Well, this turned me off of the Toler tool! I was hoping the saws could cut steel and iron. I guess I'll look for that Leatherman Surge!!!!
@davidwestfall34772 жыл бұрын
The carrying case is a good leather product. My toler tool out of the box was superior to yours. I too waited two years for mine and it is unlike any other multi tool I ever carried. I am very sorry you are so disappointed as well you should. This project has been a crazy journey for Mike and I very much want to see him succeed with it. I hope you get a Toler tool you are happy with.

How can the Leatherman compare with no wrench function?
@michaelcolloton69712 жыл бұрын
For years, SOG made the heaviest, most cumbersome and most ridiculous multitools on the market. This is the new champion. The guys at Toler obviously don't have much engineering skill, but they sure have balls. It's hard to believe you can get this much stupid only $150.
@troyounce32952 жыл бұрын
Well I wouldn't call it stupid, a lot of thought went into it, definitely needs to lose some tools and be more user friendly
@dsimon338712 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with you... I am suprised at the passes people throw these guys... "Oh they are minor issues..." Really? How minor are they when I can get a beautiful Bibury that for all appearances has the build quality of a Leatherman for less than 30 bucks? There is even a tool with a wrench and pliers for under 30 that is machined better than this product.

I get the message. The tool is not very good. I gave the video a Thumbs Down though just because I don't like the way the guy does the video, kinda annoying. I never quite understand why these folks insist on telling the audience about useless information like that they screwed up the first video. Oh and that it's raining? Still mission accomplished, bad tool, won't buy one.

I just went and got this vise directly after watching this video. Great little vise for 17 bucks. I hate suction devices like these but this one works well. It works perfect to keep with my Dremel.

tool looks 2 wide to fit nicely in hands. The more parts the more likely to lose and less likely to use tool - don think this is a winner - the ratchet lock is interesting but not a major selling point

Lets address the negative "its made in China" comments.I own leatherman and sog tools and use a leatherman surge for my everyday work as a maintenance technician.The Surge is probably the best tool for everyday work use due to its heavyweight build.....its a great tool.I have just purchased a Roxon Phantom more out of curiosity than as a tool for work and its impressive.Build quality is excellent and the innovative design including the interchangeable blade system is the way forward in multi tool design.The scizzors on the tool are the best on the market and the fact there are twelve different blades you can interchange sets this tool apart from anything else.The secondary tools are more like you would see on a swiss army knife....not really heavy duty but they work for their intended uses.The tool also comes with spring loaded pliers and replaceable wire cutters.....you even get a spare pair included in the price.Roxon is a relatively new company but they are already showing promise in ther innovation and build quality........the tool is almost a work of art. This tool cost me 50 quid........leatheman cant touch this tool on pricing,even their cheaper tools are more expensive than the phantom and they are nowhere near as good.I will be following this company with great interest.......yes they can make improvements but they are a young company that are showing a lot of promise and great design deas.I think leatherman and all the top multi tool manufacturers need to take note on their pricing because gor 50 quid there is nothing on the market to compete with the Phantom.

This is the same as the first "review", with um's and ah's throughout. The first review was mainly you slamming the tool, without, in your own words, not having even used it. Repeat. You reviewed the tool, and didn't even use any of the tools! And read the instructions next time. You also seem to have absolutely no idea how the wrench works. I don't believe you even tried it. And if any tradesman came to install a toilet and had only a multitool on his belt, I wouldn't let him in the door. Ummm.
@Billhumphreys33702 жыл бұрын
You should have edited this one too, leaving out the countless "Ahhhhhhh....", and "Ummmm"s. You could have mentioned your failed video maybe once (preferably not at all) and once only. Try writing a script first, if there is a next time. Ahhhhh. Ummmm.

It took me a whole extra year to get mine and given all that extra time you'd hope it had improved significantly, it has not. I feel like you were being entirely too generous with your review. This tool is awful, its best "function" at this point will be to demonstrate for someone how NOT to make a multitool. This thing is a pile of bad ideas. The fact that the thin arm on the pliers can swivel all over is just an injury waiting to happen, unless of course like my $100 paperweight you intend to never use it as a tool. Perhaps someday after a blow to the head I will be enticed into using this for more than an ornament, its going to have to be a very hard blow to the head though. Appreciated your review and honesty so I gave a sub and a like though!

Wow.. I ordered two of these multi tools one year ago. I still haven't received them. After seeing your video I am going to cancel the order. I assumed the wait time was because they were being hand-made like a fine Swiss watch. Clearly, that is not the case.

I backed this project on indiegogo too. It will be 2 years for me in May. His progress in production will see this tool in my hands at likely the 3 or 4 year mark. Maybe longer. I guess thats what I signed up for. I would not have committed had I known it would take this long, or that production is outsourced to China. Pretty unimpressed all in all. That said, maybe I will receive a cool and efficient tool someday.

Just got mine yesterday and checked mine against yours. You totally got a lemon. The ball bearing on the bit extender is still visible but it does stay in the hex hole and has minor resistance to falling out. I got the carrying case, which is actually leather that smells nice and not like chemicals.
@markpapp87842 жыл бұрын
I watched this video having received and opened mine yesterday. It seems that (at least some of) the defects you found have been resolved. In no particular order: 1) The "file" / piercer wasn't bent or distorted in any way, but it doesn't look much good. 2) All Phillips screws were fine and undamaged, though one of the slotted screws at the pliers' pivot had tool marks, which surprised me on a factory assembled unit. 3) The screwdriver bit holder is easily inserted into the hex soxkets and does not shake loose from either, and the bits stay in the holder. 4) The belt pouch astonished me - it's made of decent leather and held together with high quality rivets - much better than expected. 5) The knife doesn't seem to have a lock. 6) The "metal saw" does look to be useless, but time will tell. 7) The adjustable wrench mechanism seems OK to me, though not yet tried. Overall, I suspect mine's an improvement on yours; I was quite impressed with the quality, but my expectations weren't high. It's still not the perfect everyday carry tool but I don't know if that's been invented. I'm curious to see if I ever really use it in anger, as if I know I'm going to need tools I usually carry a decent set...

I keep trying muitools and return to the first one I ever purchased; SOG powerlock. Interchangeable bits and gear assist grip are the main selling points. In a decade I snapped one Phillips bit and replaced for $12. The only thing I want that toler has is the ability to use 2 wrenches. I hope someone makes a minimal device with detachable 2 plier option, driver bits, and knife. Don’t need more than that. I also like the kershaw fire select. The sog powerlock, plus a small knippex cobra wrench gives me the versatile most edc tool options in the for the smallest footprint currently. Even the fire select + cobra gets me pretty far.

The holes are for keeping it all together if you by chance lose the magnet card. For sharpening the knife the idea behind it was to use a whetstone. The saw is good for making knotchs to help band stuff together otherwise you're not gonna be processing a bunch of wood. The button is for button or lure purposes .

First of all I would not use this type of tool to install a toilet. The non locking handle on the pliers is a concern to me. This is a tool to use in a emergency when you have a lite small project like working on a mountain bike when your out and about. You seem too critical to me for a first run project. By the way, you did get a new tool and two sheaths so Tolar does stand behind their product.

I’m contributed #3805 and hearing this really bummed me out. Waited so long to get it to hear it’s shitty quality. Not even excited about getting it. If it’s as bad as you say it is it’ll end up in my drawers somewhere or just toss it in the tool box but won’t plan on carrying it with me will probably get a leatherman.
