That must be over 30". I have a shorter Tenugui and I can't go around my head like that, with it. I have either have a short Tenugui or a "bubblegum machine" size head. 😜 I do wear size XL in a motorcycle helmet.

That's was excellent! However, I still need a little more information. How do you keep the cardboard stiffener from becoming water logged and badly shaped? How do you return the crispness to the pleats ... ironing? Thank you.
@Shogunkendogu
@Shogunkendogu 2 жыл бұрын
The hard, flat piece at the back (the 'koshi-ita') should be plastic. Its unlikely to lose its shape :) For the pleats, ironing isn't necessary if you fully dry the hakama, fold it neatly, and place it flat under a mattress #protip If you do decide to use an iron, make sure you use a very low heat and/or put a towel between the iron and the hakama. :)

Just did it and it went perfect, the other method it's very difficult if you have been using the shinai for a while. For me this one was the best option because my tsuka was also tearing a bit on the top part. Thanks!

How do you wash a white keikogi? Can I use soap since its white?
@Shogunkendogu

Another great question - you can wash white gear in the same way...and yes, you can use soap without a worry with white hakama and keikogi! (Please do not use bleach, though!)

Does that mean I should choose a men either with long width and short pitch, or one with short width and long pitch? Thanks!
@Shogunkendogu
@Shogunkendogu 5 жыл бұрын
It depends what you are after - but we would recommend a slightly wider width (for the cushion/protection) accompanied by an appropriate pitch to maintain the structure of the futon. Basically (we believe) that a wider width needs a shorter pitch. If you are after protection, please check out out Blue Label - www.shogunkendogu.com/bogu/full-sets/blue-label-bogu-set

Very useful video. Reached it thanks to Hiro imafuji link. To store my kendogu between kendo courses, can I pack it the way you did at the end of the video? With the men into the do and kote on the sides. I mean it's a neutral position which allow to gain space to store it at home without causing harm to the fabrics in the long term? Thanks :)
@Shogunkendogu
@Shogunkendogu 5 жыл бұрын
Great question - yes, you can pack your gear away like this without worrying about causing harm to the fabric or stitching over time. The primary cause of damage, however, is storing kendo equipment while it is still wet! So please ensure that you dry your gear (and stretch out the leather as shown here and in our other videos) before your store it away!
