The Western method does not consider the proportions of the shapes - proportions are what makes it pleasing to the eye, harmonious, & balanced, similar to why Phi/ the Golden Mean is called the “divine proportion”. Thank You, Sir, your videos are priceless, as is your collection from your family. I want to learn the traditional method, I’m especially interested in learning how an artist begins the design process - do they choose some shapes they’d like to use first, or???
@SydMountaineerАй бұрын
The shapes being proportional to each other (which Western method does not consider) is *why* the finished pattern is pleasing to the eye, giving visual balance & harmony, which is proven by science, math, & philosophy, sort of like why Phi/ the Golden Mean *(divine proportion)* / Golden Ratio/ Fibonacci Sequence & ratio & spiral works. I think this is the same type of thing.
@SydMountaineerАй бұрын
Yes, when a shape is not symmetrical, it affects & ruins the entire thing. Also, your 3rd reason is especially important, the “heart” of it all, proportions between the shapes must be preserved, which the Western method does not do. Thank You for explaining this! 💕
@SydMountaineerАй бұрын
Thank You! I’m interested in the traditional method, as that is true art & using true math. And Thank You for showing that the method has *not* been lost forever.

Actions seem meaningless and random, though I know they are not. I just wish you would explain how the angles and measurements were made. I would like to learn what is happening, not just how to follow a series of instructions.

These geometric patterns are uniquely Iranian, invented by Iranians several millennia ago, with no contribution from the Arab world. Even the Arabic script itself was crafted by Persian artisans. Prior to the arrival of Islamic forces in Persia, Arabs were largely unfamiliar with geometry. How, without knowledge of geometry, could such intricate works possibly have been created? The truth, like the moon, cannot remain forever hidden behind the clouds. thank you

Great work. I have heard people saying that the Islamic patterns were made through certain sets of gerha tiling (penrose tesselation) instead of square tiling. They say that based on research done by Professor Peter Lu. I would be very grateful to hear your opinion on that. Do you think is this the case or it's just unnecessarily connecting the dots by overthinking? What's your opinion based on your extensive experience and firsthand learning the art from the traditionally trained artisans?

Is there a specific meaning to this pattern, and is it respectful for all to use? Thank you 😊curious about origin. Beautiful.
@JosephGshortsАй бұрын
As a Muslim, these patterns were made by my faith’s people. But I would like to say that there are many non Muslims who do this, and we don’t mind, for the most part. And I personally love that non Muslims make this art, it isn’t religious, so go ahead and make them.
@JosephGshortsАй бұрын
They symbolise the order and infinite nature of god, although the patterns themselves aren’t inherently religious, take these 2 comments into consideration and may Allah bless you, Angelina Gargano.

@BawabatAlkhatAlarabi6 ай бұрын
My friend, when you consider the time (eleven weeks,) and more than 3 hours every week (total of more than 33 hours, and the number of patterns discussed during the course. When you consider all that, my courses are not expensive. Other people charge more for less time.
