My man!! The shots came out nicely -- looking awesome! Soundtrack was a vibe as well. I have thought about continuous lighting but haven't put it into practice yet. What I like about your shots here is the final images looked like natural light -- know what I mean? That look makes the portrait -- well done, as always!

That's definitely what I was going for Rusty, hence my ISO at 3200 on the last shots (it was evening time and I wanted the ambient to still play a factor in the shots). I hope you've been well. I watched your mirrorless upgrade video, that was a big step for you, but definitely understandable.

@AnthonyToglife8 күн бұрын
Ummm, a black mist filter sorta does that, but a filter that specifically smooths skin, not really. Anything that would “smooth” skin would smooth the entire image.

Nice to hear aomeone who isnt convinced by the marketing rubbish. Yes in film cameras the filters were needed but its a digital world baby! The only thing i would say is that stopping the light BEFORE the lens gives a slight difference in the bokah or the way a lens flares when some lenses are wide open. Other than that just turn the evc down a stop and move on with your life.

HI Anthony. Firstly, Kudos for going out and shooting in those conditions when many others would of stayed home GAS surfing on MPB or similar places. My favourite image was at 16:16 with the person carrying an M&M bag, it was if you built up to finding an image like that during the video, the option of a tighter square crop to edge of the bag works for this image as well I have had many conversations with people about ethics in photography, street in particular, it is an interesting subject. I always suggest people look up the pictures known as 'Fire escape collapse' taken by, Stanley Forman, as a talking point. There is a good article in, Art & Glamour, that shows the whole set of images taken. It raises the question of would you, if you came across a similar scene, have taken those pictures. Enjoy your weekend and good vibes to you from this side of the pond.

It was a huge mistake when I gave the client ( an in house marketing person at the company) raw files upon request. His edit was so bad. Thankfully he showed the woman he asked me to photograph my edit also. Guess who's headshot she posted on her socials? Mine. I feel so bad for her that the terrible one he edited is on their company's social media. It looked like he didn't know at all how to edit a raw file, it basically still looked RAW lol, kind of flat looking, no vibrance, no anything. I'll never release the Raw files again. I'm glad she posted my edit, showed him. It was as if he had heard, you need to get the raw files because they are the best quality and he had no idea what raw files look like, unedited. As far as comments on photos, the photos I have shot of people get the most comments/engagement not their own photos.

I've had their in house people literally destroy beautiful, high res edited photos to a point that they should have not hired a professional photographer because they resized it to the point where it looked pixelated and I have no idea in God's name what they did to the color, it ended up looking like they desaturated it to black and white and then recolorized it with the paint brush tool and not it was not for effect, it was supposed to look like all the other headshots. I feel bad for the client, because I'm not cheap and someone is destroying the files lol.

@@nkaujhnub86 you need to make sure both the strobe and your camera is in high speed sync (HSS). On the trigger, hit the button under “SYNC” until you see a flash symbol followed by the letter “H”. Recently had a bit of bad luck with my photo storage, I lost all my images (RAW) files of four years. I had just taken a wedding and had quite the panic attack. Luckily was able to get the wedding portraits back, and chose to give the bride all her raw images back (+ the edited). I took a stab to my creative pride, she’s using the raw images over the unedited images. Not sure how to feel about it, but I do know I need to make some changes with my editing skills. But having the raw images given to the client was able to put a safety net if I were to ever lose all my photo storage again.

Too many pluses to ignore. I wish someone could explain how to make the images look more like the 135/2 or 200/2.8 - not a fan of "bright and white" wedding look for other things, including portraiture.
@AnthonyToglifeАй бұрын
Well, that “bright and white” look has nothing to do with the lens and everything to do with camera settings, but the 70-200 - albeit moderately close - is not going to look like the 135/2 at f/2 lol. I’ve never used the 200/2.8 but I’m thinking even it would render the background better than the 70-200. You could probably do some artificial things in post to get the look to be similar, but nothing beats in camera.

Hi Anthony. This appears to be a product where Neewer have done extensive R&D with the result being the things you highlighted in this review. The handle on top of the unit, not overheating in difficult circumstances (the fan being on all the time that will extend its life) and the robustness of the product were good to see. What will you say in a six months time, well, it will be interesting to watch that follow up. A well presented and helpful review. I am new to your channel and will enjoy taking a stroll around over the coming weeks. I had the time of my life working as a photographers assistant, luckily, with good photographers. I was told that iso was also affecting the flash power....as well as affecting the background....does it mean that the flash gets less power full and therefore more risk in motion blur from the subjects? Especially if the subjects are for example walking? great video though, Thank you so much :)
@AnthonyToglifeАй бұрын
Because ISO, in simple terms, adjusts the sensor’s sensitivity to light, adjusting the ISO will indeed impact your flash. It doesn’t, however, have a direct impact on the background. Generally one would increase ISO to be able to increase shutter speed as well, as an example, so motion blur typically wouldn’t be an issue when using flash. There’s also the concept of the flash itself freezing your subject. There’s a lot of nuances to this topic, lol.

When shooting with flash: If you shoot at f/8 or f/10, would you keep the ISO at 100 and lower the shutter speed? I think that will cause motion blur if the subject moves a little, so would you increase the ISO instead? How would you set your shutter speed in this case? Will that depend on the “high-speed sync” shutter speed of the flash? For example, if HSS syncs at shutter speeds from 1/400 to 1/8,000 seconds, can I go higher than 1/400, like 1/10?
@AnthonyToglifeАй бұрын
@Ozhtube I make changes based on what makes sense. If I have latitude to lower the SS without that creating an issue, I’ll do so. If it makes more sense to increase the ISO, I'll do so. That being said, if the ambient exposure is moderately to significantly less than the light your strobe is providing, the strobe will freeze your subject even at slow shutter speeds.
@OzhtubeАй бұрын
