prove all things…” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) This man who calls himself prophet has not allowed anyone to test and prove him, not even in an open public debate against scholars and historians in America, much less proving himself by going to other countries I mentioned above and openly walk the streets and teach his message among the enemies like Christ and the apostles did. An untested prophet is not a prophet at all.
