I recently went back to Baghdad and visited Najaf and Karbala and cried at how beautiful our Islamic geometry and architecture is. Long live Iraq.

Thank you for teaching us this truly beautiful pattern. Very challenging, and my mistake was to be overambitious using only 55mm for the base line on first attempt. Then I tried again, doubling the size which enabled me to understand the construction of the small circles which is key to achieving correct angles for the little stars. The story had a happy ending - thank you again.

Wow I was always fascinated with these . I became a quilt maker because I got a book of these patterns out of the library almost 40 years ago . I never learned how to draw these but now I’m going to try .

Mohamad, you are my favorite person on this planet, because i KNEW something was wrong with other construction methods. i see how they scaled everything now so quickly. i guess they just figured it out by playing around and experimenting? or maybe buildings that contain little small windows containing repeat units passed down the information, but alot of that does not seem obvious. When i stare at the buildings i can identify subgrids, but i dont know how to recreate it. I guess craftsmen had all the same construction principles but variations and solutions were revealed in scrolls? or just through buildings? why is there only 2 scrolls? was it secret? is this still supposed to be a secret?

the feeling when u finish the construction process .. and u think you did great, but then when u r drawing the actual pattern u realize u went wrong .... so u have to do the whole thing again. SENPAI! I ADMIRE YOUR PATIENCE AND THE ABILITY TO REMEMBER ALL THE STEPS!!!
@BawabatAlkhatAlarabi7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Niddhi Apoorva for your kind comment, yes you do need patience plus a very good compass. From my experience, a bad compass can produce errors in the drawing.

Now i know why i screwed up. My compass is in a really bad condition. I have to get a new one.
