I'm glad the tool reached you and I'm glad you find it useful. We're using all the feedback we get to refine our production and QC processes in these early days, so your earlier video was invaluable and I thank you. I do also hope you'll continue to use it and find some more of the functions and configurations available. I feel I should mention, the knife blade is not stainless, but D2 tool steel. D2 is near stainless in oxidation resistance, but known for toughness and edge holding ability. For those with smaller hands, you should be using the knife with the plier grip alone for a more svelte handle. I think you'll find the design could grow on you as your understanding blossoms. One thing I saw here is forcing the saw blades against the lock when you should be raising another blade to open the lock. Forcing it repeatedly could damage the lock over time. I'm glad you liked the wood saw blade, but you'll get much better performance from both saw blades by joining the tool for the pistol grip function. I get the feeling there is more for you discover, and I hope you take that opportunity. Thanks so much for being an early adopter. -Mike

Wait, You used a multi-tool to install a toilet? Do you not understand that a multi-tool is an emergency use or casual use device to allow you to deal with an unexpected situation? NOBODY expects a multi-tool to strand in for a dedicated tool except when said dedicated tool is unavailable. Use the proper tool for the proper job and stop expecting a multi-tool to fill in for a specialized piece of equipment! Again, what are your credentials and why should we care what you think?
@jacktracy4845
@jacktracy4845 3 жыл бұрын
A multi tool should NEVER be compared to “stand alone analogs”. Never. They are not designed to replace your tool kit, your shop, or your garage. They are designed for all those time when you need a tool AWAY from those places and your “real” tools. Like, you know, CAMPING? Breakdowns? JFC. Nitpicking doesn’t describe this shit.

Did anyone else cringe as he forced the saw back down without unlocking it? He hasn't retained any of the instructions of use. That being said, the plier handles not locking in place is a big concern of mine. I guess I'll find out if I like it when I get mine.
@justinroberts1290
@justinroberts1290 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, anyone who has used a leatherman should know better, it's the same system. I also agree with the plier handles, I love innovation, but a more conventional leatherman style folding system would make me more inclined to pursue this product.

Great to see you got a good one. My first one matched your video with the hex holes not fully broached and all the other issues you mentioned. I contacted the company and to their credit quickly sent me a replacement. The replacement has all of the same issues I had with the first one plus more: a bunch of deep surface scratches in the body that were there before the finish was applied, with one on the edge that is through the finish. There are scratches in the finish around some of the small Philips screws and one that is not screwed in flush, sticking up above the body. Nearly all the Philips screws on the omnilock side were loose enough to turn 1/2-2 full turns using the driver bit with just my fingers. The small phillips bit has an issue with the detent ball, it does not stick up as far as the others, about .5mm shorter, and it falls right out of the storage area even when the ball is positioned to be pointed at the retention hole, proving yes, you can screw up a screwdriver bit. Overall worse impression of quality control on the second tool. I sent the replacement unit back and kept the original one. Hopefully they are improving the quality control as production ramps up. Maybe some day they will be on par with Leatherman, SOG and other industry standards and I'll have a rare first run collectible tool. for now it's in that drawer of stuff I forgot I have.

First of all I would not use this type of tool to install a toilet. The non locking handle on the pliers is a concern to me. This is a tool to use in a emergency when you have a lite small project like working on a mountain bike when your out and about. You seem too critical to me for a first run project. By the way, you did get a new tool and two sheaths so Tolar does stand behind their product.

This is the same as the first "review", with um's and ah's throughout. The first review was mainly you slamming the tool, without, in your own words, not having even used it. Repeat. You reviewed the tool, and didn't even use any of the tools! And read the instructions next time. You also seem to have absolutely no idea how the wrench works. I don't believe you even tried it. And if any tradesman came to install a toilet and had only a multitool on his belt, I wouldn't let him in the door. Ummm.

I’ve been waiting for mine too, but I unfortunately have the strong feeling that I will have the same experience. But, I hope that doesn’t dissuade a maker from trying to make an improvement over current designs and try to make really cool and unique new inventions. Criticisms are a good thing, if it helps the development of a product. I remember getting the first ever Leatherman and trying it out on the first screw I came upon and the tip of the screwdriver twisted like a corkscrew on me.

If you'd rather have a tiny channel lock (can be had dirt cheap!), or even worse a crescent wrench, why would you buy the Toler Union?? How does it compare to other universal/parrot wrenches, like the Knipex Raptor, or a Crescent Flip&Grip. How do the saws compare to other manual stab saws: Milwaukee has one that takes standard recip blades, and I wish a future Union module would have a mounting point for those blades...

Sounds like umay be the scam. The product is right here in the video. And if u backed it in indigogo or something like that. Obviously it’s there an needing backers because it’s in the works an anything being produced will take time sometimes lots of time to get a finalized product than get it shipped. Also nobody that’s backing it is guaranteed a tool. Clearly states that before paying. Most of the time items are sent to the backers sooner because it’s not available to the public an thats where funding came from the backers. But it’s not a sure thing if the company flops ect. You knew it takes time. Others are in the same boat and just know when an if the company makes it there gonna get it. An don’t really think much about it. Because there’s no point to stress it. You’ll get it when ya get it. An we all know that. Or an were chancing getting anything at all. So u contacted them to complain just to complain. Like your going to get yours ahead of someone that waited longer than you. Really

That being said anyone that didn’t back it just to back it for a return or no return it wouldn’t change there life either way an wouldn’t waste time to complain over something so petty. Pretty much says your strapped for money an your feelings are hurt you haven’t seen a return on something that was never guaranteed. People like you should stay off indigogo an any other backing campaigns
