Even though I'm not an active member of the church, I thank you President Nelson for this speech. What you are dealing with is a huge problem in our country. You're saying things that are not discussed nearly enough concerning all the anger and bitterness that we all have to deal with almost daily. We need more leaders like you in our world who will address these issues.

Shouldn’t we be thanking GOD for Jesus’ example instead of the prophet of the decade? It’s interesting how small minded this God seems to be, and instead of being unchanging and all knowing.. well, through following the “prophets” God in fact does change, regularly in fact, he also changes his mind after he’s commanded something new too… make it make sense

But others not forgiving us isn't something that we can control. That's up to them. And it in no way invalidates our forgiveness of them because they don't reciprocate. You sound like you are well on the path. And this is a path ALL of us are on ... together. Don't be so hard and yourself. It sounds like you're doing the hard work, and doing it well. I thought I was doing all right with this subject, but I see more improvement is needed. It's OK because we have a great friend by our sides to steer us right. 😘

I unfriended people on social media who want to fight about politics. It isn’t because I don’t like them, but they are in my ward congregation and I have to work with these people. I wanted to have good will for them in spite of our differences. A thought came to mind that if I was standing in prayer circles at the temple would I feel contentious towards them.
@TheWordsofChristАй бұрын
Politics is literally man's replacement for religeon. The founders of communism meant for politics to replace faith in God so the people of the earth could be educated and controlled by principles that are not of God. To argue over politics is to play into the hands of those who's goal it is to create a Godless society.

Jesus Loves you. Remember.. “I can do all things the Christ which strengtheneth me.” - Philippians 4:13 And I’d like to share with you my favorite scripture verse that helps to ENDURE life’s challenges.. “Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many, but ENDURE THEM, for, lo, I AM WITH THEE, even unto the end of thy days.” - Doctrine & Covenants 24:8 Know that your Heavenly Father loves you, your Savior loves you, and I love you. You are NEVER alone. Even though they may treat you poorly, LOVE THEM. DO GOOD TO THEM. Everyone on this earth and that has ever lived is a child of God, including you. God wants us to love everyone no matter what they do or say about you. That’s the true love of Christ. 💖

How are we to treat people who behave unprofessionally with Christlike compassion? Or those who say obscene things to attempt to seduce us, or who are bent on teaching our children false and even filthy things? I think saying, "You've lost sleep, it seems. You're under great strain. Is there anything I can do to ease what you're going through?", MIGHT be appreciated, and considered kind and appropriate. Other times when Tension or Adversity is too extreme to put up with it or STAND it, like Joseph of Egypt with Potipher's wife, it seems the best thing to do is to just GET OUT of that situation IMMEDIATELY, ( of course not sans apparel if possible when acting IMMEDIATELY. chuckle...) It's situations like this that make one wish one could watch Christ's mortality Times like a movie, over and over, studying Him. He did express long-suffering or "impatience" when His closest fellow Kingdom builders were selfish and shallow in thinking. He did rarely lose His temper "righteously," such as in the Temple. His divine Judgement makes me feel awe and hungry to watch or study His ways of thinking, and to comprehend His perfect motives and attitudes better. I hope we'all can just keep working on these types of understanding as much as we can, every day.

Dorris, I know where you are standing, because I am walking with you. I had just had a major surgery to fuse my ankle in 2021 and nearly died from a staphylococcus infection. I had recently been diagnosed with Extreme Post Traumatic Stress and Anxiety Disorder. When I got home in May of 2021 my newly assigned Bishop spent the rest of the year making me worse without ever meeting me once. He never interviewed me, yet told me I was not reading my scriptures daily. He informed me that as long as he is Bishop, he will see to it that I will never receive any aid physical, neither financial. I am extremely grateful for the Catholic and Nudist charities because otherwise I quite literally would have starved to death or be dead without them. I have requested for missionaries to do monthly visits, and He has made sure that those were discontinued even though I have requested them through the web and the 1-800 number, and I am medically home bound for medical reasons, and am bound to a wheelchair. No one in the local area of the church here in Chandler, AZ is willing to have anything to do with me based on the ugly things the Bishop has said. The Bishop who never choose to interview me. The Bishop who chose to deny my temple recommend being renewed and who refused to come to my home with his Bishopric to do it when I am medically home bound, since six months prior to COVID starting. On thing I can promise you Dorris, is that it does not matter what all these other people think nor say. I know I have The teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are true. I know that the Prophet standing at the head of the Church is called of God. I know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ Live. I know they want us all to strive to return to them, enduring each moment until we are called to return to them, remembering that this life is but a moment, not of sorrow, but of test of balance. Have wonderful pleasures of love, joy, happiness, rejoicing, praise, means we also have to experience, sadness, pain, sorrow, and loss. Jesus Christ can help us remember and savor the pleasures of life and help us find Peace, especially when we feel like we have to walk alone at time, when in truth we can even find peaceful rest while our Savior carries us a time until we are able to walk with him again.

For women in abusive marriage within our church please know that "turn the other cheek", "love your enemy" are not statements advocating tolerance of abuse. God does not want you to suffer the abusive words and actions of a spouse. Abuse can be physical threat, yelling, name calling, belittling,. Spiritual abuse can look like prevention of practice your belief or holding you to unrealistic spiritual standards, making judgment or fun of the way you try to implement religious practices such as pray, read scriptures hold family night. You are not to tolerate this behavior. If you've changed your ways, your personality, feel you need to walk on egg shells, afraid you can do nothing "right" then consider you maybe suffering from verbal abuse, or manipulation. The Lord wants you to grow spiritually, wisely, the Lord wants you to feel peace, love and protected. if your environment prevents you from feeling God's unconditional love consider needing a new environment. When women leave and start to heal that is when the "love your enemy" come in to play, to help you heal. Not to keep you there. The scriptures on turn the cheek does not mean you allow abuse to keep happening. Sometimes your turning the cheek as you walk away. You deserve peace, love and safety. God wants you to feel peace, he sent the prince of peace. You can not be a peace maker in an emotionally toxic environment. Please I beg you to seek help. I left after 10 years. I didn’t need to loose my religion. It wasn't the church teaching. It's the way we think. Some of us grew up being taught that it's our jobs to keep our spouse "happy" but that is not scriptures that is not true. We are not Jesus, we do not need to save our spouse either. That's Jesus job. We are meant to have a partnership in our journey to grow closer to our savior. The prophet words are true, don't let toxic relationship twisted thinking keep you stuck. I pray for you. My strength is yours. to know if I can do it, you can do it too. 💪 ❤

Turn the other cheek is taken out of context. It literally means to avoid being smitten twice. It is not an offering to the smiter, it is a warning to those who can see what is coming by what has already been. Sad to see this teaching being misrepresented.
@TheWordsofChrist27 күн бұрын
In Jesus' time, a slap to the right cheek was a backhanded insult meant to demean. Turning the other cheek (Matthew 5:39) forced the aggressor to strike with an open hand, acknowledging the victim's equality and challenging social norms. This act wasn't about inviting harm but asserting dignity and exposing injustice nonviolently. It aligns with Jesus' teaching to *"love your enemies"* (Matthew 5:44), showing a powerful, strategic response to oppression.
